Hello everybody,
I have a friend's KFL3A-400 on my bench which shows a 20 dB passband
attenuation with
high ripple. The fault was originally detected by a 3 S units signal drop in
the K3
compared to its other crystal filters. The filter was working perfectly until
recently.
I disassembled
Hi folks,
I'm trying to interconnect my KX3 and KRC2. I read the posts on this topic
dating
back to early March. The KRC2 is a very versatile unit allowing parallel
operation of
band filters via the BCD outputs and antenna relays the same time. So I would
really

Hello everybody,
having bought my KX3/PX3/KXPA100 combo just one year ago, I'd like to come up
with
some ideas.
After operating my K2/KPA100/KAT100 for years (and it's still great!) and also
operating K3s frequently for contest operation the KX3 quickly became my

Hi everybody,
I'm just putting together my KX3 kit. While mounting the RF board Rev D to the
bottom cover I zipped off one of the M-F standoffs using rather little force.
As I usually have a good feeling which force may be used on these standoffs I
started investigating things a bit.
After
Hi folks,
today I found the KRC2 config utility on the Elecraft homepage. Happily I
prepared for
configuring my KRC2 by software rather than by hardware. However, I cannot
write my mapping to
my KRC2.
I have:
- WinXP SP2
- USB to COM converter (which runs fine for PC control and other
Hi folks,
the company Knippex (located in Germany) is manufacturing dedicated
coated-wire
stripping tweezers. I used them for my latest K2 and it works great !
The tweezers are detailed at this URL:

Hi Elecrafters,
just returned from my 2005 WAE CW activity in LX, where I operated my K2
on a camp site in a fieldday-style operation. So far all went fine. Even a
high power (100 kW +) MW transmitter with really big antennas only 1 mile
away didn't produce any problems to the K2 RX. And I
Hi Elecrafters,
just decided to upgrade my KRC2 firmware from V1.0 to V1.3.
I installed the KRC2 Download Utility V1.1, connected my KRC2 to the PC,
set the switch to download. Then I made the following:
- Press button Get F/W Rev.
- KRC2 responds V1.0
- selected the HEX file
- press Download
NOW MY KRC2 IS COMPLETELY DEAD. Upon power-on the LED comes up in DIM
Problem solved. In a series of e-mails Jack helped me getting my KRC2 back
to life. Again Elecraft proved to not only have the best rigs, they also
have the best (and fastest) support!
Thank You, guys!
VY 73 de Marcus,
Hi folks,
a friend of mine just reported to me his K2 (which I built for him) audio
output level would vary about 20 dB over the full AGC range.
He used a test transmitter and an AF voltmeter for this test and varied
the RF output level over the full AGC range of his K2.
I never measured the

this is my problem. It seems there are no specific conditions to trigger
Hi Elecrafters,
just finished my XV50 and hooked everything up with my K2. So far all is
fine, but I have a strange problem with the XV50:
I have set the t-r time to 0.05 s (semi break-in) and every now and then
the XV50 goes into IF overload condition (all LEDs flashing).
As I couldn't

This is really interesting. I'm just facing the same trouble. During last
WAG field operation I used my K2 with everything being fine. At the end of
the contest I
Hi Tom,
just would like to thank You very much for Your (and Nigel's) very
valuable information You have put on Your web site.
I stumbled on the birdies on 160/80 some time ago on a fieldday and was
thinking about looking into the circuits one day. But the birdies are just
S3-5 here.

Hi All,
the problem was solved:
A defective 2N3904 (Q3 on KDSP2 board) was showing a huge leakage current
and this way was loading down the AUXBUS. Just didn't believe this plain
old bipolar could be the reason.
Witch a new 2N3904 AUXBUS stays at 5.6 V.
Thanks for help.
VY 73 de Marcus,
Hi All,
just finished assembly of my latest K2/100 (the fourth K2 I built) and for
thefirst time I'm having trouble getting things running.
During testing I noticed a strange behaviour: Some of the option modules
are getting lost sometimes and being displayed as not inst. Tracing
things down
Hi All,
are there F/W update histories around somewhere for the KPA100 and the
KAT2 modules?
Thanks for help.

Hi Elecrafters,
will there be a KRC2 configuration utility in the near future? I would
really like to configure the thing via software. I often change antenna
configuration in my fieldday setups, but would like to use ONE pre-
assembled control-line with water-proof/assembled connectors, etc.
