What line voltage are you running it on? If you're not on 240v, switching to
240v would be the easiest and most effective improvement.
Doing so yields a 4:1 improvement in line voltage regulation / reduction in
voltage drop. Double the voltage, at half the current draw.

Hi Ray,
Paperwork is not the problem. If you pay for the shipment on-line you can
fill out the simple paperwork there as well. The real problems with
international shipments are cost
to
failures. Solid state amps are much more fragile from this perspective
than tube amps.
That said, the 1.2KFX is fully capable of 750w key down output. On CW,
PEP=AVG.
73,
Bob W5OV
could it be that 750 watts PEP is the same as 600 watts key down

Upgrade the firmware in your P3 which will allow you to access either
without changing connections.
Have a K3 KUSB with the P3. It appears that if I want to connect to
my PC and run the K3 utility I must disconnect the P3 during this
process. Curious if there are other ways to enable both.
Exactly.
If his does not work with the K3 while still connected via the P3, he must
have the old firmware in his P3.
You don't need to do anything to send K3 commands with the P3 still
connected. The P3 relays the K3 commands straight on through. K3

Joe,
My 43' antenna works very well on 160 and 80 as I have reported. In fact,
it works so well that those DX stations that I work with it are amazed -
quite frankly so am I.
Sorry, but your opinion is just that.
73,
Bob W5OV
The 43' length is a convenient non-resonant length - nothing
-UN is preferable and works very well.
I have a 43' vertical with one of AD5X's 160 and 80 matching systems at
the base fed with an UN-UN and it works great.
I use it on all bands - 160 through 10m. Check out the ZL8X online log

Turn off the preamp in your K9AY system and you can use it on other bands.

Bias should be OFF.
After getting pointed to the MIC-SEL menu item (for more than fpl/bpl),
I
did change the gain to H, and that gives me some ALC. I also tried the
bias setting, but that didn't seem to make much difference.
I see some RF output when I talk, but not much. This SSB stuff
might want to hang on to your K2 for backyard excursions because of
its size, but the K3 is substantially better than the Pro3 in most
measures. The only area where the K3 is relatively deficient is in not
having a built-in pan display, but the P3 seems to fill that void quite
well.
