Ted,
If you have the KRX3 subreceiver installed, it will have to come out for
the KBPF3 upgrade. So leave it out until the other upgrades are
installed - there is more "finger room", and there is no other logical
reason.
Install the KXV3B before the KIO3B simply because the KXV3 is below
I am about to install the KXV3B, the KIO3B, and the KBPF3 upgrade in my K3.

have not been able to find it in the archives. Any advice

Hi Tony,
I don't have the ATU in my K3 and I am quite happy without it. I have
mostly resonant antennas (2.0:1 on the bands I use without ATU) and do
have a manual external tuner that I can put in for the other bands.
If you are using a remote ATU at the antenna feed point there's no need to

While I can't disagree with the recommendation for a linear
supply (I have an Astron RS-35A for each K3), I recommend
avoiding the PowerPole distribution blocks and would power
station accessories - particularly any accessory that touches
the audio - in the shack from a SEPARATE supply.
Sharing
Sharing a single power supply between the transmitter and
accessories is a very good way to create RFI (even with
a dummy load) due to the pin 1 problem in nearly every
amateur rig ever built.
I completely agree with Joe, but I'm guilty of using a common supply for the
K3 and switching-type

The main reason why most devices take DC in rather than bringing in
direct AC is because they can pass all the safety work on to the brick
manufacturer and it saves them a lot of money in the regulatory end.

I bought an MFJ 4125P a few days before I received my K3 so I would have
something that would work and would be easily portable and with the
intention of buying a power supply for non-portable use later, which I
haven't done yet. The MFJ 4125P is somewhat, but not terribly noisy.
In my case,
Hi Chris,
Hope you enjoy your K3.
One thought: If you operate any CW or narrowband data at all, I think
you'll want at least one narrow filter (500 or 400 Hz). It'll make a
huge difference in crowded band conditions. If you're strictly into
voice modes, you can do without.
