Yes, Steve, all modes supported by the KX3 are usable on all bands, including
those using either internal or external transverters.
I am using my KX3 now primarily as the I/f for my 10GHz rig and have used it on
multiple modes including CW, SSB, FM, AM, and digital.

I'm starting work on a magloop project. I wonder how hard it would be
to
have a transceiver tell the magloop what frequency it's tuned to? That
could
operationally be simpler than having to hit it with low-power RF so it
can tune
itself...

If your antenna is a magloop - DO NOT USE the tune button. In fact, clear
the tuner memory for your band per instructions. The tuner feature
(assuming you have the option) is great with other antennas, especially
random wire but it doesn't go well with mag loops. The xmit button is
simply
agnetic-loop-antenna.
The KX3 manual, on page 14, has this wording "TUNE is used to put out a CW
signal at the power level selected by the PWR control.".
This is new territory for me as I have never have used "TUNE" or "XMIT"
button.

Neither the manual nor the great book "The Elecraft KX3-Portable" by Fred KE7X
(SK) have answers to my questions, which are:
1. From where does this CW signal come?
2. What information is in that CW signal?
The concern I have is the

The KX3 is a fantastic IF radio. Why?
* 50 MHz IF frequency works great with the W1GHz transverter
* SSB/CW/NBFM modes with great RX
* push button carrier
* CW-in-SSB
* single RF port matches the W1GHZ
Hello List
Encoders in both my KX3 and PX3 have become very noisey after being idle for a
few months. The PX3 is on verge of total failure.
I know the KX3 had an encoder upgrade a while back and that appears to be an
easy process to effect replacement.
For the PX3 I can find no

I am getting no audio into my KX3 from a MH3 hand mic. All connections and
components in the MH3 check good to the best of my ability. I’m measuring about
1.7vdc mic bias. Seems low to me but I can’t find a spec anywhere. Does anyone
know what the mic bias from the KX3 should be?

I took them out just as a prophylactic measure. I *think* I know that Ni-Cd
cells don’t burst/leak over time but I would rather not perform that experiment
with a KX3.
My Bioenno battery is a small price (in $ and peace of mind) to ensure that I
don’t destroy my radio. :)

I stopped keeping batteries (NiMH) in the internal tray when the rig got
stuck in an error state while trying to update the firmware. The fix for
the issue was to remove all power to the radio for a short time, maybe half
a minute, then restore power and update the firmware again. Trouble is, if
