Lee,
What size wire are you using ? Should not be smaller than
#12.
The length should be as short as comfortably possible.
That means as short as possible with enough extra length
to dress the cable around the operation bench if/as needed,
and to be able to pull the radio out of its

IMHO, no amateur series transceiver should ever be used
as a safety-of-life marine transceiver. Only marine style
radios should be used for same.
The main reason is the highly corrosive environment in
which the radio lives. Most amateur radio sets are not

All,
I have been looking at the XG3 as a alignment tool for
old boat anchor receivers. However, many have IF strips at
455 kHz and lower. The XG3 stops at 1.5 MHz.
Are there any plans to lower the bottom frequency limit
to 100 kHz or lower ? Some boat anchors have a 60 kHz IF
Mike,
Park your radio on 50.125 don't JUST listen, CALL CQ
occasionally! Make some noise. If everyone listens and
no one calls, no one will know that the band is open. By
calling, you may even run in to a few locals as well.
Also, remember the AM crowd. They are frequently on
50.400.
Very good

Another vote for the RM-35. I have had mine for over 30
years. Not an issue.
Note however that Astron over specs their power supplies.
They claim that the RS-35 will do 25A continuous. It will
not. It gets too darn hot. Given the heatsink, it should
do about 20 continuous. This is with

Quick question regarding SW updates for the KX3. I

If that is the case, any chance we can get it down to 50
kHz ? Some of the old Hammarlund gear need 60 kHz as well
as some of the more common IF frequencies

Please be advised that Astron supplies are generally
over rated. The RS-20 is rated at 20A peak and 16A

seen people try to use them at their continuous ratings,
only to have them fail. The heat sinking is just not

Be sure that the antenna has been disconnected and a

All,
Has anyone developed a bracket for the combination of
the K2/100 and the KAT-100 ? I need a method of
transporting them and moving them around easily.
Maybe Elecraft could sell a set of side plates that
would screw in to both the K2 and the KAT-100 with a handle
on one plate
Anyone using the Yamaha CM-500 with the K2?

Trying to get my K2/100/KAT-100 operation with N1MM.
Bought the Elecraft USB-Serial adapter. Installed the
driver from the FTDI web site. Seems to be operational.
Connected the cable to the computer (device found, etc).
Connected the other end to the radio/antenna tuner cable,
