The manual states in a couple spots that the KX3 can transmit more power-efficiently when output power is at or below 3 Watts. Why is this? Is there an (additional?) amplifier stage that is bypassed at these lower power levels? Thanks, Julie

I'd believe it! I've gotten weird noise artifacts before that were actually "the monitor level is so low that the DAC is running out of bits". Mine showed up most obviously as harmonics in the sidetone. Try adjusting the monitor level in CW mode and see if you hear your issue at the lowest levels

Yeah, that will happen. In CW mode, the rig "lines up" the VFO frequency and your sidetone. In USB mode, the rig uses the VFO frequency as the "edge" of the sideband, and if you hear or send at your sidetone, you'll have to add that to the VFO frequency to get the actual frequency of the CW
