Hi Roger,
No that is not possible with the current design. The TXMON feature detects
and displays the DC envelope of the RF signal. In order to display actual
RF spectrum we would need to use a different coupler (direct sampling) and
we'd also need a much faster analog to digital converter.
I haven't verified this, but one thing you might try is to turn PA MODE to
OFF on the KX3. You'll then need to turn on/off the KXPA100 manually since
the KX3 will no longer be pinging the KXPA100. This should eliminate the
cursor/marker lag on the PX3.

The P3/SVGA terminal mode which allows you to display decoded CW/RTTY/PSK31
text on an external monitor uses the decoder built in to the K3. If you
are missing characters on the SVGA display, first make sure that the K3 is
correctly configured to decode the correct mode.
Hi Stewart,
We, along with many of our customers have had very good luck with the
Logitech K360 Wireless keyboard. It can often be found very inexpensively
online.Stay away from keyboards that have built in mice, or what are
call composite devices. The SVGA USB driver does not support
Hi Mike, The SVGA card uses an embedded VGA controller. This means that we're
limited to two possible pixel clocks for the 1920x1080 resolution. Some
monitors cannot sync to the pixel clocks and this causes the display to show
the two black areas you noticed.Try setting manual mode on your
David,
Simply press the MENU button on the front of the P3, then using the SELECT
knob, scroll through the menu until you get to VFO CURSOR TYPE . Then
press the SELECT knob in to toggle between U and BAR .

Hi David,
One thing to check that is fairly common is the 3.5mm serial jack which
plugs into the top of the XG3. Just make sure that it's fully inserted into
the top.
If you're still having trouble, please contact Elecraft support for
additional help.

Hi Jim,
The keyboard I use here is the Logitech K360. You can usually find them at
a great discount from Staples and Amazon. Technically speaking, the USB
stack on the SVGA board is looking for a basic PC BIOS keyboard.

Hi Jim,
#1) Try turning off the auto mode on your monitor. The P3/SVGA may be

as a test, change the P3/SVGA resolution down to 1024x768 and see if the
screen fills correctly.
#2) Currently there is no way to
Hi Tim,
Are you using Fixed Tune mode on the P3/SVGA? In Fixed Tune mode, there is
quite a bit if information passing between the K3 and P3/SVGA and it sounds
like the Commander polling is affecting this communication. Try using
Tracking Mode on the P3/SVGA and see if that solves the hanging
Hi Larry,
It sounds like the SVGA is not seeing that the K3 has stopped transmitting
and has gone into receive. Here are some suggestions:
1) Make sure both the SVGA and P3 are running latest firmware. P3 1.26
SVGA 1.16
2) Ensure that the serial cable going between the K3 and P3 is good and
Hi Sam,
Version 1.16 of the P3/SVGA firmware sends the text assigned to a key
without respecting the current Tx mode (VOX, CR, etc). I've since fixed
this and it will be included in the next firmware release, which hopefully
will be available for beta testing soon.
