I have been off and on lurkin on the fringes of EMC & LinuxCNC for years.
Once upon a time I had an order for a shoptask machine, but canceled after 7
months of no delivery.
I still keep an old Sony Viao laptop running

Sorry, that was an attempt at programmer humour. Like lot of the C++
files in LinuxCNC

I think the Mesa 7i73 would be the easiest solution - I run a catV
cable through the arm that supports my screen and connect the plethora
of old switches on my series 1 to it. Already has native hal
support, just tie the switches to your functions and go.
