use a jetdirect. It will support jetdirect printing on port 9100 or standard lpd printing on port 515. The latter is what you'd use for standard unix or windows nt printing. Get one off of ebay for $100 or so. Cory Does anyone have experience running an HP DeskJet off a network printserver

Confused: isn't the linux workstation the ideal network printserver? Why would you buy something else, unless you didn't want to rely on the workstation for that purpose, of course... ? I use a HP LaserJet 4050N here at the office, and am lucky 'cuz it is network-connected with its own ether.

Dear Confused, I have laser printers spread throughout my more than 40,000 square foot building. However I have all of my servers sitting in one room in the center. I'm not about to run even one IEEE 1284 cable 100ft out to each of those printers so they can be wired to the ideal network
