The best way to do this is with an HP JetDirect box, providing your
printer will work with this (some DeskJets aren't networkable, period).
I've got these set up all over the University campus, the Baker Center,
Autzen Stadium, etc., using Netware 5.1.  Linux and Windoze work just
fine using standard TCP/IP printing.  The only downside is that
JetDirect boxes cost $200 each.  HP provides docs on how to set it up in
the box.  Once installed on the network you can administrate them on the
command line with telnet-- a big plus.
