Re: [Evangelism] demo.plone.org
Hi Nate, We created already 17.000 sites on objectis.org, 5.000 are still active Plone sites. Objectis is used to create demo sites by people. Because it's limited in many ways : 1. total site size (10 Mb) 2. max size of one size is 1 Mb 3. no file system access 4. limited list of products Right now, you need to explain your need on http:// myplone.objectis.org/ and is the demand is accepted, then you get a validation code that is valid to create from 1 to n sites on objectis.org. If you think we can work something out of this existing architecture, this will be cool. Cheers, Dave PS : we're working on the EC2 to see if this can save us cost, it will double or triple or infrastructure cost to move to EC2, so we're not doing it at the moment. All the Objectis infra is paravirtualized using Xen on 64 bits Intel Debian. The demo.plone.org site would have logins for a standard unprivileged user, a reviewer and an admin user. It would get cleared out every night with a fresh Data.fs. I think its important for us, the Plone-Community, to not have a message around about failure. Even if it wasnt a technical problem. If 5 people from the Plone-Community would help the Gnome folks its easy to get the technical part done. I'd be one of them. Any opinions? I can help a bit on the Plopne part, but I doubt it will really help. But we can do Deliverance work and hosting, / mirror, for sure. I see other answers. Do you coordinate the efforts. Thanks! [Evangelism] "Quitting Plone" post from PJ Grizel
Hi, Some already had some reaction there: http://blog.liances.com/?p=59 PJ wrote a book about Plone while at Ingeniweb. When Ingeniweb was bought by Alter Way, he stayed a couple of yeard and then left the company. He's a good guy, IMVHO, that just got fedup of some cryptic evolution of Plone and the tight link to the Zope Platform. Let's exchange some arguments on the post, as it's not the kind of blog post we want people to bounce at while finding about Plone ;) Cheers. -- David Sapiro - da...@pilotsystems.net Pilot Systems - 9, rue Desargues - 75011 Paris Tel : +33 1 44 53 05 55 - www.pilotsystems.net Gérez vos contacts et vos newsletters : www.cockpit-mailing.com ___ Evangelism mailing list Evangelism@lists.plone.org http://lists.plone.org/mailman/listinfo/evangelism

We started to work on social media marketing here: http://www.coactivate.org/projects/plone-marketing/social-media There are some short term actions which can be done quite quickly but some questions need to be answered first: - Where to store passwords? Is there a process for that employed inside the foundation? Who handles access? - Who needs to deal with "highjacked" pages like http://facebook.com/plone ? I filled a report on Facebook about this guy (Paolo Bulleri). I don't know the process about getting back a "FB name" to its TM owner, but if 42 people do the same, fill a report on that guy, saying he's using a TM as its name, then it will do something I guess. Cheers, Dave - What is the process to get e.g. twitter and facebook buttons on the homepage? - Who has to decide on all the stuff?
