We can "sponsor" some graphic directions if we need a specific logo
for this event :)

Tell me.

Hi Tim!
Please find attached a .zip of several shirt design files. I'm
including lots of file types, in the hope that the more formats I
shared, the more likely it will be that folks will be able to
customize the design as needed with their city names. There are the
original .ai files, .psds, a high-res .tif of the city-less design,
and a sample .gif of how one would ideally add their city name to the
customizable one. I hope it's all helpful and that it doesn't totally
clog up your inbox.

Please let me know if you need anything else!

Re: [Evangelism] demo.plone.org

2008-10-14 Thread David Sapiro - Pilot Systems

Hi Nate,

We created already 17.000 sites on objectis.org, 5.000 are still
active Plone sites.

Objectis is used to create demo sites by people. Because it's limited
in many ways :

1. total site size (10 Mb)
2. max size of one size is 1 Mb
3. no file system access
4. limited list of products

Right now, you need to explain your need on http://
myplone.objectis.org/ and is the demand is accepted, then you get a
validation code that is valid to create from 1 to n sites on
objectis.org.

If you think we can work something out of this existing architecture,
this will be cool.

Cheers,

Dave

PS : we're working on the EC2 to see if this can save us cost, it
will double or triple or infrastructure cost to move to EC2, so we're
not doing it at the moment. All the Objectis infra is paravirtualized
using Xen on 64 bits Intel Debian.

PPS : I think cross-posting is bad, Nate :)

place folks could go to try out Plone *before* downloading it. While
the installers make it very easy to try out Plone, some folks are
hesitant to install new software on their computer, and some IT depts
forbid it.

The demo.plone.org site would have logins for a standard unprivileged
user, a reviewer and an admin user. It would get cleared out every
night with a fresh Data.fs. This could be done with a simple script
that's executed on a scheduled basis using cron. We could use
something like Amberjack [1] or Flowgram [2] to create an interactive
guided tour to "hold the hand" of new users through the process of
creating new content, reviewing content, administering a Plone site,
etc.

what do folks think about this idea? I think it would be nice to have
this available to coincide with the launch of the newly redesigned
plone.org website.

two birds with one stone when making these phone calls.

I could take this on. Lets just figure out exactly what info we need
and I can make the calls. Coming up with a script seems cheesy but
it'd be easier if we make sure we ask the same exact questions and
can

record data accordingly.

I was chatting to David Shaipro @Pilot at the conference about
getting further info from what is on plone.net and yes we thought
phone calls would be the best way to validate the info. There are
~200 companies on plone.net. Would also be a good chance to plug
the plone.net sponsorship plan too. So maybe we wait until they
are in place. Between us 200 people would not be too much of an
issue. David's company have French and German covered, we can do
English, and if we can get someone to do Spanish then I think that
would probabaly cover the vast majority of the list.

I confirm Jérémie will do the job for French and German-speaking
companies. Jérémie, let's talk about this buthe end of week.

For Spanish, I cc Roberto :) Any time for that Roberto?

Just at the end of the sprint we setup an openplans project to co-
ordinate this. It is a private group, mainly as we might be
discussing sensitive information on here.

http://www.openplans.org/projects/plonecensus

This is a place to work between us, and yes, the results will be sent
to the PF in order to have sponsorship information, then a report
will be published on either Jon's blog or an Open Plans page, don't
worry :)

[Evangelism] Plone community partner for the Paris Open World Forum

Hi,

http://www.openworldforum.org/en/partners/

This page is being re-organized by the ITEMS people (organizer of the
conference). But the stuff is there : Plone is listed together with a
French org, Framasoft + the Apache Foundation, as a community partner
of the event.

The old logo is besoing replaces by the new one, they seem to have
some problems reading the logo info ;)

http://plone.org/about/logo/the-plone-logo/

Plone is also on the right column of the web site, listed as a partner.

Enjoy.

Any opinions?

[Evangelism] "Quitting Plone" post from PJ Grizel

2009-07-27 Thread David Sapiro - Pilot Systems

PJ wrote a book about Plone while at Ingeniweb. When Ingeniweb was
bought by Alter Way, he stayed a couple of yeard and then left the
company.

He's a good guy, IMVHO, that just got fedup of some cryptic evolution
of Plone and the tight link to the Zope Platform. Let's exchange some
arguments on the post, as it's not the kind of blog post we want
people to bounce at while finding about Plone ;)

- Where to store passwords? Is there a process for that employed
inside the foundation? Who handles access?
- Who needs to deal with "highjacked" pages like http://facebook.com/plone

I filled a report on Facebook about this guy (Paolo Bulleri).

I don't know the process about getting back a "FB name" to its TM
owner, but if 42 people do the same, fill a report on that guy, saying
he's using a TM as its name, then it will do something I guess.

Cheers,

- What is the process to get e.g. twitter and facebook buttons on
the homepage?

- Who has to decide on all the stuff?

And of course in general we need people sigining up for certain tasks.

Maybe have a look and give us some feedback!
