The company that TPF uses is http://www.wooden-nickel.com/. They only
produce coins and not larger things like coasters.

Should be able to get it done cheaper than that if you shop around. My usual
duplicator is UKP 0.48 in wallet per disc at a run of 1000.

Hi Karen,

Thomas Fahle has created a LiveDVD [1]. Would TPF pay for 1000 DVDs? It
would be about 850 EUR [2].

You are right about that - I managed to lose this message amongst the
hundred or so others that needed a response after the holidays :(

I was only given the information on price for the tuits and not the
information on who actually makes them. I'll find that out.

On the EPO list Jay Kuri suggested to hand out cardboard/fiber beer coasters.
This shop http://www.canadacoaster.com/pricing.php sells 5000 pcs for 500 USD
+ 100 USD shipping. (12c/pcs)

That made me think that we might have wooden beer coasters as well. While I know
this time of the year is not the best for trying to arrange things but Karen,
could you check please if the company that makes the wooden tuits
would also make
3.5-4" sized ones and how much would those cost?

Another thing we did for XCSoar (www.xcsoar.org) is to print business cards.

This was more appropriate for that project because it was a project rather than
an event, but was even cheaper than post cards.

We have often used post cards for our conferences (OSDC).
Amanda has some of the old art here:

http://amanda.dd.com.au/gallery/arch/commissions/open-sauce.html

I think they are cheap and an excellent advertising tool.

Mostly though, it is amazingly easy to get other groups to hand them out for
you. You can post a few around to user groups, conferences, even commercial
conferences, and generally people are happy to put them in registration bags or
at the desk.

The first 150 are really expensive (46 c/tuit) but then the rest is 13
cent/tuit
sounds reasonable. If we could order a larger batch e.g. 1500 pieces should be
less than 250 USD.
They could be given to our representatives not only on the conferences
where we have a booth but on other events as well.

e.g. I am sure there are going to be Perl hackers on the Australian Linux
Conference (in New Zealand) you mentioned. I added it to our list
of events. If there are people who are ready to be the representatives
we can already give them some of the tuits to hand out.

That sounds like a good idea maybe putting the list of YAPCs,
Perl Workshops in the coming 12 months - at least the ones we
already know about.

Postcards are not that expensive. We have printed 500 pcs. for our perl
magazine. Price? I have to look at the invoice...

But we should not only think about giveaways, but also about the
"design" of the booth. It should look professional. Maybe we need a
banner or something like this...
