It depends what you mean by religion. If you mean "institutionalized
theology", you are right. That kind of religion is what you get when
you throw out theology from academy, like the Romans did about 1500
years ago.

But the term religion is a fuzzy word, and sometimes it means ...
spirituality.

Now spirituality is also a fuzzy word, and some people can use it with
authoritative-arguments quite comparable to the "institutionalized
theology", sometimes.

Are you saying you believe in Bob, John? Your sumary reminds me more of a quote
by George Orwell:

“He was an embittered atheist, the sort of atheist who does not so much
disbelieve in God as personally dislike Him.”

You don't seem embittered to me, and you do ask good questions. If you go with
the Clough & Liebniz's theology, you actually have to somehow, contact this
person, named Bob, before you can ask your very, valid, questions. I am not
sure how we'd make contact with Bob, but I would ask a physicist, or ten, what
they would recommend?

Yes, Dr. Clough, it certainly is possible. Now, my though on this is to steal
skeptic, Michael Shermer, and his "Shermer's Last Law (a rip-off of AC Clarke)
which is: "Any sufficiently, advanced ET is indistinguishable from God." So
hypothetically our descendents might be able to perform a physical search for
this being, and being a conversation with Him. This is a non-religious view and
likely, incorrect, but I thought I would raise this proposal as an intellectual
exercise. How might we accomplish this? It seems worthwhile, but I couldn't
guarantee the premise is correct.

Nothing can be a mind until it has a thought, and nothing can begin unless
the sense of beginnings and endings is included in some thought,
experience, or awareness. Experience comes before beginnings, before
thoughts, and before God. God is a type of experience, but experience is
much more than a God.
