Can you be a little more specifc? What permissions didn't carry over?

When we installed Active Directory, a lot of permission didn't carry over.

Is your other server (the one that didn't fail) also a GC? You'll have
all sorts of problems if you don't have a live GC anywhere on your
network.

Hi There,
Thank for the reply. Yes it is, but I think I found the answer and the
solution. Its documented here:

This did the trick nicely by allowing me to increase the DS auery
Microsoft actually recommends it a best practice to run Exchange 2003
forestprep/domainprep before installing the Exch2003 ADC. SO your issue is
something else. We have done this exact scenario several times in our lab.
Actually the lab is one server running VMware GSX, all 6 servers used in the

I've seen the above document before .. and stuck with one-way
CA's after having problems with two-way connections where

Yeah.. true.. particular if you're dealing with large numbers
of CA's. Being able to map them out to individual OU's
Just a suggestion...
Set up one way connectors .. you'll likely save yourself a bit of pain in the process.
Perform the synch out of 5.5 into AD first and once happy with the results, create
another connection agreement back into the 5.5 environment.

OK, initial one-way from exchange to AD.. Then replace with a two way
agreement. This means that
all updates to exchange accounts must be done via the ex.5.5? Correct?

1) You'll need ESM installed on the second DC to view the Exchange

2) prior to running the upgrade, could you see the 55 server in the
configuration naming context container in AD? A config connection agreement
will need to be running for this info to replicate into AD and an
Yes, you can remove everything, and there's a KB article to tell you
how. But I don't know what the number is.
