all the kernel compile howtos i've read refer to the bzimage file that is created in ../i386/boot/ as the image to boot and indeed that works for me, however after a compile there is a much larger 'vmlinuz' file in /usr/src/linux/ what is this, i can't help noticing that is the same name as

I guess I need to rethink my plan for kernels. I thought 2.4.20 with preemptive patch would be a good move, but now I'm not so sure. I guess it's back to the research boards for me. My main complaint with Linux so far is the performance on high-end PC's, like my KX7-333 Board and Athlon XP
