Hello James, You seem to be a honest soul who preffers to stay out of negativity and have been regular in meditation so there would be no reason why you should not be able to join group meditations. The question is if such groups excist for TM'ers only. Simply contact the MUM course office to find out while you contemplate whether it's now time to learn the TM-Sidhis and join the big groups in the Domes. I haven't been in the Domes in Fairfield for 20 years myself but I have friends who travel over there regularily just to meditate in the big group and their reports from the effect of being in such a big group are simple marvelous. Re: [FairfieldLife] Unofficial Group Meditations in Fairfield
James, I don't live in Fairfield, either, but I will pass along a couple of pieces of advice. First, ignore Nablusos' advice and don't even *consider* learning the TM Sidhis; your money would be put to better use by flushing it down the crapper. Stick with basic TM, if it's done you good and no harm. Second, from what I hear there are non-TM movement groups in Fairfield that do not share the TM movement's Anything that does not come directly from Maharishi has cooties mentality, and might sponsor group meditations. I'm sure you'd be welcome at them. In general, on your visit enjoy the nice people you meet and be wary of any attempt to sell you something, as Nabby just did. That's all that the TM movement is about these days. Hi Jim and spouse, There's a room for meditators above the Orpheum Theater at the northeast corner of Broadway and 2nd St. Go around to the north entrance which faces the alley and municipal parking lot. There's an outer door marked for group program. Go up the stairs and down the hall, turn left, and down another hall you'll see a big sign indicating the room for meditators. Doors open at 7:15 am and 4:45 pm. If you arrive a little early you might run into a fellow named Wes. He and his wife retired here recently from Chicago. If you visit the first Friday of the month, that's when we have Art Walk and the galleries are open in the evening. Otherwise it's a pretty quiet town. Welcome and have fun! You could join with the official meditators - the MUM officials would just give you weird looks and encourage you to become governors as soon as possible. If you like Fairfield enough to move there then you could just start your own regular group. Having once lived in Fairfield, I suggest you make a couple visits in December and January to get the full flavor of the place. I had one mild winter there and one brutal one. Jim, welcome back; I would suspect that you could walk in to some churches here and sit to meditate. Like heck, what good is a Peace Palace for anyway if someone could not walk in and take 'quiet time' there? The times I have been visiting in California I have been able to walk in and meditate with the SRF in their group meditations. They have a short statement which says something like, 'we practice a silent meditation and you are welcome to sit with us so long as you do not interrupt or disturb our practice'. Thank you. That would take a lot of courage for the TM community to master. But, something short of that there must be something developing for meditators who pass through. It is true the four seasons are fully expressed in Fairfield. I work outside in them and I love them all. Fairfield is a great place to live and incredibly spiritual. Just this last weekend there were some deep and incredible spiritual satsangs in town also as a huge music festival was going on around the square and downtown. There are lectures and things going on up on campus all the time too. Other places are nice to visit but this is a fabulous spiritual place to live and grow that speaks a common spiritual language. So, let there be no doubt: The tide of war is receding. - Barack Obama, September 2011 The Obama Presidency has been a disaster - an incompetent administration so wrong about so much. And now his fancy rhetoric has come crashing down and we are left facing the reality. America's enemies are not receding, they are on the march and have doubled in size. My current Buddhist teacher is Younge Khachab Rinpoche, a scholar-yogin (Geshe Rabjam or Ph.D) and the 7^th incarnation (tulku) of a well known past yogin. http://www.youngedrodulling.org/index.shtml FWIW, I’ve received about 35 empowerments (starting in 1993) to the practice of various tantric Buddhist deities. The more significant point is that I received extensive instruction for performing some of the most important Nyingma devata-sadhanas. That includes the empowerment and extensive practice of the Vajrakilaya sadhana of Ratna Lingpa from Kusum Lingpa. I also received the complete Vajrasattva yoga-sadhana and mandala-visualization from HH Khamtrul Rinpoche, which was also my lineage authorization to study and practice Dzogchen. Of course, I have lots of sadhanas from my current teacher, Khachab Rinpoche, especially a powerful Ekajati protector sadhana. When Khachab first visited my house, he pointed at the traditionally carved Shiva Lingam and said Oh, original Tantra. For Hindu Tantric puja, I am trained to perform Mahârudrâbhišekam following the rule, method, formula (vidhi) of the Pâñcharâtra sampradâya. The standard Pâñcharâtra method is to perform mental puja (manasa) first and then follow it with the physical ritual. This involves requesting the deity’s retinue to emanate into the implements of the puja as the mantras are invoked for each implement. This procedure also involves distributing the mantras of the retinue onto the body (deha-anga-nyasa) of the worshiper. I began this practice by commissioning a yajña and thus was the yajamana (principle sacrificer) for a MahâRudrâbhišekam in the spring of 1992. The yajña was performed during a weekend retreat (with five other people joining). The sacrifice began with an Agni-hotra to Ganesh along with supplications to the shaktis of Agni-deva - Swaha-devi and Swadha-devi. During that time, the Devas and their retinue were required to wait outside the yajña-hall, along with their blindfolded murtis. They were thus unable to witness the preparations and could only wait outside the boundaries until their presence was requested. After finishing the Agni-hotra, the Devas were then worshiped in their united presence as /Shri Hiranyagarbha/ (the golden embryo). After that was completed, the abhišeka began and the Devas were requested to descend and participate. Another TM teacher was present and remarked that as each Deva was named and requested to descend, he could feel the spiritual field above the yajña expand, intensify with supernal radiance and envelope the activities. It was almost too much to bear with an ordinary nervous system, even with (at that time) 20 yrs of mediation, TTC and two bouts of long rounding. My only comparable experience was the radiance of the hall in Fiuggi when we received the mantras of initiation from MMY. The rudra-yajña itself was performed by a pujari trained in the 1970’s in Udupi, Karnataka by a Pañchratra Brahmana. (I’m in Texas and don’t have access to my files for his name.) The pujari who performed the abhišekam for me and then instructed me in daily performances was actually a Gaudiya Vaishnava, although he felt that the Pañcharatra method was the most sattvic for this Agamic method of worship. That's all that needs to be said for now. You still think I'm /trying to impress folks here that you know something”/? I just noticed the latest Gallup Poll. Obama sank bellow G W Bush and even Carter in favorability rating. Highest of living presidents was Clinton with 64%, followed by GHW Bush with 63%. Next was W at 53% and Carter with 52%. Obama brought up the tail with 47% but he still has another year and a half to go. At the rate, could easily end in the 20% range if he isn't impeached first. If you have question about it, you can start there. Most of my tantic training is in Buddhist tantra. My first teacher was Orgyen Kusum Lingpa, a terton (mind-treasure revealer) from Golak, Tibet. The rest of the personal story is incidental or as I like to say … */omgomaya gomaya swaha/*. If you don’t know what that means then look it up.

While mos people here appear to believe that your stance on the TM-Sidhis makes perfect sense, I'm actually kind of bewildered... Why on Earth haven't you and your wife become Sidhas? Is it really that difficult to believe that engaging in a mental process which leads to [more or less] spontaneous physical activity might actually stabilize pure consciousness during activity? The published research on EEG during the TM-Sidhis (not just during Yogic Flying) certainly supports Maharishi's claims on the topic, TM-SIdhis instruction can be virtually free if you are able to qualify for the available scholarships, there's a huge need for TM teachers right now if you speak languages like Spanish, Portuguese or any major African language. The David Lynch Foundation has potential contracts with refugee organizations that may require many 10's of thousands of new TM teachers. What keeps you from learning? The Netherlands nails another one. We now have more points than any other team in the World Cup. But we're Dutch, so we don't get all puffed up about it. We allow those from lesser-evolved countries to continue to believe they have a chance. For now. It's the Dutch version of compassion. :-) Then again, this is football (soccer, for Americans who play that pussy, padded, non-non-stop-running sport they refer to by that name). So anything could still happen. One of the reasons that the World Cup is called the World Cup is that most of the people on the planet get that football is non-predictable. A lot like life. :-) Note: Just as a pre-emptive strike, please no one ascribe the Netherlands' success thus far in the World Cup to the existence of Vlodrop and the theoretically massive amounts of Woo being generated by dwellers therein. Duh. If Maharishi had lasted long enough to watch these games, he'd have said that the players lost several years of their life by running for 90+ minutes and elevating their breath rate. :-)

/Trungpa Tulku/ is dead - he was the /Last Incarnation of the Vajradara/. They cremated the MMY, Suzuki, and the Trungpa, the latter after lying in salt for fifty days. After Trungpa died, they had a big ceremony just before he was about to be turned into ashes. Go figure. All the senior students gathered inside the enormous, orange-pillared /Dharmadhatu/ shrine hall, with its blue, red and gold trim. It was standing room only with the Trungpa disciples sitting in rows, upon the soft pillows, in practiced posture, evoking the mantras and the visualizations just like the lama had instructed them to do. Years later, I learned that both the Trungpa and his /Vajra Regent/ were gay alcoholics who had built, out of money donated by hapless students, a vast organization in the form of a co-dependent support group - both the Trungpa and the Vajra Regent literally drank and screwed themselves to death right in front of the whole assembly! And, they called it 'tantra', blessed by none other than the great /Kalu Rinpoche/, himself a great philanderer. So much for the /tantrics./ LoL! What if you woke up in the morning and found out that the civil war in Iraq and Syria had spread to Jordan? The Syrian civil war is no longer the Syrian civil war. It’s a regional war that started in Syria, has expanded into Lebanon and Iraq, and has drawn in the Iranians and to a lesser extent the Kurds and the Israelis. Wars in North Africa tend to stay local, but wars in the Levant spill over and suck in the neighbors. As I pointed out, the EEG research on the TM-SIdhis shows that it has the same effects on EEG as TM does, but more-so, so if you think that the EEG effects of TM practice are beneficial, it makes sense that you should be thinking that the EEG effects of practicing the TM-Sidhis might be beneficial as well. Best Regards, -Buck There is so much to do and so little time to do it all here. Lot of people get the Fairfield Weekly Reader when it is published on Thursdays and get out their own calendars and schedule their coming week. There is a tremendous amount of high level and spiritual culture here functioning in lots of guilds and satsang. Anyone can find groups interested in what they are interested in. The meditator community is generally an over-educated group and as such it tends to be an interested and activist's community. That is a lot of what makes the place so special. Being here for four decades now this is quite facilitated and developed now. It is quite spiritual that way, in so many ways. -Buck It is true the four seasons are fully expressed in Fairfield, Iowa.
