Trump and Coulter both appear to be part of a cadre of mean-spirited clowns,
blowhards, and simpletons for the powers that be. Any time spent on them is
another minute of air time filled, another left-hand turn into some
manufactured absurdity, away from any issue that matters. They always gain
power when people are angry and dissatisfied, ranting and raving about anything
that will catch the public's ear, but always failing the test of setting
something out that is sound and sustainable.

Emotional sound-byte popcorn is all they are, and about as useful. It doesn't
make it any more fun that they are as you say, toxic. They drain people's
energy with their negative ideas, and confuse them with their incoherent flood
of crap. Aside from however they are dressed up, they remain mouthpieces of
distraction, and vain little peacocks, doing anything to remain in front of the
mirror, and therefore easily manipulated.

2016-06-01 Thread jr_...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
S3,

You're correct in what you're saying. That's why the USA would not
voluntarily declare bankruptcy. The US economy is actually running on its
potential production capability as insurance to pay for its bills. It would be
catastrophe for the entire world and the USA itself if it declared bankruptcy.

That's why the Reserve Board is carefully controlling the interest rates by
keeping it low for the past 8 years to keep the economy healthy, to avoid
inflation, and hope that events leading to world-wide financial collapse could
be avoided.

It can be done by keeping the fed rate low as long as inflation is relatively
low as well. Over time, the national debt will be payable as salaries
increase, employment rises, and the stock market keep rising. The old debt is
based on past dollars. So, over time the new tax revenues, which have more
purchasing power than the old dollars, can easily pay for the national debt
that is based in past interest rates.

So, that appears to be the Reserve Board's strategy which is basically
"kicking the can down the road" hoping that the future interest rates will be
lower than it is now.

It appears feasible since the banks appear to be relying on mortgage
derivatives as "safe" investment for the future. These derivatives, however,
can be compared to building a house with a deck of cards. So, there you have
it. The future of global finance is safe as l ong as the wind doesn't blow.
Let's hope the national debt is paid before the house of cards falls.

Subject: [FairfieldLife] How America can Pay for its $20 trillion National Debt

It can be done by keeping the fed rate low as long as inflation is relatively
low as well. Over time, the national debt will be payable as salaries
increase, employment rises, and the stock market keep rising. The old debt is
based on past dollars. So, over time the new tax revenues, which have more
purchasing power than the old dollars, can easily pay for the national debt
that is based in past interest rates.

So, that appears to be the Reserve Board's strategy which is basically "kicking
the can down the road" hoping that the future interest rates will be lower than
it is now.

It appears feasible since the banks appear to be relying on mortgage
derivatives as "safe" investment for the future. These derivatives, however,
can be compared to building a house with a deck of cards. So, there you have
it. The future of global finance is safe as l ong as the wind doesn't blow.
Let's hope the national debt is paid before the house of cards falls.

yesterday, he went on a tirade against the media and how dishonest and
politically bias they are, something many people have recognized for decades,
yet gave little voice to. He gives voice to what has been mulling around in
people's minds but were afraid to say. It started with his stand on illegal
immigration. He was nobody until he brought that up. He said Mexico isn't
sending their *finest*. "they are sending murderers, rapists, drug dealers etc
etc. Of course the media and Democrats spun it as *he is calling all Mexicans
murderers, rapists and drug dealers*. And then you had an illegal alien
criminal that had been deported 5 times shoot down a young woman in cold blood
with no motive, while she was walking with her family in a public place and
then stories like that started popping up all over the country. He identified a
problem that no one would address.

[FairfieldLife] Dr. Alexander on free will

2016-06-01 Thread yifux...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
In the face of materialistic determinism, Dr. Eben Alexander draws upon ideas
from quantum mechanics, interconnectedness, and the universality of
Consciousness in an attempt to refute the non-free will argument. Does he
succeed? He needs more specifics in his presentation, but it's a good step in
the right direction.
Another point he brings up is the possible influence on decisions among those
who believe that the universe is fully deterministic and therefore without free
will. Again, he needs to follow through a bit more on this angle.

 Don't forget Wayward Pines tonight!

2016-06-01 Thread dhamiltony...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
Yes, it is a really interesting story of a type in communal studies, and of
course integral to FairfieldLife for those of us who live here. I am off now
to the Weds silence-based Quaker Meeting here in Fairfield and then have farm
work to do until the sun goes down. But I will return after some while to
share some of the story. I was also getting this ‘index’ material ready
otherwise to share with some scholars and journalists who look in on this sort
of thing. More to come,
 Kind Regards from Fairfield, -D

If he got into power and then started really screwing things up - not just for

I think the presidents hands are largely tied and all his hot air will turn out

[FairfieldLife] Black Holes are Holograms

2016-06-01 Thread jr_...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
IOW, scientists are saying that black holes are illusions. Although they
appear three-dimensional, black holes are actually exist in two dimension.
Leonard Susskind from Stanford University theorizes that all of the information
inside the black hole exist in its wall.

The case for black holes being nothing but holograms just got even stronger

If anything can sum up just how little we truly know about the Universe, its
black holes. A new study suggests they are nothing but an optical illusion.

[FairfieldLife] Des Moines Register: Why Fairfield is thriving when so many Iowa towns aren't [2 Attachments]

Why this Iowa town is thriving when so many aren't

Fairfield out-performed all of the state's 16 micropolitan areas in terms of
population growth between 2010 and 2015 Zach Boyden-Holmes/The Register

(Photo: Zach Boyden-Holmes/The Register)
FAIRFIELD, Ia. — Take a walk around this town's bustling square and you'll see
an array of businesses that would rival some shopping malls.

On one corner sits a coffee shop that roasts its own beans in house. Down the
block is a store specializing in sustainable children's clothing and toys.
Along another strip, there's a women's boutique, a Verizon store and a
nutrition company.

The town's retail center also is home to a salon, a consignment store, a
furniture store and an art gallery. Just off the square is a pet spa, a natural
remedy store and a photography studio. And for those looking for a bite to eat:
a Thai restaurant, an Indian cafe, an Italian spot and a joint peddling pizza
and steak.

In fact, local officials count only one vacancy in the storefronts that line
shady Central Park. It's just one more sign of success in this town of 9,500 in
a state where most small cities and rural areas are seeing residents leave.

Since 1969, census data show Iowa's metropolitan areas have gained nearly a
half million people, while smaller cities and rural places have lost more than
171,000 residents.

But Fairfield has prospered, particularly in recent years. Between 2010 and
2015, the city saw a 4 percent population gain — a rate that rivaled the growth
of some of Iowa's much larger metro areas.

This southeast Iowa city is known as a magnet for practitioners of
Transcendental Meditation at Maharishi University of Management, who flocked
here since the 1970s. Fairfield was able to capitalize on that unique niche,
building a surprisingly metropolitan quality of life.

While Fairfield is home to 1,000 fewer jobs than it had 15 years ago, state
figures show employers have rebounded in the last five years, adding nearly 700
jobs between 2010 and 2015. During that time, Fairfield went from 714 employers
to 751, according to Iowa Workforce Development.

"We have a great quality-of-life culture and an entrepreneurial culture," said
Mayor Ed Malloy. "And we see it is allowing more young people to put down roots
in this community."

Around town, there is no shortage of small-city staples like Casey's General
Store and Pizza Ranch, though Fairfield is better known for its funky coffee
houses, shops and restaurants. Locals claim the city is home to more
restaurants per capita than San Francisco.

Yet the place that Oprah Winfrey dubbed "America's most unusual town" is more
than just quirky. It's one of the few nonmetropolitan areas in Iowa posting
strong population growth, according to U.S. Census figures. And around town,
evidence abounds that Fairfield has done what so many small cities in the
Midwest struggle to achieve: attract and retain people.

I won't be holding my breath. The media is no longer a group of outlets aligned
around major population centers, with legitimate points of view, earned from
years of regional focus. That version is gone. Now, media is concentrated among
ten huge global corporations (see link) that decide what the rest of us see,
hear, and read. Trump is one of theirs, so any scrutiny is for entertainment
purposes, and advertising revenue gains, only.

Who cares if Trump insults a bunch of well paid corporate journalists? The
corporations who employ them couldn't care less, as long as what he says
generates headlines and controversy, and once again, advertising dollars for
them. When the goal of the "news" outlets is to religiously turn a profit, any
attempt at fair play or truth or real change, goes out the window. Fox was the
case study, and the rest have followed suit.

After the article was published, almost everyone of them refuted what had been
printed and how they were portrayed and how Trump was portrayed. Trump fights

hit. Of course a disproportionate counter isn't *fair* in their minds.

I think Trump just made one of the biggest mistakes of his doomed bid for the
White House so far yesterday. When you completely alienate the media like that
you do yourself no favors. I think the press is going to start to get a lot
tougher with him now - they are like a band of brothers and while I blame them
for having given him wayyy too much air time and have contributed to his
popularity due to high exposure I think we are about to see a significant shift
in how he is dealt with and it will provide, among other things, another excuse
for him to whine and snivel.

Re: [FairfieldLife] Re: Hawking on Trump

2016-06-01 Thread Mike Dixon mdixon.6...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
I think this election is going to be decided on one major thing and that is
*trust*. Elite Republicans, elite Democrats and  particularly, Hillary, have
proven to not be trust worthy. They lie to the people, over and over again.
Based on that, Trump hasn't disqualified himself...yet. The media is trying
desperately to do so. That is what this whole mess is about, regarding the
donations to the vets. The media thinks that if they can prove that he lied
about raising money for veterans that that would be a chink in his armor of
trust worthiness. The public is already on to this line of attack and Trump's
counter attack on the trust worthiness of the media has laid a strong
foundation for any defense he might have to raise in the future. Quite frankly,
many people if not most don't trust the media any more than they trust elite
Republicans, Democrats or Hillary.
Many people are willing to overlook many of the things Trump says as his just
not being a career politician and doesn't know the fine art of lying or
spinning.*Trust* will be the key to this election.

2016-06-01 Thread Mike Dixon mdixon.6...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
Since last summer, nearly every person in the media has said exactly that. "Oh
sh*t, he did it this time!" The media can't help themselves. Every time he says
something *controversial*, they have to report it. The media thrives on
controversy. It's big news. They thrive on sensationalism. The more they attack
him, the better he looks! They prove his point. He uses the media to his
advantage. It's kind of like the principal in Judo. You use your opponent's
momentum to take him down. He makes the media's bias very obvious which makes
people question the media and their ability to report the news accurately and
honestly.Soon people start using the media as reverse barometer.

Just watched a few moments of Trump's media tirade and he actually points out
and publicly ridicules individual member of the media that he says *lie* or
manipulate the truth. It wasn't that long ago a New York Times piece was
written about how he disrespects women. These women were interviewed and named.
After the article was published, almost everyone of them refuted what had been
printed and how they were portrayed and how Trump was portrayed. Trump fights
back when he thinks he's unfairly attacked and he hits much harder than he was

Well-off people always like to think there's something wrong with the

the rush for greater profits for management, Outsourcing and immigration really

It has nothing to do with "well-off"; there are plenty of people who have no
idea why anyone could not see through the charlatan, the narcissistic blowhard
that is Trump including every single Canadian I have ever spoken to about it. I
know dozens of people in the US who are not economically privileged who see him
for the fraud that he is. Desperation doesn't necessarily make one blind or
stupid. Trump is not giving "a voice to the people who have been forgotten and
sidelined ..."; Trump is giving voice to his own megalomaniacal craziness and
is out for himself only. I think he has incited a latent hatred in his
followers - it is a cliche and a meme that, through enough repetition, has
stuck with reference to those who find him appealing are doing so based on
economic hardship. His followers, many of them, represent racially bigoted and
often heavily patriotic white people who are just chomping at the bit for a
chance to act out this hatred.

Outsourcing is the result of market demand. Those same people who are so
outraged when jobs move to Mexico or India or Vietnam are those same people who
shop at Costco and Walmart because they can get the foreign-made products
cheaper. You can't have it both ways - either buy local or shut up.

The problem of course is that Trump is full of shit, he isn't a champion for
the workers at all, as his campaign flags etc are made in China, the people who
he employs as servants in his mansions aren't even allowed to talk to him. He's

 Trump, the billionaire, privileged, spoiled,
born-with-a-silver-spoon-in-his-mouth rich kid is "an outsider like them"? Huh?
He has no idea how the other half lives nor does he care. It has nothing to do
with "outsider", it has to do with an inability to see that he is one of the
most politically, morally and ethically corrupt people who is trying to pass
himself off as a spokesmen for those who 'want a change'. The fact that anyone,
for one moment, thinks Trump is "like them" has lost their marbles but it is
not about that anyway. It is about hearing what you want to hear, ignoring the
warning signs that Trump shows the world in spades every time he opens his
mouth and choosing exclusion of other races and other cultures as a means to
give yourself an imaginary leg up in the world.
