 Feste,
 

 Comey is stuck in the so called "material world" which he has to function in 
since he is the director of the FBI, one  who is to provide an objective 
conclusion.  Scientifically speaking, he has to make a determination if there 
is an evidence whether a violation of the laws has occurred or not.  Without 
any evidence, he cannot make any definite conclusion.  However, he can make a 
statement that he has no evidence to make a conclusion.  As such, any number of 
scenarios can be possible: a)  Hillary is innocent, b) Hillary is guilty, c) 
Trump staged the entire event to force the investigation, d) the Russians were 
trying to influence the election.  Given the situation, Comey will more likely 
say Hillary is innocent or that there is no evidence to show that any violation 
was committed.

I'm a little behind regarding last Friday's news, but the FBI director reminds 
me of a bad soccer referee who after a particular incident refuses to award one 
team a penalty kick in the first half of a match and is so vilified by the team

Even the local election is a pain in the ass.  Every day the mail 
carrier has to deliver a fist load of mailings from supporters of this 
and that city and county candidate and supporters of propositions. I got 
no less than seven of those yesterday. It's enough to make one write in 
"none of the above" for the candidates and "no" on most of propositions.


Yup, this may well be the last days of the republic.
