Re: [FairfieldLife] Re: help again!
Thanks Steve - I realized after your response that I have never talked about this in the past, at least not to my knowledge and so I'm glad it gave you that extra perspective into my most-defining, tumultuous, love-hate relationship. You have to remember I was not on any spiritual, religious utopia. I would have been happy like many of my classmates from back school in India, like any other successful Indian immigrants to have a successful life, a home in the suburbs, a Merc in the garage, kids in the best schools - you know that thing about the American dream. I would have been conservative and voted Romney like most of others - oh well not - anyway I had fun mocking Romney and conservatism with my friends - recognizing my talents no one would get into a debate with me. They are more concerned about their stock portfolios, families than some hopeless idealism, romanticism like me. On Sat, Jun 8, 2013 at 2:12 PM, seventhray27 wrote: > ** > > > You know Ravi. No Steve, it was on the same topic but was not related to Ann's reading. I didn't claim to be an expert or possessing more knowledge on astrology - I have stressed elsewhere that I have a good grasp of the fundamentals - devoid of dogma. I was clear that I was there to insult the misogynistic culture of the Oriya Brahmins owing to my feeling empathy with my ex's pain. She was fighting imaginary battles with men, with her society, with her conditioning with her pain when she was with me, but reality was I was not part of it, I was not fighting her, I was being loving and supportive. I was never going to control her, suppress her - I strived 100% trying to understand her. She couldn't ever be truly intimate, loving and vulnerable because she was constantly under threat but I wasn't part of it though I got pulled into it. Yet despite all this I never stop loving and expressing empathy for her, yet I refused to be a part of her imaginary world and had to extricate myself out of however painful it was for me - though it was real for her at one point of her life. I am not in the HTML > editor, but Yahoo does it anyway. Now when I post this, we will see if those > 'spaces' remain as visual spaces or are converted to something else. In HTML if you type more than one space it will only display one space. If you are editing HTML in plain text and just do a carriage return at the end of word just to keep it readable in the editor it will just run into the next word when display so one has to remember to add a space at the end of the word. Why not just use a rich text editor? Some of them generate really terrible HTML code, that's why. As you know, there is an HTML tag ( ) for a space and multiple tags can be entered for more spaces. On Thunderbird I'm given the option to view the source of a message and the source for this one is using another set of codes for HTML formatting which is an equal sign with a hex code number. The equal sign tells the means that character is "equal to" the following value as a hex number (base 16) which is special character or one with a value greater than 127. At that it is a form of shorthand instead of using an ampersand and pound sign prefix. http://www.ascii.cl/htmlcodes.htm Share's problem was "perhaps" the text character encoding setting and some programs won't let you change that. > >> So, in a misguided attempt to keep it from doing >> this, your program (probably Yahoo Mail) is, when >> you type two spaces in a row, replacing the first >> of them with a non-breaking space. A friend mentioned the video yesterday so I checked it out. Not really a fan of the show but understand the restaurant business enough to get what Ramsay is doing. And it's also akin to about any kind of management situation. Amy would have done well to stick to just being a bakery. Ramsay thought her deserts were great. I think he hinted at that. My point about the video is how much "in denial" Samy and Amy were about their product. They seemed very delusional. The video has gone viral all over the net according to my friend. Maybe I should find the "readers digest" version for folks here. Tip for horror movie fans here "Mama" is a very good ghost story and actually scarey. It's available for rent at kiosks and some of the rental streaming places. Hard to say when it will come to Netflix but now that Comcast owns Universal it may eventually show up there. It looks like Comcast's business model is beginning to reflect that of Sony or Lionsgate when it comes to films and to get it out in as many channels as possible than leave some money on the table. Jessica Chastain does a great job playing her character in the film.

Aha! A Windoze weirdness or maybe HP. You may have accidentally set an offbeat text character encoding standard. That was the problem on the Mac and a subject of several tech blogs on the subject. And a cursory search on "Windows weird email characters" will bring up a number links to articles too. I'm using UTF-8 in Thunderbird and this post. I think part of the problem too is that so many software engineers are assuming everyone is using Rich Text for email these days too. Thank you, turq and I also want to apologize because coming back from the hospital I realized that telling a man he made a mountain out of a molehill is like when a man tells an upset woman that she's being emotional. Kind of stupid on my part. Anyway, there, I only put one space. Let's see what happens. How the heck am I gonna break that habit that's so ingrained in my cells?! The  marks are being inserted by whatever program you're using to write to FFL. And to "be helpful," I think I know how you can stop it from doing so. The problem is the program's not yours per se, but you're causing it by typing two spaces after a period. That's an old convention from typewriters, something that is never used in actual publication, or (more relevant) in HTML. HTML will strip out double spaces and replace them with single spaces. So, in a misguided attempt to keep it from doing this, your program (probably Yahoo Mail) is, when you type two spaces in a row, replacing the first of them with a non-breaking space. This preserves the double-spacing in HTML, but unfortunately many browsers convert this non-breaking space to the  symbol we see all over your posts. As a guess, I'll bet that if you stopped typing double spaces after every period, the problem would go away. > > From: Xenophaneros Anartaxius > To: FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Thursday, June 6, 2013 7:57 AM > Subject: [FairfieldLife] Re: help again! > > Yes.
