Thanks for your most pleasant reply Mary...I greatly
appreciated it. I think my biggest questions right
now is transmission. I have 4 cats already in my
house. I have the momma and kittens in a spare room
with a baby gate and a towel at the bottom of the baby
gate plus, the spare room has wood
That is totally brilliant news. What a wonderful start to the week. Well
done to everyone involved. It's wonderful that all your incredible
effort paid off and brought Sammi home safely. Kerry M

Hi Sheryl,
I'm new on this list as well. Your house sounds like mine. I also have 3
FELV+ kits to find homes for and may have a Mom and her 5 kittens that are
positive as well. All my cats are indoor cats and the Mom and kittens are
from a breeder that shut down and I have no idea where
This is so amazing!! What a heroic effort was made by all
involvedbravo and brava to all concerned, and vibes that the family
can now resume some normalcy, after mourning the one they truly lost.
And hugs to Sammi, poor scared baby. I bet she is one happy girl now!

Hi Deb,
I am not sure where you are located, but there are
sanctuaries for FELV cats. There is one in NC,
Nevada, and I have heard that there is one in Buffalo,
NY as well which is very close to me. I am hoping one
of them will accept my momma and babies or I will
continue to try and find homes

Hi Everyone,
I just realized that I never introduced myself to this group and was referred
here by Mary Christine who has been a wealth of info for me. I've posted on so
many lists I just can't keep things straight anymore! Anyway , My name is Deb

Hi Deb,
For the testing - I would look for a group in your area which has an account
with IDEXX. They get the tests very cheaply.
I can't draw blood because it is a two person job. My vet draws the blood
for me and I supply the tests.

Hi Sheryl,
Sorry you had to find us but glad your here asking for some help and
information.
I can tell you this is a very vital group to belong to. We all have our
opinions on different things as you will find out. Some of us mix
negatives/positives and some don't. I'm one that does
That is so good to hear that you have had cats do all
that and remain negative. I really want my neighbor
to be able to adopt this negative boy I am nursing
back to health. He is such a sweetheart. She also
wants one who was not born to the positive momma but
has nursed from her pretty much

I have 5 cats--2 Pos, 3 Neg. One of the pos tested neg when she was a
kitten then showed pos when she was about 4 years old. She had never been
outside since I got her at about 10 weeks; never been exposed to cats other
than the one I had at the time and two others that came in as kittens

send out the IFA, too. and she's in a really expensive part of the world!

your vet told you that the ones who tested positive will always be positive?
no one can say that without having some retesting done.
Oh, no, sorry, I wasn't thinking of the IFA. Sorry for the mistake.

The problem with making crunchy dry kibble homemade is that the things that
make food get crunchy in the oven (Grains, Flours, Meals) are not the best
food for cats. If I were to try it myself, I would make a cooked ground beef
based cat food (brown the ground beef, drain thoroughly, and press out
Or at least cheaper..I have a prescription..will need to be bought

Cheaper than what? I order from www.1drugstore-online.com but it's from
outside the US and takes a week or 10 days to get to me in California.

not in ten days.:(

If you must buy this in the next couple of hours it sounds like an online
purchase won't do, is that correct? If you need it right away, I would call
all the pharmacies in your area and ask how much for the prescription you
have. When I did this I found one that was $15 cheaper than any of
Correct, an online purchase will not do. I will try to call everyone. Thanks.

If it's for a uri or pneumonia, zith is really effective.

Hi Christiane,
I appreciate you sharing your experience with me.I wonder how often a
situation like yours really occurs? Are there many other people on this
list that also mix their negative and positive cats with the same outcome of
not transmitting it to the negatives? My cats will
oh, i expect you'll get LOTS of stories from folks on the list about mixing,

I once talked to somebody on another board who reminded me that this is an

There are likely many many cats who are positive and whose owners have no
idea. First off,
Have you ruled out panleukopenia?
These are tiny kittens who started off on the wrong paw to begin with. Was
the mom who stopped nursing vaccinated during the pregnancy or while nursing?
FYI: BNP ointment is far superior to terramycin.
