I would not treat all year.
I had to treat mine last month and I am going to do it again this week for
fleas, but prior to that I had not treated anyone for 2years.
This is a bad year, too much rain.
Have they been itching @ all?
Have you seen any fleas?
Usually by the time you actually SEE
I use the dog size too.
It takes about 6 tubes to treat all on cats.

Please make sure the Baytril is low dose.
Baytril causes blindness in cats in higher doses.
One vet attributed Frankie's blindness to several rounds of low dose baytril.
Another vet thinks his blindness is genetic.

Thanks so much for you letter. It made me cry because it was such a
beautiful letter, and because in some way it brought me peace.
Thank you again, you'll never know what this has meant to me, and thank
you everyone else for your thoughts and prayers.

I used Revolution on my Monkee for the 4 years that I had him and we never had a skin reaction or any other problems. I used it because I wanted to kill as many worms as possible because he had been living outside at lease 6 mths and eating a rabbit, a dove, etc. a day (if not more than one per
I have not been keeping up with this thread... but I saw heartworms and
decided to read more. *Everyone: Please don't be naive about heartworms!*
Take it from someone who has been heartbroken over losing a kitty that was
misdiagnosed with Asthma (when it was heartworms - diagnosed by necropsy).
Who is Dr.Jones?
Is that Blatt's wife?
I bet if you asked Dr. Smith he would say heartworms is not that common.
Heis out of town, willbe back on Wed.
I will ask him.

Missy has an 8 mm hole in her heart.

Well, she might know her stuff as far as cardio health, but all of her
credability w/me went out the window when I found that she was in charge of
the cruel Primate test lab out in Bastrop, which in owned by UT.
I knew that her her husband had been involved in this type of research in
Hawaii
I went to that specialty hospital before I went to her.
Now we are going to see Dr. Miller at Texas AM...for a 3rd opinion.

Hi Leslie,
We just started on this thread, we got side tracked from fleas
treatments,soyou haven't missed much.
I am sorry to hear that you lost a kitty to heartworms, and that you have 2
more that have tested pos.
So, there no treatment for it, but what is the vet telling you to do from
I think I mentioned filling milk/water bottles/jugs with water, freezing them
into a solid mass, and putting bottle and all into the water dish. Big chunks
melt much slower than cubes. Consider cracking the gate a little with a chain
and padlock so they can slip in but bigger beings can't.
Hi gang,
Funny, we were also discussing heartworms on another list today.
Here is a link that was sent to me, I have not reviewed it, so, let me know
what you think.
Susan - Found this website that seems to have loads of cat info on heartworm.
The video/animation is pretty cool.
Hi Susan
Great link. I always thought that this is what Tiny died from. I did not
have a necropsy done. My poor cat was dead. I even asked a vet the summer
before he died if it was possible he has heartworm. She did not test and
gave him a Revolution treatment like that would take care of his

Hi,
The reason I suspected heartworm is because he had a transient cough most of
his short life. I knew cats could get heartworm and I always worried about
this. She mainly used the revolution because of his ear mites. I am always
battling these here. She may well be the vet that told me it might
I know w/dogs, it's a series of 2 painful shots on either side of their heart,
and bedrest for 6 weeks afterwards.
Very important about the bedrest..
When we received heartworm pos. dogs in the shelter where i worked, they didn't
want to treat them until they were in a home
Hmmm, seems like she should of @ least tested kitty prior to giving him
Revolution.
I know w/ dogs, you NEVER give them a preventative treatment UNLESS they have
been tested, because it could kill them.
I am sorry, Sally, for poor little Tiny
