Re: [Felvtalk] Scoopable Litter

2012-10-10 Thread Lynda Wilson
Hi Edna

You must have a sensitive nose. I don’t smell it when the urine hits the
clumping pine. I truly love this cat litter and so do my fur-boys, thank
goodness. It really has improved immensely. I just wish Petsmart would not
store it on the top shelf. The box is almost twice as heavy as it was before
they improved it (I purchase the clumping litter – not the hard pellets in the
bag).

I hope you and your fur-kids like it just as well, Lorrie.

Whatever works for all our fur-babies, right?!

I am glad some can use the pine litter. I couldn't stand the smell once it
interacts with poop and/or urine -

[Felvtalk] FW: Searching For Foster People / No Kill / Rescues in NY on Long Island

2012-10-10 Thread Natalie
I could post your plea on the Animal SOS Alert – I don’t know anyone personally
since I am in CT, but it might help. The last 2 paragraphs would do. There’s
a large number of groups and individual rescuers who participate in this
network. This also happens to be a rally bad time with cold weather
approaching when truly needy cats need to be taken off the streets right now!
Let me know if you would like me to do it and if yo u would like to add
anything to it. Would you like to list your telephone number, too?

I've been lucky in that most of my kitten rescues turned out negative, but I am

why are the sweetest ones always pos?!

Anyway, I've become overwhelmed with the sheer number of kitties that I'm
dealing with (24) and even though I've been working with The Brookhaven Animal
Alliance to get them all fixed, I'm at my wits end. I'm trying to find foster
parents for at least six little darling 7 month old ragdoll kittens. Some are
loners and can go on their own, others could be paired for comfort...they are
all indoor-outdoor cats (they have a kitty-run on my deck outside) and every
one of them is a love.

Does anyone know of anybody doing fostering in my area (Suffolk County) and
could you please let me know their contact info? I have tried asking some of
the gals that I know, and they are booked up solid.

Although this IS off topic in one way, as I said before, we do not live
in a bubble and when, thankfully there are no cats whose caregivers are
in dire need of FeLv advice, we should be allowed to wander off topic
for a while.  Maybe we should begin our off topic discussions with the
disclaimer - "Since there are no caregivers needing advice with a dire
problem at this time, let's discuss..."

For the most part, given
the inflammatory nature of this particular election, I think we have
been more than courteous and polite both to the candidates and to each
other. I for one NEVER brought into the discussion anything but what the
candidates are saying and how I feel about what they are offering.  I
never personally met Mr. Romney or Mr. Ryan or President Obama or Vice
President Biden so I can't say whether or not I
personally like any of them.  But I can understand how each of their
platforms would impact my life and my ability to care for my cats.
That's really all that matters to me.  If Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse
were running, it wouldn't matter as long as each had a platform that I
could evaluate and either accept or reject.

2012-10-10 Thread Maureen Olvey

But some of the statements about the platform itself were incorrect. So the
platform was presented unfairly in some cases and that can be very annoying
too. Maybe more so than actually bashing the candidate. Not that you or
anyone else intentionally said things about the platform which were incorrect.
There are things I've heard about the Democratic platform that I'm sure aren't
true so it does happen but it's hard to debate in this forum. It would just
generate a whole bunch of other discussions that wouldn't go
anywhere because getting to the truth regarding politics just doesn't happen.
Truth and politics are two words that should never be used in the same
sentence. Also, I worry that if a person with a FeLV + cat joined the group
right this minute and heard all this talk about the Republican platform and
he/she happened to be a Republican it would be hard for them to stay on the
list and get information that might help the cat. Just seems fruitless and
possibly detrimental to continue the discussions.

I don't post very often but had to put my 2 cents in on this topic.  I think if
more people would vote for the person they think would do the best job instead
of getting hung up on the party this country would be a heck of alot better.  I
have voted for Republicans and Democrats for President.  I don't agree with
getting on here and bashing another party.   I really don't think this is the
forum for politics.

I really think this discussion has turned to a Republican bashing session.  We
Republicans disagree with almost everything you guys have said but there's no
point of getting into it because no amount of discussion will change your
mind.  And that's okay because that's what makes America great - we can
disagree without feeling the threat of reprisal.  It is interesting to hear the
Democratic views and what things you believe but some things are just not true
like the supposed "war on women."  Mitt and Paul do not have the complete
authority to do some of the things mentioned and many Republicans wouldn't go
along with these kinds of things anyway.  But it's okay with me if that's what
you believe, I just don't think we can intelligently debate all the facts when
we are not in the "inner circle."  I think we've worn the topic out and nothing
you guys have said will make me change my mind about Obama and obviously I will
never change your minds about
Republicans so let's talk about something else like animal abusers and trying
to get the death penalty for them.  Just kidding - well kind of.

Thanks for the responses. Just a note, we already use a metal water bowl,
