unfortunately, they dump their children too. a representative of the Baptist
Children's Home in St. Louis was at our church and i was complaining about
people dumping their animals. he said the home gets more than you would think
that were taken on a picnic or some other outing. parents said "oh, i forgot
something. you stay here and i will be right back>" never came back. did
leave note pinned on child's clothes asking that they be taken to children's
home. how traumatic can that be to a 5 or 6 year old. like i said, until we
change the hearts of men, these things will continue. animals are more honest.
you know which ones you can and cannot trust. dorlis

me too! i lost 2 close a month apart last year, then my father (92) and then
my last baby who was 18. he took care of father his last year, coming for me
when father called me and sitting on the cornerf his bed, never leaving him.
he died 1 week after father. of course, God gave me 6 more in rapid succession
to take his place and now my life is full again. dorlis

Re: [Felvtalk] Tigerlily Please add to the CLS Patrick

2009-06-02 Thread Diane Rosenfeldt
Laura, hugs to you and gentle Bridge vibes to Patrick. Thank you for giving
him a home when others gave up on him. I'm sure he appreciated it. I took
in someone's old cat, and she seemed comfortable but she just didn't thrive.
I'd still like to beat her owner with a stick. She had had Fluffy 17 years.
For a while a friend lived with her who had a cat, and the cats didn't like
each other but they were company for each other. When the friend moved out,
Fluffy started crying a lot, and instead of taking her to the vet to try to
fingure out what was wrong, she was just going to put her to death. I
worked at the same place as this woman and always thought she was a little
"off" emotionally, and when she said that, I said we would take Fluffy. In
our multi-cat household, Fluffy never cried again, so I think in her way she
had just missed the other kitty. (She didn't get along with ours very well
either but she just avoided them.) But I think she was still grieving for
her mommy, who, when we did have to take her to be put to sleep (renal
failure), did not show up to be with her, which to me is inexcusable.
(Fluffy's mom also decided to opt out of being maid of honor at her best
friend's destination wedding by just not being on the airplane the night
before, and was just utterly nonchalant about it when the tearful bride
called her -- "oh, I just had some personal stuff, so I decided not to come
-- ", so her treatment of Fluffy was just part of a pattern of emotional
dysfunction!)

[Felvtalk] Tigerlily Please add to the CLS :(

2009-06-01 Thread Sherry DeHaan
I am so sorry to say that Tigerlily lost her battle yesterday. She had quickly
deteriorated overnight. She was one of those cats that won you over right
away. She had a way of talking to you with littlr ppss. This has been a
rough week for us volunteers, but even rougher for Dr. Jen.
Yesterday I forwarded a few of your kind words to her and it really made her
feel good. She said she really needed it. So thank you all for being there.
Sherry
