Hi,
Please help? Newly installed Finale 2009, upgrade from 2006d.
Playback stutters badly no matter whether Smartmusic Softsynth,
QuickTime, or Garriton. I'm on PowerMac G5 1.8 GHZ, 1 G RAM, OS
10.4.3. All of my other MIDI and audio apps work fine, including
Finale 2006. Is Finale
Depending on the cause of the prob ... this is the kind of news that
really makes me hesitant about upgrading from Fin07.

It's always when you're working on a project, isn't it! Since F06 is
still working for you, I'd got back to that to finish the project, if
you think that's possible.
I'm hoping that someone using F09 can make suggestions, but while you
wait, take a look at instructions for Garritan. The

How so? Bonnie says the symptom exists with SmartSynth playback, too,
which doesn't involve Garritan at all.

Actually, I believe the new playback engine in Fin2009 uses Audio
Units for everything -- SmartSynth playback as well as Garritan sounds

I also note, that the minimum requirement for Tiger (OS 10.4) is 256
MB and F09 is 512 MB (with Garritan requiring at least 1GB) so the
computer only has about 230 MB of ram to play with (if my memory is
correct that she said it has 1 GB). I'd still try to find some way to
use play back
I understand about the memory issue, but it's an older computer and
probably not worth upgrading memory just for Finale. And I find it
discouraging if this is the case w/Finale, that they've added so many
bells and whistles they've made it too kludgy to use. I run mega-
