Hi, I’m afraid I won’t be much help to you. I really don’t do any web development anymore. I think the last time was 2013 (maybe). I build pure applications that run on PC/MAC/IOS/ANDROID. They are only use net connections to pull data, but minimally. My games are self-contained, tracking and all. The marketing, training and/or presentational pieces are installed corporate side, so I really don’t have a solution or even a suggestion for you. So very sorry, I’m not more help. I just came across www.krupa.com and their forums are current, so you might try there. Hi Karl, Thank you for your links, but unfortunately, I saw all of these and they are dated 2009, 2010 and/or 2012 and use the API v1. That API was retired in May of 2013. I found this from the Twitter Developers pages: "We've chosen to throw our support behind the JSON format shared across the platform. Consequently, we’ve decided to discontinue support for XML, Atom, and RSS.” And all the examples I’m finding are older and whether its direct calls from Flash or PHP, if they are calling to .rss or .xml and through the API v1, the pages don’t exist or links are broken, etc. Very frustrating and that’s just Twitter Having less luck with Pinterest and Instagram. Re: [Flashcoders] Flash to HTML
Howdy, I know that and I’m sure most developers do too, but I promised the client I would do my best to look into it, before I give him the inevitable bad news. The assets are the problem as much as the extensive coding. This is a real-time simulation of living on your own for a year (52 weeks on a per week bases). Just a ton of stuff going on and being tracked. Our clients TOO often hear create once and deploy everywhere. We are already ahead of the game delivering about a dozen apps/games on the three platforms. But I don’t see a way to do it on the fourth and then your forced to maintain two codebases of each game. Webkit is dragging its feet, is exactly why Google pulled away from Webkit and has gone over to their render engine Blink. Apple is not interested in pushing HTML5 acceptance in webkit, just like they didn't want Flash around either. They want you buying apps through the App/iTunes store and paying them for their use. Re: [Flashcoders] Adobe Flash future
Sorry, but when someone says that HTML5 is replacing what can be done in Flash, I can't take them seriously. Flash made what you built look and act the same in all browsers. HTML5 is going the same path as every previous version. Features working some the same, some differently, some not at all from browser to browser. Apple is dragging its feet on supporting HTML5 standards, so people keep buying apps through their stores. That's why they didn't want Flash around. You could get tons for free, cool stuff on the INTERNET. Google has pulled away from webkit in support of their render engine Blink, because they are fed up with Apple. This is only going to divide our playback world even more. So much for standardization. HTML5 is more of a problem than a solution. But again, since I don't develop for the web much, I'll just keep giving my clients what they want now and wait to see what shakes out. :) John R. Howdy, Well I'm curious if anyone can help me with this one. I've built for a client a presentation tool. It consists of 45 slides (jpegs) and some of them get customized with dynamic text fields and imported logos. They build presentations, selecting the slides they want, the order of display and the text/logos to be added and then show that to their clients. (I know, they had be build PowerPoint) :). Well now they want to take those custom presentations and print them out to a PDF to give to their client. They are on PC laptops. I've looked into purePDF and AlivePDF, but these solutions seem to be web solutions. This app is an AIR app, installed locally on each individual laptop as a stand-alone app with no NET connection. I suggested that they install a PDF driver on the laptop and I'd build the print function in the app to let them print to that selected PDF printer driver. They don't like that suggestion. Re: [Flashcoders] Exhibition type kiosks
The touchscreens I've done recently have to on 50" screens, mostly in a vertical orientation. It's ironic that gestures and touch/swipe was brought to us by Apple and all the screens have PC drivers only. :) Go figure. The hardware is dependent on what your program will be doing. I've had some that ran on anything desktop and a couple that a separate running animated video background for each of seven sections, plus 20 selectable videos and a 125meg attract video, along with all the content and graphics for the seven sections and we brought just about every PC to its knees. Ended up with a very high box, with a beefy graphics card. So really your hardware selection gets driven by what your going to build, system resource requirements, usage (kids :), a length service (time wise). If you want specific hardware spec's, I could ask a couple of my clients what they settled on. Later, John R. Okay. I'll gladly show my ignorance. How did you make at 32-bit AND 64-bit projector? I've looked all through publish settings and google and Adobe. I find now reference. Re: [Flashcoders] AIR Screensaver?
If you only want PC, this will work. For the MAC is .saver. You also have to listen for any key strokes, key presses or mouse movement to exit your program. And don't forget that users have NO idea where to put a .scr file or the .saver files and on the MAC side the LIbrary folder is usually hidden to the average user. Best of luck, John R. Over the years I've used ScreenTime first for Director screensaver's and then Flash. It really works well. Installs it like an actual screensaver on PC or MAC. It does the job quite well. Well as an example, I'm building 50" touchscreen applications that I then can port over to iPad and Xoom with minimal changes. eLearning apps, software simulation and much more. But then again, I don't build websites for the most part, I build full blown applications. I have a strong need for more depth and control then I can get in HTML. Different strokes for different folks. I guess its ust the band wagon of Flash is dead I find annoying. Its far from that, just changing like everything does these days. My 2 cents, John John R. [Flashcoders] PDF files in Flash
Has anyone heard of or has done this before? I have a client that wants a Flash app and one of the requirements is to be able to pull PDF's into the interface. There are some 80 different PDFs and he use to have a app built in Director using the PDF Xtra from Integration. I loves the application and wants to make in Flash now, but can't find any info on the web about PDF's inside of Flash. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance, John John R. Test the .length of your field. if (your_input_txt.length == 0) { trace("It's empty"); } or set it: your_input_txt.text = ""; if (your_input_txt.text == "") { trace("It's empty"); } Which ever you prefer.
