OK, there it is, in the same directory as the svg file.

What is the status of the FOP logo? If we need it tweaked, I can help.

That would be great. The last word on the subject is here:
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=fop-devm=105593071722327w=2

Here is what I suggest:

1. Find the SVG document for #30, which won the contest. It looks like Oleg
doesn't have it. Would you please contact Scott Hofman directly (see the
above link for a link to him) to obtain a copy of it, create a Bugzilla
issue with it attached, and we'll get it into the repository.

2. We need to decide 1) whether additional tweaking is necessary, and 2) how
to decide what tweaking needs to be done, 3) get the tweaking actually done
(in addition to your offer, I think Scott made a similar offer), and
committed to the repository. I propose that we take the logo as is, and
revisit the issue in the future if we think its important. I don't think we
can afford to spend any more bandwidth on it now.

Here is my +1.

3. Research where the logo is needed. I can't think of any place other than
our website. For each place it is needed, we need to consider making a jpg
scaled properly. The existing jpg may be fine.

4. We'll need to get our Forrest web build to pick up the svg and/or the
jpg. Probably the most efficient way to proceed is for me to see if it can
be done easily.

5. When this is all done visible, we can remove the logocontest page.

Thanks for helping get this done. I think it is useful to get some of this
old stuff cleaned up, to clear the decks.

Makes sense. But then we have to have separate pages for submissions and
voting as there is no way to prevent voting on web poll page. Anyway those
votes are just public opinions and I'd reserve jury rights for us. And I
removed those moose (I had it just because poll require 2 options).

 Also, it would be good
to state that everyone should vote only once (honor system).

I belive this particular polling system block double voting using IP and
coookie, anyway lets add a appeal.

So:
- everyone can participate
- no reward except for pride
- winner image is donated to apache under ASL, but authorship is preserved
- final result should be in SVG (is it required/feasible?)
- reasonable size
- everyone can vote, but only fop team picks out the winner
- duration - one month
- where to put images:
o contestant's site
o our place
- please vote only once (honor system)
We have to place the rules somewhere and then if nobody objects we can start it.

If you need a place to put the images, I'll be happy to put them on my site.

Fine.

Set out some basic rules, provide somewhere to put the images and for others to
make comments.
The image could be any format but the final result should be SVG. There are some
basic sizes, logo image, powered by size, others?

Would that be a possibility? http://vote.sparklit.com/poll.spark/640946%22

sparklit.com rocks. So what about:
- everyone can participate
- no reward except for pride
- winner image is donated to apache under ASL, but authorship is preserved
- final result should be in SVG
- reasonable size
- everyone can vote, but only fop team picks out the winner
- duration - one month
- where to put images:
	o contestant's site
	o fop's site
- vote.sparklit.com (free, probably ad-ware)
- what else?

Why don't we announce a competition.

I've been thinking of writing to this list for a while to offer
'graphic' help to the project (My background is Art Design not CS) and
would love to take part :-)

Not bad. Something like this I meant. But (sorry for being critical,
it's art, not coding :): why it's sitting back to us.

No problem :-)
This was in no way meant to be a serious proposal for the logo.

I've also created one with a parrot sitting with it's front to us.
However, I found this one with it's impish look back over the shoulder much
nicer.

F and P are too simple.

Maybe. But IMHO the letters FOP should be easily readable and the whole
logo shouldn't be too overloaded with additional stuff.

 And I'm not sure about scalability - e.g. how it'll look 3cmX2cm?

A vector graphic (preferrably SVG) would of course be better. However, I
couldn't find a good-looking vectorized parrot clipart.

Bernd

Yes, but that still leaves quite a bit of room for font experimentation.

Should admit I spent a couple of hours trying to implement my ideas
