New formats for a TOC
Hi, I have a book with a number of chapters. I have created a TOC, and it looks OK. However, I have now added a new format, and I would like text with this format in the TOC. Is there any way I can add a format to the list of formats that should be in the TOC? In Word, you can afterwards add or delete any number of formats from the table of contents. Any idea would be appreciated. FM issue resolved, problem weith WebWorks
Hello All, Thanks to all who have responded to the query. It is sincerely appreciated. I could right align the numbered list in FM and they seem perfect in the PDFs. The problem is that the generated html output does not give the required result. The single digit in the WebWorks output still appears to be left aligned due to which the body text following the single and double-digit numbers have moved towards the right. I tried fixing this in the Basic Paragraph option in the Style Designer, but in vain. Am not familiar with the macros so do not know whether that needs to be modified. Any help? You can't align things with tabs in FM and have it translate to HTML -- HTML doesn't respect white space (which includes tabs), collapsing it all down to a single space. I'm no HTML guru, but I don't think there's any way to right-align the numbers in an HTML ordered list (li items in an ol). I think you'd have to convert from an ordered list to a table, or maybe do the numbers and following text as separate div tags with CSS positioning. Way too complex for such a trivial matter, if you ask me. We've all lived with left-aligned numbered lists in Web pages for a long time now. Your readers can live with it a bit longer. :-) Richard -- Richard G. Slightly OT: A happy announcement
Hi FrameFolks, As some of you might remember, a few weeks ago, I posted some messages to the list regarding my company's research into changing from Word to either ArborText or Structured FM. I received several excellent responses to my questions and created a 4-page spreadsheet comparing the two products. Using this information, and after several weeks of discussions with our parent company in Japan, we decided to use Sructured FrameMaker. Anyway, I wanted to write and say thank you to all those who took the time to write and provide information. You were most helpful and I really do appreciate your efforts. RE: Slightly OT: A happy announcement
Hi Richard, Believe it or not, we have talked about exactly what you suggested, but we don't know how long that will be until the next version of FM is released, and se need to get started. So we're getting 7.2 and will upgrade whenever the next version of FM comes out. I'm Beta testing it, incidentally, and I kinardley wait for it to be available for the rest of my team. Adobe did a good job with it. (But I'm on an NDA and I can't even say if it's called FM8 or not.) Kinardley? Oh, that's just a name I got from my car. It's a Rolls-Kinardley. Rolls down the one hill, kinardley get up the next. Happy Friday. :-) Diane = -Original Message- From: Combs, Richard [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Jul 13, 2007 1:12 PM To: Diane Gaskill [EMAIL PROTECTED], framers@lists.frameusers.com Subject: RE: Slightly OT: A happy announcement Diane Gaskill wrote: As some of you might remember, a few weeks ago, I posted some messages to the list regarding my company's research into changing from Word to either ArborText or Structured FM. Any way to key out of a selected table?
Hi About shortcuts to key out of a table The Alt t p shortcut does indeed come with the Toolbar Express plug-in from Shlomo Peretz at microtype.com. I was unsure whether this came with Rick Quatro's TableCleaner, but my TE user guide confirmed it's from Shlomo. Hurrah for these brilliant plug-ins. How can anyone live without them? :-) For those with the bare bones, I guess you'll have to use Esc t shift i (to get uppercase I). Works fine even with these plug-ins installed, so I guess that is a standard Frame shortcut. So the next question is: >>> How do you get back into the table? (Without having to do a Find of any kind, just a simple hop?) And one more tip: If you have FrameScript, get the script for navigating in tables with arrows from itl.de. No more tabbing. Just use the arrows to hop up, down, left, or right. Lovely. regards, Karen Mardahl, a happy user of TE and TC and the scripts from the talented script writers at itl.de!
