Years ago, I learned from this list about creating a paragraph style
fonts in a weird way because FrameMaker saw this font as a regular font.
Assigning it the italic attribute in FrameMaker put an extra slant on it.

I caught most of the FM8 eSeminar that Adobe gave online last week. I'm
pretty sure it said that documents could be saved back to FM7 format, but
that the new features in FM8-- such as unicode characters and XML comments--
would be lost.

Have beta-testers and others discovered the following behaviour of FM 8?
To insert a TAB character when in a table paragraph, i use ESC+TAB. In FM
8
this does not insert a TAB, but the character # (pound sign).
I see the behavior you describe in the FM8 trial version.

(8.0.2) patch appears to have fixed this bug-- sort of. It
fixes it for newly entered em dashes, but existing em dashes remain broken
until fixed manually. A find/change for /m to /m, Change All, causes them
to once again function correctly. I did not test on en dashes.

can affect how many characters are allowed in the filename, as well as
disallow certain characters in the filename because they are illegal
characters in the chosen OS.

created when the setting was, earlier, set to Windows, and Frame let the
file load in Windows, but would not let it save when the Macintosh
cross-platform file naming was set.

Check to see if XP Service Patch 3 was installed. If so, uninstall it.
It will prevent you from being able to save Frame files with referenced
graphics (in XP).
I use only referenced graphics and have no problems with them under XP SP3.
