OK, noob alert. What is the preferred way of creating text callouts so that
they are anchored to a figure, i.e., if the figure is moved down or up a few
lines, the callouts move with it?
I import a graphic by reference. I create text in a text frame selected from

Good point about enlarging the anchored frame around the graphic, in
order to make room for the callouts. Also, good point about turning ON
View > Borders, and View > Text Symbols; it's always a good idea to
see these useful "infrastructure tools" while working in documents,
and, they don

Assuming the text line is actually in the frame, click somewhere in the
frame and then right-click and Select All in Frame, or just do Ctrl-A --
that should also work if the insertion point is in the frame.
Then Graphics > Group.
