[Framers] (free) FrameMaker templates for different page sizes/orientations

2021-02-25 Thread Monique Semp
   Hi Framers,
I just happened to see mention in LinkedIn of this nifty template pack
for FrameMaker, for lots of pages sizes/orientations that are not
"standard", and thought this list might find it useful:
   [1]https://framemaker.dk/en/azul-all-page-sizes.
Although I'm not currently using FrameMaker, I'll certainly be
   downloading them for just-in-case.

Re: [Framers] Different page sizes in FM document

2019-04-01 Thread Crety, Christiane
Hi all,
Thanks a lot for your answers. I believe you’re right Richard. My problem is
that there doesn’t seem to be a separate setting for page size for master pages
– only for the entire document?
Kind regards,
Christiane

Hi Christiane

I believe that the best and easier way would be to create separated documents
for different pages (working on the master page formats of course). As, anyway
they will be numbered and included in a book project, the output would not be
affected (structured documents or pdf).

Re: [Framers] Different page sizes in FM document

2019-03-28 Thread Rick Quatro
Hi Christiane,

There is an undocumented way of doing it in FrameMaker 2019, but I am not
positive if it made it into the release version. The idea is to create your
document with a page size large enough to accommodate all the required page
sizes in the document. So, to put it in US sizes, if your document is mainly
8-1/2 x 11 inches but you have some "foldout" pages that are 17 x 11 inches,
then you create a 17 x 11 document. Your default master pages are set up so
that the 8-1/2 x 11 content area is to the left side of the page and the
extra 8-1/2 x 11 is on the right side of the page. Your foldout master pages
use the whole 17 x 11 area.

Your 8-1/2 x 11 master pages are "marked" with a hidden UserString property
that indicates that these pages should be cropped when the PDF is created.
So your PDF will have a mix of 8-1/2 x 11 and 17 x 11 pages.

When I tested this, I used ExtendScript to automate the "marking" of the
pages so that the user didn't have to worry about it. Again, I am not sure
if this feature made it into the release version, but I can give it a try
when I get a chance. If there is general interest in this, I can demonstrate
it in one of my "anti-webinars".

Re: [Framers] Different page sizes in FM document

2019-03-28 Thread Art Campbell
Doug's right on the basics.

If you want to have the chapter content flow and "stick" to the designated
page format, you need to also create a unique tag to invoke the page using
a Unstructured Master Page Map table on a reference page.

After it's set up (maybe 20 minutes), you need to execute the Apply Master
Pages command to refresh the pagination either manually, or as part of your
book building process.

You can optionally lock pagination and freeze the doc with ESC F l k.

different page sizes in book

2008-07-15 Thread Baruch Brodersen
Mollye,

I can be done on the template level.

Make all your master pages 17x11 and then put a postscript code textbox on each
master page you want trimmed to 8.5 x 11 at distill time. (You have to specify
the rectangle in points in the postscript text box.)

The code you want is:

[/CropBox [0 0 612 792 ]
/PAGE pdfmark

All master pages that have this postscript textbox will distill to 8.5 x 11.
Those that don't will be 17 x 11.

   Hi All,

I'm sure this has been asked and answered but I'm on a short lead...

   I have a book that is 99% 8.5 x 11. However, there are also a few
17 x 11 (drawing foldouts) that go in to the book at the end of
chapters. Right now, it appears that I have to choose one size when I
render (PDF settings) and insert the 17 x 11 pages manually.

My goal is to put all the files in one book and render the PDF?to
the?two page sizes without manual intervention. Is this possible? If
so, how?

Any help, as always, is greatly appreciated!

Re: different page sizes in book

2008-07-14 Thread Art Campbell
The easiest way to do this is to have the tab pages in separate files
and insert them into book in the appropriate places, not to try to
include them inside a letter-size file.
You can adjust the page and chapter numbering so that they are chapter
components by adjusting the Numbering properties of the files in the
book file. If the large pages fall in the middle of a chapter, you can
split the chapter into sub files with the tab page in the middle --
again, fixing the numbering at the book level.

Have you tried rendering the PDF's as individual files, then combining in
PDF? Not the direct solution you are looking for, but a bit less work than
your current path.

Subject: different page sizes in book

My goal is to put all the files in one book and render the PDF to
the two page sizes without manual intervention. Is this possible? If
so, how?

Any help, as always, is greatly appreciated!

RE: different page sizes in book

2008-07-14 Thread Owen, Clint
Mollye,

As others have suggested, we distill separate PDF files for each page size,
then put them together in Acrobat. It's a manual process, but causes fewer
problems than trying to do it automatically.

RE: different page sizes in book

2008-07-14 Thread Baruch Brodersen

Those that don't will be 17 x 11.

different page sizes in book

2008-07-14 Thread Art Campbell
The easiest way to do this is to have the tab pages in separate files
and insert them into book in the appropriate places, not to try to
include them inside a letter-size file.
You can adjust the page and chapter numbering so that they are chapter
components by adjusting the Numbering properties of the files in the
book file. If the large pages fall in the middle of a chapter, you can
split the chapter into sub files with the tab page in the middle --
again, fixing the numbering at the book level.

Have you tried rendering the PDF's as individual files, then combining in
PDF? Not the direct solution you are looking for, but a bit less work than
your current path.

different page sizes

2007-06-26 Thread Tamas Konczer
Hello all,
I have a book file. One of the files has 420*297 page size, the others
are in A4. When I print the book it ask me about the document size. If
I set A4 size, my big file cutted on the margin...bad.
If I print just the 420*297 size file to A4 paper it is OK.
If I set to 420*297 some of the files are OK but some of them are in
little size.

What is the solution for that issue? How I have to print a book like
this if would like to have correct size on all files.

I have FM 7.2 on Windows 2000 SP4
