Hi, I am having a lot of trouble uploading my films online. Theoretically,
everything is checked and right with youtube, but after 9 hours, each time it
says cannot upload. I've tried different methods. Is there some trick to this?
Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas.
I would generally think that even with long stuff, you'd want to keep the
quality up, but at the same time keep the file size as small as you
can...the file's bitrate being the main factor. For something really really
long, using a bitrate close to the minimum would be useful. But it depends

Also, use a format like quicktime .h264 -charles

I have found that Chrome is the most stable browser for large uploads.

Thank you. I am trying to upload for a start an approximately 90 minute piece
that is silent. For some reason the programme I'm using seemed to include
sound. I am uploading at HD quality, and after 9 or so hours each time, and
after trying various other things, it fails to upload. I was able to

Have you by any chance tried uploading to archive.org?

I've found Vimeo much easier to work with.

Vimeo keeps telling me I have no space, and when I do, it's not enough, then it
resets. I think I flushed $200.00 down the toilet.
I'm not sure if I sent my other response to "reply all", so here it is, and
sorry if it is a repeat:
Thank you. I am trying to upload for a start an approximately 9
Are you uploading 720p? Encoded maybe at 5000kbs. If that isn't working,
maybe consider just an SD version at 2500kbs or so.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share an attempt at collated mixed media in a

It would help if you explained your workflow for the files you're trying to
upload to YT: what codec you're using in what program with what settings.

It definitely can be done. I've done it at 1080.
Some ideas:
Re-export it from your editing program and double check settings, or use
Compressor, or even QuickTime can save videos in different formats. Or
Final Cut X and maybe other programs can upload directly to YouTube.
Make sure the video
Hi Rick,
No. I know last we spoke (quite a while ago) you said a place for experimental
work was in the works. I'll check it out and if you can give an url, that would
be great. Thanks.

Yeah, um, I have no idea. All I know is it was working, and now it's not.

I'm using cyber direct power director, a pretty basic software. You can upload
directly online, which I have had no problem doing until now, with the longer
work. My internet connection is very fast, and I don't use wifi. My tech
abilities are not much far more advanced than on/off.

Alas, in today's mediascape 'on/off' doesn't cut it. If you want
Thank you David, Charles and Rick. It is going to take some time to digest this
all. I will use "very slow", as I am very anal retentive about image quality. I
also did upload the film/video to www.archive.org a few hours ago, and cannot
open it. Par for the course.
Oh, and thank you Chris as well.
Power Director takes around 9 hours to render it, so I assumed that was
compressing it. That is longer than when I used my 2003 Mac from what I recall.
