I am a newbie to freebsd, I need to remove one cpu from my freebsd
(5.2.1-release version) server.
Do I need to recompile my kernel? If yes, any hints?
Or I can just shutdown, remove the cpu and reboot the machine ?

I've seen somewhere an easy way to check whether a program with a
specified pid is running or not. I've made a crontab script to check my
programs based on this. The script is the following:
