[Freeciv-Dev] Follow tags (was: [patch #3462] Separate metaserver version tag for Windows installer builds)
Marko Lindqvist writes: I have added branch specific S2_4 and S2_5 tags to metaserver side, but I don't plan to using them in any builds we do - they are just an option for those people who make their own builds and want to follow specific branch (so that if 2.5.0 is released before 2.4.3, 2.4.2 user will get notification about 2.4.3) Perhaps the 2.4 *betas* should use the S2_4 follow tag? -- that way they get informed of new betas / RCs / stable releases. RCs and stable 2.4 releases would revert back to the stable tag. ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev
[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #20005] Compile time decided database.lua location Windows installations
Update of bug #20005 (project freeciv): Status:None = Ready For Test ___ Follow-up Comment #7: I think we should commit this patch for 2.4.0-beta1 (i.e. now). Christian's tested it and it makes things better on Windows. Windows builds are only really built under controlled conditions anyway (i.e. basically only by Christian and Marko). Looking at the patch, it has little scope to break other builds, as once the top-level Makefile is generated there should be no change. I've tested it on Unix (going as far as making a mock release tarball and building/installing from that), successfully. Patch doesn't apply cleanly to S2_4 but the conflicts are trivial. Attached the git auto-merged version for S2_4. If no-one else commits it first, I will commit this before building beta1. Follow-up Comment #12, task #7599 (project freeciv): I do think we should commit this installer patch for beta1 (and bug #20005, as I've said there). Out-of-the-box authentication on Windows is one of the headline features in 2.4, and the patch can only break Windows installer builds, of which we don't have a big history of testing to overturn, and it has been tested. If no-one else gets there soon (hours), I'll commit file #16290 (blindly) before building the tarball. ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/task/?7599 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

I can't see code that would read any of the rest, absent a terrain type called river. Does anyone remember why the others are there? Are they some ancient backward compatibility thing that can now go? Or is there some modpack out there that treats river as a terrain type, or something? Can anyone remember the history? Given the lack of documentation, it would make tileset authors' life easier if extraneous fluff could be omitted from the examples we provide. ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?20054 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

URL: http://gna.org/patch/?3499 Summary: Temporarily change S2_4's followtag to 'S2_4' for betas Project: Freeciv Submitted by: jtn Submitted on: Sat Aug 11 20:35:11 2012 Category: None Priority: 9 - Immediate Status: In Progress Privacy: Public Assigned to: jtn Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Planned Release: 2.4.0-beta1 ___ Details: As I suggested earlier on freeciv-dev http://mail.gna.org/public/freeciv-dev/2012-08/msg00325.html, I think the 2.4 beta source releases should have a followtag of S2_4 rather than stable. Reason is that that means beta users will hear if a new beta / RC / stable release of 2.4.x is out during the (expected lengthy) beta testing period. Otherwise they see nothing from the metaserver until 2.4.0 goes gold. When we get to release candidates I think we should change back to stable, probably. That does mean RC1 user doesn't find out about RC2, but since it's a release candidate it should probably be representative of release. Anyone still using 2.4.0-betaX when 2.5.0 comes out will not hear of 2.5.0. But hopefully no-one will still be using 2.4.x betas then, as 2.4.x stable will certainly have been out for some time. I want to make beta1 tonight, for which I need to commit this patch now. Unfortunately that's much less than the usual consultation period. Follow-up Comment #1, bug #20055 (project freeciv): The change that has triggered this is in how representative icon of road type (which was one of the special types in earlier versions) for editor menu is constructed. Earlier versions iterated over sprites until they found legal one. 2.5 iterates over them all, and add all legal ones. This iteration goes far over legal bounds (legal: 2^(dirs / 2), used: 2^dirs). The bug is in principle in old code too, it would go over legal bounds if no legal sprite is found, causing iteration to abort, before. ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?20055 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

[Freeciv-Dev] Freeciv 2.4.0 first beta source code released
The first beta of Freeciv 2.4.0 is now available for download. New features include citizen nationality, saving map images for action replays, and easier authentication for servers. See more details at http://www.freeciv.org/wiki/NEWS-2.4.0. Source code is available from http://www.freeciv.org/wiki/Download#Beta_2.4. (Windows packages should follow shortly.) In other news, the metaserver (meta.freeciv.org) was moved to new hosting recently. If you operate a server that advertises on the metaserver, please do /metaconnection down then /metaconnection up to reconnect, otherwise clients will not be able to see you. [Freeciv-Dev] [bug #20056] Spurious msgid ?vertag:
URL: http://gna.org/bugs/?20056 Summary: Spurious msgid ?vertag: Project: Freeciv Submitted by: jtn Submitted on: Sun Aug 12 01:43:22 2012 Category: None Severity: 2 - Minor Priority: 5 - Normal Status: In Progress Assigned to: jtn Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Release: 2.4.0-beta1 Discussion Lock: Any Operating System: Any Planned Release: 2.4.0,2.5.0 ___ Details: As pointed out on -i18n, the current followtag translation arrangements (patch #3475) cause freeciv.pot to have a spurious extra msgid ?vertag: that's never used. Attached patch fixes this, and also adds a log_verbose() message on the client about the version information from the metaserver. ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?20056 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #19846] Closing unit select dialog asserts
Follow-up Comment #3, bug #19846 (project freeciv): Well, right now I've got the client nearly in pieces (mostly due to gridding - nearly done now, just restoring the spacing and minor tweaks left), but it seems my first comment was on the spot - due to the order of signals being undefined, instead of fc_assert_ret(pdialog); it should just be if (!pdialog) return; Though I might have broken something else (unrelated to the above fix), as Select/Deselect seems to cease to work altogether. ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?19846 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev
