[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #21058] Indonesian localisation not offered in Windows installer

___

Details:

The Indonesian language is not offered in the Windows installer, neither as a
language pack to install nor as a default language.

I think this is because it's referred to in bootstrap/langnames.txt as 'in',
which is incorrect; should be 'id'. Looking at the installer generation
script, I think simply correcting langnames.txt should be sufficient.

Operating System: Microsoft Windows
 Planned Release:

___

Details:

Freeciv's built-in language, en_US, is not included as an option in the
Choose Default Language stage of the Windows installer.

(This came to light via a forum user
http://forum.freeciv.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=8t=120 who wants English Freeciv
on French Windows; they can use en_GB, but it would be good to offer en_US,
since it's there; I've tested it manually and it works.)

I can't fix this by just adding it to bootstrap/langnames.txt, because
win32/installer/create-freeciv-gtk2-nsi.sh checks for the existence of the
appropriate messages.mo before adding it, so of course it won't find one for
en_US.

It could easily be minimally hardcoded in the list the same way 'auto' is,
though.

(Cosmetically it might be nice if the previous Choose Components step
included a greyed-out US English entry, to indicate to users what the
built-in language is.)

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #21060] Cosmetic issues in Windows installer language selection

2013-08-24 Thread Jacob Nevins
URL:
  http://gna.org/bugs/?21060

Summary: Cosmetic issues in Windows installer language
selection
 Project: Freeciv
Submitted by: jtn
Submitted on: Sat Aug 24 14:53:59 2013
Category: general
Severity: 2 - Minor
Priority: 5 - Normal

 Open/Closed: Open
 Release: 2.4.0-RC1
 Discussion Lock: Any
Operating System: None
 Planned Release:

___

Details:

1.
The description of the nb language code (Norwegian Bokmål) is mangled on
display, at least on my (Windows 7 British English) system. See screenshot. It
looks to me like UTF-8 interpreted as ISO 8859-1 or Win1252.

bootstrap/langnames.txt (from which this string comes) is encoded in UTF-8.
I'm guessing that encoding will pass straight through
create-freeciv-gtk2-nsi.sh to the NSIS script, and what happens then will
depend on NSIS' character set handling.

Is there some way to tell NSIS that the script it's been given is UTF-8
encoded, and if so will everything from then on Just Work?

Failing that, we could take the pragmatic step of changing the encoding of
langnames.txt in svn to ISO 8859-1.

2.
While the Choose Components screen has friendly language names, the Choose
Default Language step just has language codes. It would be nice if it
displayed language names. (This is a left-over from patch #3463.)

This doesn't look completely trivial, as it looks like the display name and
output name are currently tied. I'm sure it's possible to change the NSIS
script to separate them, but I haven't looked into it as I wouldn't be set up
to test any changes.

Update of bug #21049 (project freeciv):

 Release: 2.4.0 RC1 = 2.4.0-RC1

___

Follow-up Comment #1:

This bug report needs more detail.

There is no messages from past turns
The only time the Messages tab will contain messages from past turns is
immediately after connecting to a game in progress, or after loading a
savegame; and whether you actually get any past messages depends on the event
cache settings on the server.

Given these restrictions, are you not seeing past messages in circumstances
where you would expect to?

and quite frequently no messages display from turns
Some turns (especially at the start of the game) there will be no messages at
all to display in the Messages tab, so emptiness is expected.

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #21056] Avoid focusing native units when transported and surrounded by nonnative terrain

2013-08-24 Thread Jacob Nevins
Update of bug #21056 (project freeciv):

Severity: 3 - Normal = 1 - Wish
Summary: Loaded Land Units appear on turns where they are
surrounded by water tiles. = Avoid focusing native units when transported and
surrounded by nonnative terrain

___

Follow-up Comment #1:

Normally, transported units are put into 'sentry' mode at they time they are
loaded onto a transport, which should mean most people don't run into this.

Bypassing focus won't always be the right thing to do for such units, as
moving is not the only action. For instance, Engineers on boats can work on
transforming ocean to swamp (admittedly not in the middle of the ocean in the
default ruleset). Units could convert to other types, etc.

2013-08-24 Thread Marko Lindqvist

This doesn't look completely trivial, as it looks like the

possible to change the NSIS script to separate them, but I
haven't looked into it as I wouldn't be set up to test any

When I looked it, it seemed that one cannot have distinct displayed text and
selected value there, but I'm certainly not expert of nsis control language.
So it would be something like en_GB - British English both dislayed in
selection dialog and got as value when use selects it - somewhere it would
need to be parsed to en_GB only.

Having more than one border source on same tile does not work as claimer is
known by the tile it's on. Now that ruleset can allow bases to exist in city
center tile, we still would need to disallow border claiming bases there, a
bit like two border claiming bases automatically conflict with each other.
