Dear sir
Do anyone make a casing that looks like an oversized iMac G4, yet
accept Powermac G5 logic board, the one that have the LCD that pivot,
but the base is larger to accept the lobo from a G5 tower, but it's
still round, or at least round-cornered.?
thank you

Recently acquired a Sonnet 800 MHz ZIF upgrade for a G3 BW.
I need some install/user guide type info. Searching Google and the
Sonnet support was not helpful.
Does anyone have a link to a user guide or could someone sent a .pdf
-- provided Sonnet ever provided one.
I do have a white jumper

Use Console.app.
And click the More Logs button. Click the reveal arrows until you get
to /var/logs, you can see previous System logs there.
This is a lovely 700Mhz G3 (the last G3 made) that has no trouble

Alas it has started to fail, and in ways that defy ready diagnosis.
I'm hoping someone here can help.

Im not completely sure,
But could it be a harddrive problem?

If on a G4 Mac, and possibly also a G5 Mac, all you really need is an
OWC or LaCie SATA card, which is very cheap.

The Apple G4 enabler is installed, so do I also need the Sonnet
firmware as well?
I easily installed a similar ZIF upgrade on my BW.
You MUST install the Sonnet software before installing your ZIF
regardless of which OS is installed in your system. The
Crescendo/Encore/ZIF
I did an Archive and Install, but I didn't have much foresight. Once I
saw that the OS itself was working properly, I ditched the old OS to
save disk space (it's only a 30 GB hard drive).
Thank you, though, for ideas much smarter than I am.

OWC Computing has some good info online about ZIF upgrading in their
support stuff.
I found a rather generic pdf: encore_zif_trimanual.pdf
which is 120 pp in three languages and cover a variety of Mac's.

Waay back in the day, I used filemaker for donor records and such
at the small nonprofit where I worked. You created the fields,
arranged them in a data entry form and then created forms for address
lists, thank you notes, tax deductible receipts, so on and so forth.
Very simple.

Would memory pulled from a G4 Quicksilver work in a Gigabit Ethernet

systems, but I don't know if the G4 Gigabit is sensitive to the speed
difference.

I think it would. Try it and see. That is my method. If I find some extra
ram I put it in and see if it works.
