probably a long-shot, but here goes . . . my 60-something brother-in-law just switched from windows PC user to his first Mac, a QS933 running 10.5.6, and i'm asking if there is anyone in the springfield, OH area (drexel st) who would be willing to go over and spend an hour or so (i guess?) showing

Try plugging it in and using the power button on the motherboard itself. If that doesn't help then I would recommend changing the power supply. But if the power cord is fried like that, then it may have a bad motherboard that could have been burned in the process as well. If you have a power supply

Time Machine troubles
