Hi tom.

Those sound pretty usefull actually especialy for making data more portable
than with a powered drive.

I might considder getting one myself, though sinse my laptop battery isn't
in the best condition I'd once again just use it for backups and
transporting stuff.

Hi dark,

Backing up frequently is definitely the best way to secure your data.
The more backups you have the greater the chances your data will
survive a catastrophic PC failure, virus, or whatever. As my high
school computer teacher use to say over and over again save early and
save often. Well, the key today is back up early and back up often.

Of course, the ultimate in security is frequent backups, which is why i

Hi tom.

That is true, but unfortunately mostt people don't take the advice. when I
bought my desktop in 2008, after my previous machine's hard drive basically
failed, the nice local place I got it from said apparently I was the first
person they've ever encountered who, after a computer crash just wanted to
buy a new machine and wasn't asking them to try recover lots of stuff from a
broken old one.

People don't seem to remember unfortunately, though having lived in the
days of floppy disks where a fall from a desk could do in your data, I
learnt the importance of backups very much! :D.

Hi Jim,

Well, if I'm editing sounds and music I usually put the sounds in
c:\Users\Thomas\Edit
which is in my local home directory. As I said before all I have to do
is open theStart Menu, arrow to Edit, and there is all of my sound

want, press the Context Menu key, and arrow to open with Goldwave. So
its not like the files are a billion layers deep, and since I open the
files directly from Explorer I don't have to open Goldwave, press
control+o, and type the full path into the open dialog. Besides even
if I did use the open dialog Goldwave remembers which directory was
open last so it defaults to
c:\Users\Thomas\Edit
anyway. So all I need do is type the file name and Goldwave will open
it from the default location.

Of course, I could edit the files from the flash drive directly. As I
mentioned in a prior message I use flash drives for a lot of day to
day work, so for me I could do
e:\Edit\File.wav

Hi william.

I've not heard of any specific podcasts on soundocue, but if you get the Bg
sudocue game from spoonbill games, it has a very extensive set of
instructions with all the rules of sudocue, which would apply as equally to
any sudocue game soundocue included.

To get it send a request to ga...@spoonbillsoftware.com.au

I'd actually recommend a lot of Ian humphries games, indeed I was very
impressed with his recent Bg battleship release sinse I didn't think anyone
could add more to that game but the amount of rules, variations and
customizations he's got is great, ditto with his mastermind game, and
sudocue (though I confess sudocue isn't as much my thing as I'm not really
good at grid style games).

This way all I have to do is go to any folder and arrow to the file then hit

To do this you need to use the open with selection in the context menu then

Well, I chose to start with just the pistol and axe instead of being

makes me a lot more judicious in that situation lol. With a silencer

drop accordingly.

Hi Dark,

Yeah, they are. The only problem I have found with the Passport
drives, though, is the USB chord is proprietary to the units. When
they go bad, which happened to me not long ago, you have to pay for a
replacement chord which naturally costs more than a generic USB chord.
That sort of bites.

I am going to have issue keeping all my weapons filled which is why I
mostly hang round with the pistol.
To be honest the only reason its worked for me is that zombies in
huge swarms have started showing up on the map near the safezone.
my patroll is north west and south till map edge and east towards the
 river.
building nav is still a pain though I tried a quest hoping I could
pull it off issue is once I am in kai mart or automart I tend to get
lost easily and then can't get out again.
The fact there is an abondance of zombies on map1 over where I run
round means I can get the rep to buy extra extras.
Its vary likely that my rep will drop to the point where those extras
will just go again who knows.
I have my mp5 fulled and suppressed.
I have a skoped hunting rifle that although it has no amo has potential.
I can find a shotgun but don't see much advantage in a brouning myself.
chainsaws, well not really usefull for me.
I'd like to get either the sniper or the r15 rifle with burst though
I know its real loud its range is good though.

Re: [Audyssey] Games through the iPhone web browser.

2012-10-23 Thread Ibrahim Gucukoglu

Hi Michael.

My understanding is that the IPhone and indeed any IOS device will never be
able to support Flash, this is the decree of Apple and I doubt they'll let a
third party developer put a browser that comes with flash in their app
store. You'll either have to go over to Android to do this or jailbreak
your device, doubtless someone on here will know more about these options as
I don't use either Android or a jail broken IPhone.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone might could tell me which web browser

The reason for this question is I would like to play some online games
that require those formats.
Thanks for the help in advance!

As for the issue with the Context Menu key it sounds to me like
Goldwave isn't associated with sound files in your system registry.
That's an easy thing to fix. You can either press the Context Menu key
on a sound file and go to properties to change the default media
player or editor, or you can go to folder options under the tools
menu, and add an file assocation for Goldwave to your known file
types. Once you do that Goldwave will appear in your Context Menu as
an option.

Cheers!

yep, when you open it that is what comes up in goldwave. you have to
tab to the folder list and get your file. That is normal for
goldwave. The second part is also right goldwave is not a Microsoft
program. So it will not be listed by context key, but also may not be
listed in the open with option. you may have to browser for it also
in its list of programs, for your computer.

Hi Ben,

I don't know, it doesn't work like that here.

Control O in Gold Wave says open sound, file name, zero items.

And as I said the context key and arrowing does not ever come up

Explorer, Note Pad, Paint, Windows picture and fax viewer and Word
Pad, that's it.

Hi Jim,

Well, if I'm editing sounds and music I usually put the sounds in
c:\Users\Thomas\Edit which is in my local home directory. As I said before
all I have to do is open theStart Menu, arrow to Edit, and there is all of
my sound files. To open One in Goldwave all I have to do is find the file I
want, press the Context Menu key, and arrow to open with Goldwave. So its
not like the files are a billion layers deep, and since I open the files
directly from Explorer I don't have to open Goldwave, press
control+o, and type the full path into the open dialog. Besides even
if I did use the open dialog Goldwave remembers which directory was open
last so it defaults to c:\Users\Thomas\Edit anyway. So all I need do is type
the file name and Goldwave will open it from the default location.

Of course, I could edit the files from the flash drive directly. As I
mentioned in a prior message I use flash drives for a lot of day to day
work, so for me I could do e:\Edit\File.wav and open the file from the flash
drive rather than storing it on my c:
drive which is as easy as what you do now.

Cheers!

I make a simple folder such as c:\f That way when I need to open a

Not some folder several layers deep. I guess that I just don't
like to type so much more than I need to.

I have a flash drive well a couple drives I use when cleaning units.
4-8gb is all you need for needed software.
Ofcause if you need a backup, I make a folder on my external drive
seperate from everything else.

I back up the system.
Ofcause if this has viruses and such on it those go to that folder to.
Then I scan the folder.
on my system.
Then I transfer it back.
Then I kill the files.
I do encourage the backing up of important files by users before they
give me the system because I will have access to everything while its
on the backup drive.

Hi Trouble,

Agreed. Not running any antivirus software, antispyware software, etc
on a Windows computer is a very bad idea. I don't care how much a tech
someone thinks they are its essential to add security software on the
system to insure the safety of the OS. Even a free antivirus program
like Microsoft's Security Essentials is better than none, and there
are better antivirus programs far better than that which are fairly
affordable on a fixed income.

Cheers!

I was just setting idle when it hit. If you are running any PC
with windows software. You better be running some type of anti virus
regardless of how macho of a tech you think you are. The only true
safe windows computer are never connected to the Internet at all, and
 I do mean never.

Re: [Audyssey] Adrift games

2012-10-23 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, once you download the game runner from the web site given already
you just install the program. Then you open the game runner and choose
to open an adventure. You will have to review the screen with the mouse
pointer, but that will work just nicely when using Window-Eyes. I do
this all the time with Window-Eyes and Adrift. Just be sure to open the
game you want to play from the runner, not the generator since that will
assume you want to edit the game or create a new one.
