If I may make an observation, I think that the card battle is the best

First with the boat ride, you nd to hit the arrows slowly, actually if

There's no way to set gender either of yourself or enemies at the moment,

Maybe today isn't my lucky day. I used the link from your message, but
still when I go to run the game it first asks to select the language.
I've not yet found the way to tell it I want English. Tried using the

but no thoughts what else to attempt.

Hello,
I didn't look through my inbox to the end to see if anyone has proposed a
solution as of yet. So sorry if I repeat something that was just said here,
but here is the solution if you use Jaws.
On the webpage they say that the game sometimes doesn't work well with Jaws.
So that gave me an idea immediately when my errows didn't work at the
starting screen with the language selection. So I pressed insert and number
3 on the number pad, which is the command called "enter key to pass
through", which, as it says, lets you use a key which would normally
interfear with Jaws. So after pressing insert and 3, I just arrowed down and

Re: [Audyssey] New game, crazy party and card battle

2016-05-30 Thread Phil Vlasak

Michael,
Both the French and English versions are inside the zip and are in,
Crazy Party beta37.exe.
To get the English version you need to run the game file and use your arrow
keys to change from

français.
I hit up arrow to get English, then hit enter.

The game does not work well with JAWS.
So I turned off JAWS just before running the EXE file.
It then defaulted to my SAPI voice.

Re: [Audyssey] New game, crazy party and card battle

2016-05-30 Thread Devin Prater
One of the coolest things, to me, is that it works within Wine, an app for
running Windows programs on non-windows systems. There is no SAPI, and running
NVDA, the setup anyways, failed—I’ll just have to make a portable copy and try
with that I guess—but if they were to include eSpeak, it’d work fine. It kept
all my save data from the XP VM and everything.

Re: [Audyssey] New game, crazy party and card battle

2016-05-30 Thread dark

Hi Phil.

Alt F4 is how I've been exiting, escape returns you through menus but
doesn't exit the program when used in the main menu.

Chase the duck is but the tip of a very, very veery! large iceberg, I
believe there are about 120 different minigames split into different zones,
also available in the board game and online, as well as the battle mode
which is virtually a game in itself.

To say this is a beta there is a staggering amount in the game, and though
there are a few rough spots (noteably lack of ways to obtain gems to earn
unlockables), I can't wait to see where this goes.

all the best,

Dark.

Phil,

My guess is that one of the .dat files is something like an sqlLite
database, so would guess if you unzip a fresh copy, and then try the SAPI
trick, it might again prompt you for language choice.

On my side, since NVDA is my current primary, had no issues.

You could also try firing up the fresh copy with NVDA running the first
time?

there doesn't seem to be a screen reader switch in the game which is a bit

Believe me, the game is more than worth it, indeed it's probably the most

Re: [Audyssey] New game, crazy party and card battle

Dark,
I should have read this part in the instructions:
About the screen readers
The game was tested with NVDA, but it should work properly with Jaws. It
should also work with System Access, Window Eyes, and maybe even a SAPI
voice.
The JAWS screen reader is known to interfere with the arrow keys. To
overcome this problem, Crazy Party intercepts the keys when this screen
reader is detected.
Sometimes, however, this does not work well, and if you have trouble, it is
recommended to test it with NVDA.

or tab key changed it to English. Unfortunately I couldn't duplicate this
every time, so sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, so does mean a
bit of playing around. when it did land on English though I got a ball

Hey all

Okie I've downloaded This and tried to run it a few times. What is
the secret for getting it to speak English? If my French were more
fluent I'd not bother asking but regretably :)

Thanks

Re: [Audyssey] New game, crazy party and card battle

2016-05-29 Thread dark

hi Phil.

You should be able to just press up and down arrow to change the eefault
language from french to English.
Try disabling jaws in case it's that kkeyboard thing and the menu should
read with sapi, or at least it did with me.

All the best,

Ron,
I ran the game and there was a choose language menu at the start but the
default was French.
I tried tabbing or arrowing but it did not change and all of a sudden the
menu vanished and my computer locked up.

Re: [Audyssey] New game, crazy party and card battle

2016-05-29 Thread dark

Hi.
Okay I've checked, both language versions are the same file, crazy party
beta 37.
When you first run the program, a dialogue should appear asking what
language you want, english or franceise, for me this just read with Sapi, I
hit the arrows to select English, pressed enter and there it was no trouble.

I wonder if this is one of those random jaws keyboard grabbing things?

Seems like, as part of the download link, it is indicated that this is a
beta. Could that be the reason?

Hmmm, most odd.

If you go to http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=18915=2 someone
else appears to be having the same problem so try checking the responses
they get, I had no issues, I don't know if there is an update or something.

Hi Dark and others

Maybe today isn't my lucky day. I used the link from your message, but
still when I go to run the game it first asks to select the language. I've
not yet found the way to tell it I want English. Tried using the arrow
keys, tab, and simply hitting E but to no avail. I'll keep at it but no
thoughts what else to attempt.

Thanks much

Ron

the hole game is called crazy party.

Part of the game, (the crazy party bit), is a mario party style set of
minigames. These are small arcade games combined with a board game. Play
in the single player adventure mode to go through different zones and try
minigames, then play the boards where you earn coins.
Unlock enough minigames and you can play competitions online against
other people, both minigames competitions and play on boards.

Then, there is the card battle part.
this is an rpg strategic battle card game with rules similar to pokemon
but using a pack of crads.

Fight your way through several gyms for each card type and earn cards by
efeating all the enemies in the gym to improve your dec and stratogy.

Warning, this one takes some playing and experience, though it can also
be played online against other people when you've got far enough and
beaten enough gyms.

I confess I'm totally addicted to this one, so feel free to come and give
it a try.

[Audyssey] New game sounds, help

2014-09-28 Thread Lucky
Hi guys

Can anyone help me related this issue?
I need some game sounds and effects for my game: sounds of weapons but not guns
pistols etc then swards, daggers and such kind of thing, then sounds of nature
animals, streams, rivers, water falls, wind, rain etc.
Actually it would be a long list If I'd write everything what I need here so,
does anyone know about any web sites where I could find those things?
I researched the internet a bit but wasn't so satisfied with the found.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Cheers.

[Audyssey] New game, traders of known space

2014-06-21 Thread dark
Hi.

Valiant galaxy associates (who we've had on this list previously), have just
bought out their first audio game. I actually would've expected Jeremy, one of
the Vga developers to announce it here, sinse he has been on list, but as he
obviously hadn't I'll cp the announcement about the new game with the links.

Valiant Galaxy Associates is proud to announce the release of our first free
game. While we were waiting to get all the bugs worked out of our first
commercial game, Interceptor (coming soon), we decided to devise a
simple trading game. That game is here and called Traders of Known
Space. The year is 3051 and the human federations of planets are at war
with aliens known as the grays, but even during a war, commerce
continues. You are commander of an independent merchant ship that must
make your way in these uncertain times. Buy goods cheap, sell goods at a
premium, upgrade your ship, gather information, fight space battles, and
avoid hazards. The game uses a map mode for navigating between
planets, and a menu mode for performing actions in the game. It can be
played with relatively few keyboarding skills. The game is completely self-
voicing and requires no special equipment or software to play. You can find
Traders of Known Space at
http://www.valiantGalaxy.com
 under
downloads. Documentation is available from inside the game as well as on
the web site under games, then Traders of Known Space, then click here
for documentation. Good luck, and we hope you enjoy the game. For
questions, complaints, hate mail, bug reports, personal invitations, etc,

Re: [Audyssey] New game, traders of known space

2014-06-21 Thread dark

I just knew when I mentioned this game someone would bring up smugglers :D.

Nope, this is miles different to smugglers, partly because it is a much
simpler game, but mostly because it's hole idea is different. IN smugglers
the trading works by knowing all the prices of a system or indeed multiple
systems and flying around. In Traders of Known space trading works by
physically going to different planets to find their prices, occasionally
with information.

In smugglers you could fly around with no penalty, in TRaders of known space
you need fuel. In smugglers you had 25 star systems (or 31 in s5 invasion),
with roughly 150 planets to fly to, in traders your playing on a 10 x 10
grid, mapping out each move carefully.

Combat is also miles different. Really, while both games are space trading
games, they don't have much in common, which is of course a good thing,
sinse much as I think smugglers is an awsome game it's always nice to try
out something else.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

simple trading game. That game is here and called Traders of Known

continues. You are commander of an independent merchant ship that must

avoid hazards. The game uses a map mode for navigating between

Re: [Audyssey] New Game Controller for Pc

2013-12-11 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Shaun:

Well, yes and no. If you are talking about PC games produced by big
name studios you are right. There is a lot less of those these days
because all the major big name studios are almost exclusively
developing for XBox, Play Station, or Wii;. However, there is a lot
more games for the PC than you might think.

First of all the method of buying and selling them has drastically
changed over the last decade. Back in the 90's if a company had a big
name game like Quake, Doom, Civilization, etc you went to your local
computer or gaming store and purchased it on CD. Now days, the
majority of game sales are done online through services like Steam.
You can now pay for the game online and download it straight to your
PC without having to go out and purchase it on physical media like CD
or DVD. This has drastically changed the way game developers do
business with PC gamers.

Since most PC gaming is either online based or is available through
the Internet there are hundreds if not thousands of amateur
independent game developers who are selling games online through Steam
and other services. Big name corporations simply have no desire to
compete with all the competition out there and focus on the major
gaming consoles and have left the PC gaming to small independent
studios. That is why in terms of PC gaming you won't find much in
retail stores like Walmart, Best Buy, K-Mart, etc but if you go online
you will find hundreds of new titles for the PC produced by
independent developers.

One thing I have noticed in modern PC games verses big name mainstream
titles for consoles is their surprising simplicity. What I mean by
that is if you look at where the big mainstream companies are heading
they are getting more and more complicated all the time, lack depth,
and overwhelmingly focus on pushing the graphics technology to its
fullest. The independent PC developers tend to be focused on small but
simple games like what we had in the 80's and 90's with better
graphics and sounds. In short, they are more interested in the actual
game play than obsessing over graphics, sounds, and so on.

To give you an example one game I heard of recently is called Jewels
or something like that. Basically, there are Jewels falling down out
of the sky and you have to quickly move around the game collecting
them, or so I have been told. This sounds like something straight out
of the Atari days, but obviously the graphics and sounds are way
better. Never-the-less the game is getting good reviews and HP and
other PC manufacturers are shipping demos of it on their laptops as
part of their trial software.

Another game that has gotten some attention of late is called 3D
Mahjong or something like that. Unlike classic Mahjong instead of
tiles you have square blocks and you have to spin the blocks around
and fit them together into a 3d puzzle. It is obviously more difficult
than classic Mahjong, but its simply a case of taking a very old idea
and making it better without overly complicating the game.

The point I am getting at here is that PC games do exist, there are
more than ever, but they aren't necessarily available through your
local store. If you want them you need to go online to Steam and other
places where they are sold. The days of buying a game for your PC on
CD or DVD is about gone. It is all downloadable media now, and the two
games I mentioned aren't very big to begin with. These days with high
speed Internet downloading a game that is 25 MB tops is not a big
deal. Even if you purchase and download a game 10 times that size it
is still not that much of a problem for most people so the Internet is
where all the PC games are now.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] New Game Controller for Pc

2013-12-11 Thread dark

Hi Tom.

I certainly agree with you that Pc games, like games for tablets and phones
have largely gone online these days, however it is not true either that
major coorporations are keeping their hands off the Pc, or that the vast
majority of games are smaller, atari style ones. While there are! plenty of
action and arcade titles around, especially on tablets and phones where they
serve as a quick game for people on the go, equally there are major
proportions of first person shooters, rpgs, detailed stratogy games etc.

Several of my friends who I do tabletop rp with are fans of games like red
alert, x com and other such stratogy titles, which are produced by some
major companies and sold through heavy online updates. Indeed in the world
of rpgs and mmorpgs, Pc is about equal with the consoles since now consoles
can download content. The only major difference is where say the playstation
version of Dark souls is bought on cd and then updated via the playstation
network, the Pc version is simply downloaded.

I have even heard steem described as a virtual console on a part with
Playstation or Xbox in it's own right, particularly true since Steam
concentrates heavily on games like First person shooters or flashy flight
sims with heavy use of 3D accellerated graphics that often appeal to a
younger and less gamer intensive audience, (one reason why the Niels bauer
attempt to get a mostly trextual stratogy game onto steam was not
successful).

Beware the Grue!

Hi Steve,

Well, I have been looking into this issue myself, and unfortunately most
manufacturers are no longer producing game pads for the PC. Your best bet is
to get an XBox 360 controller from Microsoft with a PC adapter if you care
about Windows 7 and Windows 8 compatibility. For some reason Logitech,
Philips, and others are still making controllers but not 64-bit drivers for
newer PCs. Meaning if you get a new Logitech controller and you have a
64-bit PC you have to depend on the generic Microsoft drivers which may not
fully support the controller such as force feedback and some programmable
buttons etc.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] New Game Controller for Pc

2013-12-10 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Shaun:

Well, that is true to a point. The last time I went out shopping for a
general joystick, game pad, etc the only things I could find from
Logitech etc were specialized game controllers like racing wheels,
flight sticks, boxing gloves, and things of that sort. Best buy had a
few older Logitech game pads in the store, but nothing new. What I was
told was that they aren't making any new game pads or joysticks any
more and they are focusing on specialized devices for the PC. I don't
know if that is true, but it would not surprise me since finding
drivers for some game pads and joysticks for a 64-bit PC is not always
easy.

Add to that since Windows Vista the input library is now XInput which
is he same library used on the XBox for XBox controllers. DirectInput
is all but deprecated and many controllers are either all XBox and
XInput compatible or has a switch to switch between DirectInput and
XInput. That further complicates the situation since most audio games
are still using DirectInput only, and that technology is pretty much
being phased out of use.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] New Game Controller for Pc

2013-12-10 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Paul:

Yes and no. If the game in question does not support a joystick or a
game pad then ¿you can't just go buy a Microsoft XBox controller and
expect it to work with the game out of the box. You would have to
download a third-party tool called Joy2key which allows you to map
various keyboard commands to joysticks, game pads, and so forth.
So it is possible to play games even without joystick support with a
joystick or a game pad if you use something like Joy2key, but you are
also limited in some ways such as lack of force feedback support or
not being able to map all actions to the controller. However,
basically if you wanted to do it you could use a Microsofgt controller
with any audio game. Obviously, games that have joystick and game pad
support should work with it out of the box without Joy2key etc.

Cheers!

Well all I know tom is that whenever I have gone shopping with my
friends to stores that used to be full with games years ago its
mostly console games now.

The computer games still exist but are less.
I think a lot is online to.
Another interesting fact at least from what I have seen on the ground
is that quite a few things are payed online subscription.

At 06:24 AM 12/11/2013, you wrote:

I don't
know if that is true, but it would not surprise me since finding
drivers for some game pads and joysticks for a 64-bit PC is not always
easy.

well it all depends on what you want.
Lotitech still arguably make the best sticks /pads, though I have
heard from a hard core gamer that plays that force feedback although
good does sacrofice some positional information especially with centering.
He recomended the ms prosition sticks but these are large heavy metal
things which to be honest you probably do not want.
I don't have space for an actual stick myself but I think I may end
up with some gamepad, there is a philips one but to be honest I have
only needed keyboard and mouse so far so I am not sure.

As I do not use a Mac, I don't know if the site is accessible when using

OK, it's up. It's very basic, and I'm still transitioning from the addictor
theme, but you can download and purchase Phrase Madness and Heywire. Go to

www.ThePionEar.net
and check it out. I've decided I want my logo to be a man sitting in an
old-fashion covered wagon, talking on the phone and holding a computer in
his lap. Anyway, those two games are up, and I'll put the others up
shortly.

Re: [Audyssey] new game site

2012-02-16 Thread Ken
Here's the manual for Heywire. It's a freeby, but that doesn't mean it
won't get better with time and effort.

Heywire

by

PionEar Games

++1: the story

It's time for the party, and everything is set but the music. You've got the
best sound system you could buy, (which isn't that great really--but it's
yours,) which has four speakers. You put your favorite CD in the player and
press the shuffle button. The song is ready and playing, and it sounds good.
Now all that is left is to put the speakers where they should go.

++2 game play

+Keyboard-specific controls

The game play is straightforward and simple, even if the controls are a bit
tricky to learn at first. Simply put the speakers where they go--that's it.

Use the e, d, s and f keys to move the left speakers, and the i, k, j, and l
keys to move the right speakers. The front speakers are selected by default.
To select the rear speakers, press enter. To attempt locking them down in
the correct order, press the space bar. Each attempt takes points from your
total score, and if the placing isn't at it's total best, that takes from
the score too. To lock them down temporarily, press the t key, ad press it
again to unlock them. (Note: since this is early beta, the scoring system
has not yet been implemented.) Press a, semicolon, z, and slash to hear an
audio trace of the wires that go to the front left, front right, rear left
and rear right speakers respectively. Press g, h, b, and n to mute the front
left, front right, right, rear left and rear right speakers respectively.

+Mouse-specific controls

To move a speaker up, left, down or right, simply move the mouse in that
direction.

To select the left speakers, click the left mouse button once.

To select the right speakers, click the right mouse button once.

To attempt to lock down the speakers, double click either mouse button. You
will still need to use enter to select front and rear speakers in this
version.

++Other Game Elements

+The Wires

The wires may be the most important clue you have to where the speakers are,
especially in later levels. You can press a, semicolon, z, and slash to
trace the speaker wires from your head to the front left, front right, rear
left, and rear right speakers respectively. The longer the sparking sound
continues, the further away the speaker in question is. The higher the level
you attain, the further the speakers may be placed.

+drift

One of the challenges you face as you complete this task is that the sounds
drift, and as you reach higher and higher levels, the sounds of the speakers
will drift more and more. Oh come on now, if the game was totally realistic
it wouldn't be very fun to play! You will need to compensate for this drift
by constantly working with the speakers until you have them precisely where
you want them before locking them down. Again, the higher the level, the
further the speakers may drift.

+Lockdown

Each axis of the speakers can be locked down separately. In this version,
since the scoring system is not yet developed, you can feel free to
experiment as much as you wish with it. You will be told which axis of which
speakers was locked down.

For example, if you hear, Front Left x axis locked, then you know that the
speaker is positioned correctly on that axis--not too far left of your head,
but not over it either.

++Putting in your own songs

This process is a bit tricky, since you have to split it into its left nd
right channels. Open your song with Goldwave or another sound editor, and
delete the right channel. Then save the file as left1.wav (or whatever you
are replacing,) as you see in the sounds folder. Then open the song again
and delete the left channel. Make sure its length is exactly the same as the
length of the left channel, and save it as right1.wav

++Plans for later Versions

So far, there is only one winning configuration that the computer
recognizes, but I will probably add others in, including the possibility to
reverse the rear speakers, which might give interesting stereophonic
results. The moving up and down of speakers might be implementd, as well as
having to stop the rotation of the listener so the music doesn't whirl
around you. I also plan to add the scoring system, refine the way the game
works, and add more songs. Any other ideas are welcome. Send them to
kenwdow...@neo.rr.com

2012-01-23 Thread Jorge Gonçalves

Hello everyone.
Just wanted to let you know that today it was presented a new fresh game
developped specially for the blind.

It was developed by a brazilian developer who's name is Tiago Arthur Cunha.
it's in portuguese only by he plans to make foreign translations.
It is a football (soccer= management game:
you are a manager of a football team and yu choose players to play,
tactics, watch the match, sell players etc.
I am very happy because since years I knew a lot of blind people in the
world would love to have a football game and here it is.

I am happy that Tiago did that.
The first version is freeware but I think he will charge for the next
versions. I will be the first one to purchase it.
The game's name is Talkative Soccer and if you understand portuguese the
link is here:

the word are is to be pronounced, I want to hear are, not ah,
heart instead of hot, and so on. There's an R there, so pronounce it.

enter, not enTuh. Also, I saw it instead of I sore it.

I don't know, for some reason hearing the same human speech over and over

in a game bothers me. But hearing the same sapi5 voice over and over
does not.

Now if I had sight and saw a human on the screen, I would expect to hear

human speech. But when I had sight, nothing on the screen looked
anything like a human.

[Audyssey] New Game from Spoonbill Software

2012-01-11 Thread Kelly Sapergia

Hi,

If this has already been mentioned on the list, I apologize.
For those of you who don't receive email updates from Ian Humphreys of
Spoonbill Software, he's just released a new game in his Blind Gamers
series. This time, it's a version of the popular Mastermind board game, in
which you have to guess a secret code the computer gives you. I got my copy
yesterday, and all I can say is it's fun, but challenging. I haven't been
able to crack a code yet, but am having fun trying. You can get this, and
the other games in the Blind Gamers series, which are all free, by
contacting Ian. For information on how to do this, or to read about his
games, visit Spoonbill Software at www.spoonbillsoftware.com.au/.

Thanks.

Do you have Jim Kitchen's version of this game, and, if so, how is this one
different? Thanks.

I got my
copy yesterday, and all I can say is it's fun, but challenging. I haven't
been able to crack a code yet, but am having fun trying. You can get this,
and the other games in the Blind Gamers series, which are all free, by
contacting Ian. For information on how to do this, or to read about his
games, visit Spoonbill Software at www.spoonbillsoftware.com.au/.

Thanks.

Yours Sincerely,

Re: [Audyssey] New Game: Apples to Apples!

2011-12-20 Thread michael barnes

Hello, Ryan.
Thanks for the update!
I would like to make a suggestion for the next version that comes out.
Is it possible to add a feature that would allow the client to
automatically update when the client is launch?
Another cool idea would be to have a feature in the client call offline
mode, in that mode people who are not connected to the internet could
still play against the computer.
Finally I would love to see a IOS version of the client, since alot of
people on here have a IOS device.
It would be great to be able to pull out my phone and play on the
client when I'm not at home!

Hi, Yes i agree with all of Michael's suggestions here. I think it would be
grate to have the cliant on i o s devices, also i like the idea of the client
autamatticly updating. Another suggestion i have is when you down load the new
verssion you have to keep redownloading the sounds for the games, is there a
way maybey that the games you've all ready downloaded the sounds for can be
remembered then you would only have to down load the sounds for the new games.

thanks very much.

Hi,
Especially since I've actually replaced the sounds for a few games and it is
exasperating to continuly have to do it over and over again. And I didn't
see anywhere where that was illegal.

Best Regards,

[Audyssey] New Game: Apples to Apples!

2011-12-19 Thread Ryan Smith
Hello Gamers,

Exactly 2 years ago, December 20th, 2009, RS Games released Monopoly.
The free game only ran on Windows, and was our sole multiplayer title.
What originally started out as a fun project turned into a dream come
true on this date. We received a heap of feedback from players,
extolling our work, as well as asking for more games. Therefore,
several months later, we released Uno, and the RS Games Client which
currently powers our multiplayer platform. Unlike Monopoly, this piece
of software runs on three common operating systems, Mac, Windows, and
Linux. It also allows us to release new games without people having to
go to a website and download new software.

In celebration of our first anniversary, on December 20th, 2010, we
added Yahtzee as our third title. It is one of the more popular games
on the server, and based on the comments from many players, we know
hours of fun have been spent playing it.

To celebrate our second anniversary, we are releasing our latest
title, Apples to Apples. It is a really fun game and I'm confident you
will enjoy it. Come visit us at www.rsgames.org and join the over 9000
registered players. You will need the latest version of our client,
version 1.4 which was released on Sunday in order to play.

Thank you.
-Ryan

Hi All,

On exactly this day a year ago, RS Games Monopoly was released. It
only worked on Windows and only had the potential to be one game. Now,
the RS Games server has expanded to support Windows, Linux, and Mac,
and allows you to play Monopoly and Uno. To mark the anniversary of
the first release, we are adding a third game to our
selection--Yahtzee. RS Games Yahtzee is an accessible, online,
multiplayer version of the classic dice game. Like our other games, it
is played on the RS Game server and features high quality sound
effects, the ability to chat with your friends, and much more.

You do not have to download anything new to play Yahtzee, although we
released an update patch last night and you should download it (from
www.rsgames.co.nr) if you haven't already. Simply login to your RS
Games account and choose Yahtzee from the games menu. Thanks go out to
our beta testers for testing the game and helping us to find and fix
bugs. We hope you enjoy Yahtzee, and happy holidays from RS Games!

Thanks.
