Ben:

With all due respect. Everyone has a right to their opinion.

I have had talks in the past and have a iphone currently and talks. I love
both speech packages. Iphone to me personally has more useable programs on
it and I like it a little bit more.

Talks was a trend setter and I will always love it.

Again each person has a right to what they like.

It is not fair for you to cast judgment for us who love the iphone as well
as talks.

I wish to contradict you about the iphone being the most accessible, but if
you pardon my language once more every single person I know who has had an
experience with one has said its shit. I myself agree. Talks is the best
thing for phones and is that way for years and will be.

Re: [Audyssey] Announcing RSGames Client Mobile!

2010-09-17 Thread Brandon Misch
ok that makes sense.

On Sep 17, 2010, at 12:28 AM, Thomas Ward wrote:

 Hi Brandon,
The reason is because the RS Games client was written in Python.
Python is a runtime language, that is it requires a third-party
runtime environment, and a Python program in theory will run on any
computer where there is a compatible Python runtime environment and
modules. So, for example, if I write and compile a Python 2.6 program
on Linux I can redistribute the compiled pyc files to any Mac or
Windows users and have them run the program provided they have Python
2.6 installed on their Windows or Mac machine. That is why Python is a
build once run anywhere type language.
Now, if the game were written in C or C++ then you would have to have
a Linux, Mac, and Windows machine to compile it on each platform. The
reason is because C/C++ is a native language and is compiled directly
to a native executable that doesn't require some third party runtime
environment. If you cut out that middle man, the runtime environment,
that means you have to take some extra steps in order to produce a
true Mac, Linux, or Windows program using C or C++.
The Up side to using a native language like C/C++ is you have more
direct access to the operating system, it performs better, but you
loose cross-platform portability in a lot of cases. The upside to
using Python is that you have that cross-platform design from the
start, but lose some performance on account of using a runtime
environment. Plus if there isn't a package that gives you access to
some specific native API for Python you end up having to write your
own wrappers to support that native API. So as you can see there are
pros and cons to each type of programming approach.

 Cheers!

Hi all PDA lovers out there. BrailleSoft and RSGames have teamed
 up to bring
you the RSGames Client Mobile version! The client is NOT yet
 available.
With this version, users can play RSGames titles like Monopoly
 and Uno for
free, chat, and have quite a wonderful time right from the
 following
 devices:
APH BraillePlus, Level Star's Icon, Windows Mobile Smartphone,
 other Windows
Mobile devices, Freedom Scientific's PAC Mate 4.1 and earlier,
 PAC Mate
Omni, and really soon, National Braille Press BrailleWizard! I
 understand on
the site it says that software wouldn't necessarily be PM
 specific to better
target other devices, however I haven't put anything in place
 just yet.
However when it does happen, rest assured you PM users won't be
 left out.
Once this client is complete it will be found on
BrailleSoft.net/rsclient.htm. Already the client from RSGames
 runs on
Windows, Mac, and Linux. However it uses components not found on
 Windows
Mobile and BraillePlus and Icon. This partnership now means that
 users on
Mobile devices can play against other mobile users and even other
 desktop
users without problems. Enjoy and I hope to see more of you on
 RSGames
 servers!

Hi,
Yeah, if there was a Symbian version I would imagine they would out
number the IPhone and Windows Mobile users. Unfortunately, I'm not
sure there is a Python interpreter for Symbian phones, and even if
there were a lot of the other stuff the client depends on such as
PyGame, PyTTS, etc wouldn't work on a Symbian phone. So you are out of
luck there.

Hi,

If someone could point us in the right direction for iPhone development,
there could possibly be an app, but as Liam said none of us have Macs. I
also heard that Apple lifted restrictions but have no idea what they're now
allowing. I've also heard that it's been agreed on by a lot of developers
that Objective C is the best way to develop apps, and for that I'm pretty
sure you need a Mac.

Hi all PDA lovers out there. BrailleSoft and RSGames have teamed up to
bring you the RSGames Client Mobile version! The client is NOT yet
 available.
With this version, users can play RSGames titles like Monopoly and Uno
for free, chat, and have quite a wonderful time right from the
 following
 devices:
APH BraillePlus, Level Star's Icon, Windows Mobile Smartphone, other
Windows Mobile devices, Freedom Scientific's PAC Mate 4.1 and earlier,
PAC Mate Omni, and really soon, National Braille Press BrailleWizard!
I understand on the site it says that software wouldn't necessarily be
PM specific to better target other devices, however I haven't put
anything in place just yet. However when it does happen, rest assured
you PM users won't be left out.
Once this client is complete it will be found on
BrailleSoft.net/rsclient.htm. Already the client from RSGames runs on
Windows, Mac, and Linux. However it uses components not found on
Windows Mobile and BraillePlus and Icon. This partnership now means
that users on Mobile devices can play against other mobile users and
even other desktop users without problems. Enjoy and I hope to see
more of you on RSGames servers!

I have had talks in the past and have a iphone currently and talks. I love

Talks was a trend setter and I will always love it.

Again each person has a right to what they like.

It is not fair for you to cast judgment for us who love the iphone as well

Re: [Audyssey] Announcing RSGames Client Mobile!

2010-09-16 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Brandon,
The reason is because the RS Games client was written in Python.

Cheers!

well its interesting you mentioned that.
I heard nokia is splitting or something and that all the newer phones
will be using a non accessible version of simbion.
On that note I'd far like to use my ipod rather than my symbian
device its good for a phone but I'd never seriously play games on it.
I wouldn't use my iphone for that reason all the things you feel
better with a keyboard but I'd get an ipod.

At 12:33 a.m. 17/09/2010, you wrote:

Hi,
Yeah, if there was a Symbian version I would imagine they would out
number the IPhone and Windows Mobile users. Unfortunately, I'm not
sure there is a Python interpreter for Symbian phones, and even if
there were a lot of the other stuff the client depends on such as
PyGame, PyTTS, etc wouldn't work on a Symbian phone. So you are out of
luck there.

hmmm
depends on the os version.
the first version of the os was shit but v4 should be better.
True you probably need a bluetooth keyboard.
Talks is currently the best but thats not goint to last for long.
nokia is splitting which means a period with the new symbian os being
not accessible.

I do aggree I won't have an iphone to be used as that but I will take the pod.

[Audyssey] Announcing RSGames Client Mobile!

2010-09-15 Thread Louis Bryant
Hi all PDA lovers out there. BrailleSoft and RSGames have teamed up to bring
you the RSGames Client Mobile version! The client is NOT yet available.
With this version, users can play RSGames titles like Monopoly and Uno for
free, chat, and have quite a wonderful time right from the following devices:
APH BraillePlus, Level Star's Icon, Windows Mobile Smartphone, other Windows
Mobile devices, Freedom Scientific's PAC Mate 4.1 and earlier, PAC Mate Omni,
and really soon, National Braille Press BrailleWizard! I understand on the site
it says that software wouldn't necessarily be PM specific to better target
other devices, however I haven't put anything in place just yet. However when
it does happen, rest assured you PM users won't be left out.
Once this client is complete it will be found on BrailleSoft.net/rsclient.htm.
Already the client from RSGames runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux. However it
uses components not found on Windows Mobile and BraillePlus and Icon. This
partnership now means that users on Mobile devices can play against other
mobile users and even other desktop users without problems. Enjoy and I hope to
see more of you on RSGames servers!

Hrm, apple recently lifted a lot of its restrictions. Maybe we can
code apps under windows now, I don't know.

Hi all PDA lovers out there. BrailleSoft and RSGames have teamed
 up to bring
you the RSGames Client Mobile version! The client is NOT yet
 available.
With this version, users can play RSGames titles like Monopoly
 and Uno for
free, chat, and have quite a wonderful time right from the
 following
devices:
APH BraillePlus, Level Star's Icon, Windows Mobile Smartphone,
 other Windows
Mobile devices, Freedom Scientific's PAC Mate 4.1 and earlier,
 PAC Mate
Omni, and really soon, National Braille Press BrailleWizard! I
 understand on
the site it says that software wouldn't necessarily be PM
 specific to better
target other devices, however I haven't put anything in place
 just yet.
However when it does happen, rest assured you PM users won't be
 left out.
Once this client is complete it will be found on
BrailleSoft.net/rsclient.htm. Already the client from RSGames
 runs on
Windows, Mac, and Linux. However it uses components not found on
 Windows
Mobile and BraillePlus and Icon. This partnership now means that
 users on
Mobile devices can play against other mobile users and even other
 desktop
users without problems. Enjoy and I hope to see more of you on
 RSGames
servers!
