Can someone who has the PC copy grab the sounds from the game

and upload

the
pack for some of us who would like to have the effects please?

That'd be

great, I found a soundpack full of marvel vs street fighter, but

it seems

to
be the only fighting-game soundpack I can ever find.

Yes, i do try some every so often. I can play somewhat on my psp, mainly
tekken, where I memorized the menu and always use my same fave character. It
is fun and all but sometimes trying to 'conquer' sighted games is also very
frustrating but I am not about to give up trying :)

You still can be one. Start with something simple like fighting games and
work your way up... and menus can be done, if you take the time to memorize

HEy Ron. The pad is more similar to an arcade stick, and will probably be
usable for other games like any standard gamepad. And it might be about 50
or so in Canada... don't know what the conversion is. The game alone is 40,
the bundle is 60 in the US.

I'm guessing 70 or 80 here in Canada. I'll probably get it, since this
seriously sounds neat and I absolutely love sf.

HEy Ron. The pad is more similar to an arcade stick, and will probably be
usable for other games like any standard gamepad. And it might be about 50
or so in Canada... don't know what the conversion is. The game alone is
40, the bundle is 60 in the US.

I've two quick questions about this PC game.

is the gamepad useable for other games? Is it similar to a playstation
or

other controller?
Also I wonder what it would be here in Canada?

Yes, I will agree that it does get a bit frustrating sometimes... it
really

can get difficult depending on the game. But hey, if it all works in the

Just wanted to let you all know that the newest Street Fighter is now
available for preorder on PC. Better yet, you can preorder the bundle
which includes the MadCatz GamePad for only $60.00! The game itself will
retail for $40, but if you don't have a GamePad, I highly recommend
getting
the $60 package. Just so you guys know, the GamePad was created
specifically

for fighting games, so it should work great. I have the game for PS3, but
I
have also pre-ordered the bundle. And yes guys, the game will include
online

play just like all the other versions, so I'll get to play you guys
online!
I think this will be a great way to introduce many of you to console
games

without actually owning one.

Re: [Audyssey] Great Street Fighter IV news for PC gamers!

2009-05-12 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Yohandy,
It is extremely doubtful Jaws will read anything on the screen in the
game. That is essentially because what is displayed on screen isn't
normal text that most Windows applications use, isn't handled via a
standard window API, and is drawn directly to the screen through DirectX
or some other special graphics API. So what appears to be text to
sighted users is actually drawn directly to the screen through the
underlying graphics API rather than through a standard Windows toolkit
like Win32. I don't know if this makes sense to you, but the short
answer is what is displayed on screen is seen as a graphic to Jaws,
Window Eyes, Hal, etc rather than text.
The main reason Jaws, Window Eyes, Hal, etc can't identify text inside a
game Window is do in part to the way the Windows operating system was
designed. All of the Windows screen readers get most of there on screen
information from the Win32 User32.dll library. User32.dll handles all
kinds of low level functionality such as getting the current Window
handle, Window title, text on the screen, bla. While User32.dll is
invaluable for standard Windows applications it will not get similar
information if the text on the screen doesn't use the standard Win32
API, and it uses DirectX or something else to display the text. This
also explains while Java applications aren't accessible until you
install the Java Access Bridge which acts as a bridge between the Java
graphics toolkit, Swing, and Jaws.

Re: [Audyssey] Great Street Fighter IV news for PC gamers!

2009-05-12 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi Thomas,
I have heard that some people print the screen to a graphics file, then run
that file through an OCR package to read a graphics screen.

In the future maybe Screen reading programs will have this capability.
Of course reading the text would be only half the problem as you would also
need to know what text was near the mouse pointer and then you would have to
be able to click the mouse at that point.
The Opticon device could also turn graphic text to vibrating points when
held up to the screen.

Phil

Re: [Audyssey] Great Street Fighter IV news for PC gamers!

2009-05-12 Thread ChB
If jaws would read PCs games, man that would be the break thru for blind
gamers. Imagine how many of the mainstream games would be available. Sounds
funny but more than anything I miss being able to play all those hundreds of
games. I was an avid pc/console gamer before I lost all my sight:(

As a consolation to those pensive about wiether the game will use the mouse
or keyboard... most fighting games I've played use the keyboard for
navigation, and the mouse generally has nothing to do with the game. So
unless I'm mistaken, SFIV should have the same design. Though given the
game, I'm guessing there's going to be need for a lot, and I mean a lot, of
space and processing power.

Re: [Audyssey] Great Street Fighter IV news for PC gamers!

2009-05-12 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi,
Yeah, there are very few games that would. As I explained in my prier
e-mail the fundimental issue is that text in games is piped through some
high end graphics API like DirectX or OpenGL rather than through a
standard toolkit like Win32 and screen readers are totally blind to any
text on screen in that case. Not much we can do about it since the Win32
API only tracks text and information that comes from the Win32 API, and
screen readers can easily plug into the API and aquire such information
easily. DirectX, OpenGL, aren't in the habit of exposing on screen
information to anywhere but the screen it is impossible for a screen
reader to aquire the information from the API.

I heard rumours a while back from a buddy of mine who saw a
presentation that Cobra would b able to do realtime OCR in situations
like this. Of course even if they get the Screen Reader off the
ground there'd still be an extra level that you wouldn't find in
accessible titles of reading the menu, counting the number of options
and working out which thing you're clicking on, but it'd be a start
wouldn't it.

actually, I read a comment somewhere from capcom that said they didn't want
to limit the game to 2% of people with powerful systems. something like
that. at any rate sounds like good news. they really want this game to sell
well. I think if a powerful computer was needed to run the game, they
would've given us some system requirements already before they started
taking preorders. also just so you guys know, the game will run on Windows
XP, Vista and windows 7. If I find out any more info I'll let everyone know.

Once you have menus and character selection screens memorized, the moves
themselves aren't so hard to pull off. Stuff like down forward with a
particular punch or kick, half circle motions, not too complicated once you
get used to it. Though you might want to be aware of the fact that
performing functions with a keyboard especially can take a bit to get used
to.

As a consolation to those pensive about wiether the game will use the
mouse or keyboard... most fighting games I've played use the keyboard
for

navigation, and the mouse generally has nothing to do with the game. So
unless I'm mistaken, SFIV should have the same design. Though given the

This is why I like all the anime-based fighting games so much. Most of their
menus are narated. They don't particularly tell you what the menu item is,
but they give you a description of what you'll find. For example, one of the
items in Dragon ball z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 of course, is options. They
don't say options, but one of the characters comes up on the screen and
says, you can change your game, camera and other options here. And the main
story mode is described as, You can experience all sorts of historic batles
here! Etc.

Hi Mike,
It isn't an accessible game, and it doesn't work with a screen reader. You
will need to remember the menus etc just like you would if playing the
console version.

Just wanted to let you all know that the newest Street Fighter is now
available for preorder on PC. Better yet, you can preorder the bundle
which includes the MadCatz GamePad for only $60.00! The game itself will
retail for $40, but if you don't have a GamePad, I highly recommend getting
the $60 package. Just so you guys know, the GamePad was created specifically
for fighting games, so it should work great. I have the game for PS3, but I
have also pre-ordered the bundle. And yes guys, the game will include online
play just like all the other versions, so I'll get to play you guys online!
I think this will be a great way to introduce many of you to console games
without actually owning one.

 Hello,

Actually, you'll only get to play other PC players online, there's no
 cross-platform playability with xbox360, nor PS3.

And yes guys, the game will include
 online

play just like all the other versions, so I'll get to play you guys
 online!
I think this will be a great way to introduce many of you to console games
 without actually owning one.
