Re: [Audyssey] demos or full games
That's true tom, though with lw I personally find my problem with spacial relations rather gets in the way of me doing particularly well even if I practice for weeks. I certainly don't regret buying the game, and have completed a few missions, it's just not a game I personally have a chance of being fantastic at. Getting back to demos though, this is why lw has to have the first couple missions available for a long time, just to make certain a player has time to practice at the game. Beware the Grue! As long as you have fun with the game, that's what matters. Although I am lousy at SOD, it's a fun game that I enjoy. Re: [Audyssey] demos or full games
Indeed charles. But it took me a while to get good enough at that first lw mission to want to buy the game. I don't regret buying it certainly (even though I'm not too good), but if the demo had only been say, limited for three days I probably wouldn't sinse I wouldn't have completed the first mission. That's why I like gma's demos with their unlimited time but very limited access to the game. Beware the Grue! I like that idea, too. GMA Tank Commander not only has a time limit, but you can only work the first of 6 missions. I like that approach. You do get enough of a taste of the game to determine whether or not you are interested. Shades of Doom lets you explore and complete the first level. Based on the 3 demos, I bought the games. The second mission of Lone Wolf really gives you a feel for the game because there is an enemy that will attack you. --- Laughter is the best medicine, so look around, find a dose and take it to heart. - Original Message - From: dark d...@xgam.org To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, March 06, 2011 5:18 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] demos or full games Indeed charles. Re: [Audyssey] demos or full games
Hi Dark, To be honest LW is a fairly advanced game for the VI market, and it is something that you really have to practice at to get good at. I'm probably an expert player at the game because when I first purchased it I think I practically played it non-stop for a year or two. Obviously the more time you put into it the better you get. That's what makes LW one of the top games in my opinion. It is not something you can just pick up and play right away. Which is, unfortunately, one of its drawbacks as well. I've been around the list long enough to know there are quite a few people who just want easy games. they want simple games. Games you don't have to work all that hard at. That's fine, but LW isn't for that group of players at all. It is aimed at advanced gamers with an interest in games that are more difficult than the usual accessible games. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] demos or full games
Hi, Yeah, the Tank Commander method is probably best. I know that Sarah has the exact same demo mode in place as well. It lets you play level 1, but at the same time there is a 10 minute time limit on the game. Usually that's just long enough to really really get into the game, and then time's up. That's why I eventually broke down and bought it. I got tired of the timer going off just when things were starting to get good. Its like reading a good book or watching a television show and it ends right at the cliff hanger. Cheers! On 3/6/11, Charles Rivard woofer...@sbcglobal.net wrote: I like that idea, too. [Audyssey] demos or full games
If you played the demos of Lone Wolf and Shades of Doom, then bought the games, you would see how good the full game is. You barely scratch the surface by playing the demos compared to the fully unlocked games. --- Laughter is the best medicine, so look around, find a dose and take it to heart. - Original Message - From: dark d...@xgam.org To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Saturday, March 05, 2011 6:39 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] esp pinball classic Imho that's a bit too generous for a demo, 50 minutes? you wouldn't need to buy the game to get a good play on the first two tables. My favourite demos are those like Gma which give you full access for as long as you like, but only to a small portion of the game. This way you can test the game out with no urgency to pay sinse you won't run out of time, but at the same time the developer isn't giving his/her game out for free, remember afterall, there are people who just! play demos and nothing else. Myself, rather than any sort of time limit, in pinball I'd prefer a points limit. Say of a million points in the packman and haunted house tables, this would also insure that you didn't see the minigames in those table too often either. That would imho show of the game very well, but make certain that paying was highly worth while. Beware the grue! I think it may be a problem with your computer, but you can try contacting draconis about it. I in fact wish that it didn't have a time limit in days, but minutes instead. Here's how it would work. The game would let you try the packman and wild west tables as usual, however it times out after 50 minutes or so. You can run the game for as many times as you want, however if you want to play it again you need to reboot your computer. The same would apply for all draconis games except monky business. I'll talk to James about that today.
