Re: [Audyssey] game code/tying to a system/activation rant!
Hi Scott, One reason to contact me is that I'm on this list and frequently talk to David Greenwood of GMA. He sells my game, Packman and I use his engine on Sarah, so he gets a share of the sales of the games that use it. As to why he hasn't gotten back to Dave, it could be his message is being blocked by Spam filters. I had to add a second email account as some internet providers block my pcs games account. Hi, Not only that, but the GMA policy on key replacements is four standard business days excluding weekends and holidays. Although, I've gotten key replacements on the weekend as well and generally have found David Greenwood pretty responsive in answering his mail. I might add when you send a key replacement request you should receive an automated email stating your message was received by GMA sales, and you can expect your replacement key in one to four business days. That's more than fair considering the hardware locking system he is using now requires a human to generate new keys. Cheers! Hi Folks, I got this message from David Greenwood and he said: In regards to Dave Mehler, he only requested a key yesterday and I state that it can take up to four days. I've sent him his key though. The only thing I can think of is he might have sent another key request a week or so ago. I needed to have my email account reset and I may have lost some mail then. But he didn't mention that he had requested a key previously. Re: [Audyssey] game code/tying to a system/activation rant!
well I have been on the lworks site, liam is aware of the issue. it seems his webhost hates him or something because his mail is just not getting to him. he has gmail so in theory that shouldn't matter, but he is busy and probably doesn't have the time to check it all the time who knows. Myself I think he should automate his registration process for every game he has or have someone handle his reg system for him I'd happily do it for nothing. his games are really good so is he. but his email seems to give him issues for all we know something at his end is stopping him getting mail. you can blame the hackers and other wonkas for the state of affairs. as an admin I really have issues with security on microfudge and others. a couple months ago, windows decided that it was pirated on one of the remote servers. for a month it said it was alegal then suddenly fixed itself just as I was about to fix everything by reformatting again. After reading simular articles about it on my toshiba it mentioned that if this bios needed to be updated. in march this year the bios was updated because it was crashing with some backup raid drives and such. My suspicians unproven ofcause is that ms never refreshed its database after the upgrade, and managed to go all this time since march till july at least without an issue. there were also some video card and dns issues round that time still is one logged vid issue needing fixing. for all last month ms said we were running an alegal copy of windows and to pay 100 bucks for another key. suddenly a day before I was about to instruct the system to reformat, I would have done it earlier but didn't have the time that week, the system rechecked and fixed its database and has been working floorlessly ever since. Ofcause some of the newer games entombed and some of the draconis systems have a cloud based reg system where you don't get a code its on your account and thats secured with a username and such. I have a program like this for dvd extraction. you have an id and a code. Re: [Audyssey] game code/tying to a system/activation rant!
Hi Dave, I know the feeling, and agree it is extremely infuriating and aggravating. It is for precisely that reason I will never resort to system specific product activations. I think it harms the customer more than it does the pirate who can find ways around such measures in any case. I have even decided not to purchase some software because of that kind of product security. Cheers! Same, always within 48 hours at the longest. The one exception I can think of is when there was some dispute as to whether a key swap had taken place, but even then, GMA were happy to talk and resolve rather than avoid the issue. Interesting that it's not one of the names that pops up all too often in these discussions. Good luck Dave, hope you get it worked out dude. Scott On 9/5/13, john jpcarnemo...@comcast.net wrote: Wow.
