Hi, Brandon.
I'd be interested in how you take down the Rankors. As I said my method
in MOS was to call my light saber, through the cell door, and then take
it down with the saber.

Alrighty then. Here it is, in all its strangeness and sick humor.
It happens while you're exploring the sewers on a planet called Tarris. You
learn early on of someone who tried to take down the rankor earlier, and
failed miserably. You then find out about an experimental synthetic odor
that is supposed to attract Rankors. Not only that, you find three samples
of this odor. So what you do is this. You go back to the mutilated corpse of
the person who tried to take out the Rankor. In this game, remains of any
kind are considered a sort of container when you search them. Ya know, so
you can find items on bodies and such. Well, this game also allows you to
put things in containers, or in this case, on the remains. So first, you
place a frag grenade on the body. Then, you place one of the synthetic odors
on the body. Then, you watch with delight as the Rankor approaches, sniffs,
eats the whole thing, and explodes from the inside out seconds later. I am
told it looks rather gross wheen you examine what's left of the thing. Haha.

2006-05-06 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi.
Yeah. Anyone who hasn't played Mysteries of the Sith is missing a cool
game. I especially liked level 11 or 12.
You are playing Mara Jade who has just recently turned from the dark
side, has become a new Jedi Knight, and in level 11 or 12 you land on
this planet that is a giant swamp. You find this pit, and when you force
jump in to it you swim across this stream to a hidden door. When you
open it there is an underground temple which you have to enter to
continue through the level.
When you enter the temple out steps a dark side clone of Mara Jade which
you must fight. That was always one of the coolest battles in the game.
The dark side Mara is, well, down right mean.
She tries every nasty stunt in the book from force blinding, throwing
green lightning at you, and a few other dark side tricks. The only way
to beat the other Mara was to back out of the temple and fight her in
the stream. If you stayed in the temple in close quarters she cleaned
your clock for you.
I guess what I liked about that mission was actually facing a double of
yourself. That means you have equal powers, strengths, weaknesses, and
one was fighting for the Jedi Knights, and the other was fighting for
the Sith.

 Hi.
So do I. When I still had sight I played Jedi Knight Dark Forces II and
Jedi Knight Mysteries of the Sith quite a bit. Although, I liked
Mysteries of the Sith better do to a better story line and it had Mara
Jade in it which I really liked character wize.
Some of the levels makes Shades of Doom seam simple to navigate.
For example, in Mysteries of the Sith, (MOS,) there were levels like 5
where you had to find this switch or button, press it, jump in to this
water, dive to the bottom, find an opening door, and quickly swim
through before it closed. You had all kinds of ways in and out like
climbing through a hole in the cealing, cut open access grates, doors
under water, and all kinds of stuff like that. It made exploring real fun.
There were also interesting challenges like one level you are captured,
stripped of your weapons, and then locked in a cell. Your job was to
 escape.
Well, you had to use the force to get the key from the guard, unlock the
cell, and then physically take the guard down in hand to hand combat.
Eventually, you found your weapons, but they were guarded by a Rankor.
 Ugly things you know?
So you ended up using the force to call say your light saber to you,
took out the Rankor, and then faught your way like heck off that level.
 Kick butt game.

Um... No. This is a first person perspective game? That is from the

As I had mentioned before it is largely going to draw upon past Lucas

Please, let's get off the cute and cuddly kick. Smile.
This is going to be a high energy action game with allot of saber
fighting, whiping out enemy troops, sneeking around, breaking in to
rooms, you name it.

One very important part of the Starwars universe is the concept that
the Jedi does the minimum violence necessary to achieve a greater

Hi.
That is true, and one reason I am looking at alternitive ways of
disabling an enemy. For example, you might want to use hand to hand
combat like punching and kicking the individual to knock him her out
rather than pulling out your light saber and killing him/her off. That
is if preservation of life matters to the player.
The other angle is using the force to confuse or distract an enemy. This
might allow you the chanse to slip through an area undetected, but
however that power could be horrably abused. For example if you distract
them and then use the light saber to kill them that spells more of dark
side tactics then one a real Jedi would use. While they are distracted
they are not a threat, and killing them at that point would be, well,
devious.
I am also adding, per user request, dark side powers. Understand though
by using them you will hurt your game scoring, and alter events in your
players life.

Hi Richard.
Let us just say I am strongly considdering the dark side angle
carefully. The mainstream Star Wars games do this split all the time.
Usually, the include Civilians and other non-combatants in the game
which you kill to get dark force powers and points.
If you pick the light side you gradually get force skills, and force
points. If you pick the dark side you rapidly gain points and skills,
but usually kill the current bad Sith lords only to replace them and
take there place and rank.
Actually, there is other orders of Dark Jedi besides the Sith. I am
wondering if I should include any of them.
Of course, that could be in a different game where you play a Dark Jedi
and attemp to move up through the ranks, kill other orders, and try and
become the greatist of dark Jedi.

Re: [Audyssey] Jedi Strike was u s a game titles

2006-05-05 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi.
Oh, it would have to be two separate gamees alright. The ladder game
would probably follow something along the lines of the Sith Academy type
game.
You would begin the game on the lowest level of the skale, and then face
off in compititions with other dark Jedi warriors for their standings.
You also would slowly gain more powers of deception, force abilities,
grow in anger and hate, and learn to feed off of the dark side energies.
Cool concepts, but out side of Jedi strike.
In Jedi strike I would have to add something more simple like decisions
like rescue or kill a civilian, use force or not use force on an
enemy, and stay away from dark side powers or use them.

Richard Bennett wrote:
I like that idea as well of having a dark sith game as well as the force
jedi game. either as a separate game or as 1 huge game. If I was better at
game programming, I would offer to help in anyway, but am not that developed
yet, but know that the offer is out there for when I get better.

I thought that it may be 2 different games, but you could sell them as a
package for a lower price if someone wanted both of them, and give them to
me for me *laugh* Just kidding. But anyways both of the games sound awesome.

Hi.
seriously, that would be a good possability. When the second game came
out have a combo pack like the way GMA does.

yes it would be. But I will purchase the jedi game when it first comes out,
so people who purchase the jedi version when it comes out wouldn't get that
deal, but oh well. That is the price a customer pays for buying a game that
they really want.

 Hi Christopher.
Adding some rpg elements such as being able to change the race of the
player would be certainly interesting. As you pointed out

a Wookie Jedi would be a fierce warrior. You not only have the normal Jedi
skills but physical size and strengthover a human player. You would be
 very skilled on forest planets.
Other races from the Star Wars universe would have their own interesting
 abilities.

It would add to replay value if one had several choices of characters
to play, or at least character backgrounds. A wookie Jedi would be

Hi.
H... Perhaps some day down the road a sequal to Jedi Strike could be
written where you are one of the dark sith warriors, and you are suppose
to cary out missions.

Richard Bennett wrote:
yeah it would add something extra to the game. You could do all those things
and more. But for now, I am content with being a jedi, but hopefully one day
I will be able to turn dark

A wookie would be a biggerf target and probably slower than other
races/types of charecters. Can you be r2d2 or c3PO? Maybe you wouldn't
want to be him...his sweet scholarly nature might get a bit annoying.
*grins*
Who are the assalamiri? Just wondered.

Re: [Audyssey] Jedi Strike was u s a game titles

2006-05-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Huh C3PO and R2 are droids not Jedi. One has to be a living creature
to wield the force, or at least half living. General Grievous being the
exception who was part organic and part machine.
Anyway, for a Wookie being slow I doubt it. Especially, a Jedi one would
be able to use the force to increase running speed.
As for the

assalamiri it is not who are they but what are they. They are a special alien
creature able to push back the force and create a forceless

bubble which disables a Jedi from using the force.

the ysalamiri are creatures native to the planet myrkyr that repel the
force, there the force is unusable on the planet. we first see them in heir
to the empire by timothy zahn.

Well, I wasn't planning on it. Although, I suppose they could be added
for the mission where you have to protect Leia from the assassination
attempt. Although, her own Nogry guards are pretty good.
