Hi Charles,
Yeah, assuming we are talking about a lighter I'd imagine so.

Hi Phil,
True but I'd say it is more likely that Angela would have a lighter in
her back pack rather than matches. It is small, convenient, and
she'd likely have something on hand if she plans to be hanging around
in a dark tomb or cave.

Hi Lori,
The problem with that suggestion is that it isn't very true to the
mythical Medusa or any of the gorgons for that matter. That sounds
more like a Siren and not a gorgon. I'm really trying to make the new
enemies as realistic as possible based on there individual Greek
mythologies.

Hi Thomas,
For fighting medusa ,
If you can't see her then her gaze attack would be nullified.
How about allowing you to put out the torch?
You could have a special key combination, like shift T.
To light it again you would need to use one of your matches in your
inventory.
You could also put out the torch before jumping in the water to
preserve it.
Of course what I would like best is to use the torch like a weapon,
such as Indy used in the Rader's of the Lost Arc, in chasing away
snakes.

While I know you want to keep things relatively accurate to griek
myths,

perhaps a modification here for gameplay purposes might be helpful.

In Castlevania Iv, you fight medusa the Gorgon in the 2nd world. It's
obviously an action (allbeit one with extensive exploration anbd
several
interesting environments and weapons), so having something like a
polished
shield which you need to equip and use wouldn't be appropriate to the
rest

of the game as there is no equipping or specific item use.

So instead, Medusa has two attacks. She pulls snakes from her hair
which
slither along the ground at you, and fires a fireball from her eyes
which

turns you to stone.

Perhaps taking this idea of making the gaze attack a projectile
instead, you

could actually have the shield employed as a weapon used to bounce the
attack back at her a number of times, - but obviously you'd have
to be
pretty quick with the shield to avoid her fireballs and stop becoming
a

statue.

Beware the Grue!

If you can't see her then her gaze attack would be nullified.
How about allowing you to put out the torch?
You could have a special key combination, like shift T.
To light it again you would need to use one of your matches in your
inventory.
You could also put out the torch before jumping in the water to preserve
it.
Of course what I would like best is to use the torch like a weapon, such
as Indy used in the Rader's of the Lost Arc, in chasing away snakes.

All ideas for MOTA the Ultimate version.

While I know you want to keep things relatively accurate to griek myths,
perhaps a modification here for gameplay purposes might be helpful.

In Castlevania Iv, you fight medusa the Gorgon in the 2nd world. It's
obviously an action (allbeit one with extensive exploration anbd several
interesting environments and weapons), so having something like a
polished
shield which you need to equip and use wouldn't be appropriate to the
rest

of the game as there is no equipping or specific item use.

So instead, Medusa has two attacks. She pulls snakes from her hair which
slither along the ground at you, and fires a fireball from her eyes which
turns you to stone.

Perhaps taking this idea of making the gaze attack a projectile instead,
you

could actually have the shield employed as a weapon used to bounce the
attack back at her a number of times, - but obviously you'd have to
be

pretty quick with the shield to avoid her fireballs and stop becoming a
statue.

Beware the Grue!

Re: [Audyssey] medusa in MOTA

2010-06-07 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Phil,
You know that's a pretty good idea. It would be kind of cool jamming
a torch into a zombie for example. Since the undead, all undead
creatures, are especially hurt by fire that would be a pretty painful
and damaging attack. Heck with trying to bblow them away with guns
just torch the creeps. Lol!
Your idea of putting the torch out so you can't see Medusa also is a
cool idea. That's actually better than using the shield. If you can't
see her the doom gaze couldn't really hurt you much. You and Medusa
would have to resort to other kinds of attacks in the dark.

Hi Phil,
Matches? Where'd you find those, just lying around the tomb? That'd look
strange.
Best Regards,
Hayden
