equery which packagename is meant to give you the full path and name of
the ebuild file for the version of packagename that portage would
install.
however on my system it gives the latest unstable version, at least of
mythtv.
viz:

should find the ebuild you would install, and honour stuff
like ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=~x86 and the contents of the various /etc/portage
bits.
I will follow up with the devs/bugs if I get time.
Cheers.

other words the gentoo developer has not marked it as such, there is
usually a period of 'settling down" before a new ebuild gets marked

Anyway, my point was that, unlike some other distros where you have to

which I have never heard of. Unless something has changed the script is

generate-modprobe.conf seems to come from module-init-tools and
update-modules from baselayout. I suspect that the former is generic and
the latter specific to gentoo.

you do not need screen. try running them under bash! ctrl-pgup/ctrl-pgdn.
Even works in a console. There is undoubtedly an ENV variable to control
the number of lines.
Also the program script will save everything to a file for later perusal,
or which you could tail -f in another xterm/console.

enabled. Once I disabled it in the xmms/Preferences shoutcast

-rw-r--r-- 1 nick users 3809210
r
execute bit set, but they don't!
