Re: [Gimp-developer] API proposal for libgimp export dialog

So let's not make this error worse by introducing a new function that has the same broken semantics. If you really need the semantics of gimp_export_image() as an interim solution, that's fine. But then we don't need to add an extra API for this. If you pass NULL as 'format_name' to gimp_export_image(), then it will not ask the user any dialogs. So it will do exactly what you proposed for gimp_export_prepare_image(). That would not be a good API, but as an interim solution it would work. So the only API I will add to libgimp then is GtkWidget * gimp_export_dialog_new (const gchar *format_name, const gchar *role, const gchar *help_id) GtkWidget * gimp_export_dialog_get_content_area (GtkWidget *dialog) Unless more complications arise I will add and port to this API soon / Martin ___ Gimp-developer mailing list Gimp-developer@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-developer
Re: [Gimp-developer] [Gegl-developer] GEGL-0.1.0
Hi, On Sat, 2009-07-18 at 15:21 -0700, David Evans wrote: Sven Neumann wrote: Note to all users of GIMP 2.6: The gimp-2.6 releases that we have done so far will not work with GEGL 0.1.0 (or babl 0.1.0). This is not because GEGL would be incompatible, but rather because of a stupid bug in the run-time version check. This is fixed in git and we plan to do GIMP 2.6.7 release with this fix soonish. There are however a few more patches pending that we'd like to get into 2.6.7 as well. So give us a few more days... Any update on a GEGL 1.0 compatible GIMP 2.6.7? Still in the queue and the number of pending patches is going down... [Gimp-developer] What would be a better set of default resources?
Hi, With the integration of tagging support in GIMP we have a mechanism that allows us to organize resources (brushes, patterns, palettes, and gradients). This enables us to add a bigger set of default resources. Not being an artist myself makes me rather useless for this task. To get things rolling I thought I'd start a discussion on what a better set of default resources would be. A few things are clear: * The new default resources must fit the product vision [1] * The resources must be very general in nature * We can't have a huge set of resources since we need to keep the size of the tarball within reasonable limits * We not only need resources, we also need to assign tags to them I think we at least should: * Add larger variants of the circle and fuzzy circle brushes, say 50, 100, 250 and 500 px * Try to get rid of the Pepper, Sparks and Vine brushes in a backwards compatible way Does anyone have any suggestions on adjustments and additions to the default set of GIMP resources? / Martin [1] http://gui.gimp.org/index.php/GIMP_UI_Redesign#product_vision ___ Gimp-developer mailing list Gimp-developer@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-developer

I have a few suggestions as a creative/artistic user which uses GIMP mainly with a pen tablet (as probably any other people who is serious into raster graphic art). I'm not sure if they fit the product vision, but I'm trying anyway: - As you say, add larger variants of standard brushes. Artists typically work on rather large canvases (I personally use 300 dpi A4, which equates roughly to 3500x2500 pixels). The standard maximum brush size of 19 pixels at these resolutions can be quite small. - Add some variations of rake brushes (not standard in Gimp right now) and more different types and sizes of bristle brushes. - Add more realistic patterns from commonly used artistic media (for example different types of paper, etc), to simulate easily its texture while drawing. -- SHIRAKAWA Akira ___ Gimp-developer mailing list Gimp-developer@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-developer

Once that is done, the most popular brushes can be added to the default set. What say ??
