I think there's a plug in that does this (have a look in the registry).
I have done a plug in which (among other things) allows you to select brush
size

So I have a problem with using the Gradient Editor
Trying to come up with a useful way organize my toolboxes on the UI, I settled
on putting the Gradient Editor on the right half of the window, occupying the
entire column. I may rearrange things later, but for now it works . . . except
... have just downloaded and installed Gimp 2.8.10 and am unsure if I need to
download and install Python for Gimp as discussed at this page

I always find issues with the orientation of the tool options which currently
occupies too much space regardless where you dock it, simply because of its
vertical orientation. I wish we could have an option for the tool options bar to
appear right above the tool box across the screen,
