I have installed GIMP version 2.6.12 on two identical machines,
Windows 764-bit and the program installed but will not open. There is

Are they both updated with win update, service packs, etc?
they are both the same version of Win 7? (home, starter, pro or
whatever they call it now, etc)
they have the same software installed, antivirus, etc?

I'm switching from Gimp on Windows to a Mac.
(It's an older one, a G5 tower with Leopard only,

I totally agree with you though.
I actually used to run Ubuntu with Gimp on that, and loved it.
But I come from long graphics experience, and wish to use many
of the other programs, video, audio etc that run on macs.

Oh, one more thing, and I wish to do mobile development
and you kind of have to have a Mac for parts of that to
use a lot of the mac developer's tools.
At least that's my understanding for now.

You might also want to give Inkscape a try - it's a native SVG
editor. The best you can do with the GIMP is convert the SVG file
from vector format to a bitmap format, and p
