[Goanet] Religion and Politics.

2017-09-02 Thread Dr . Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão

This is in reference to a letter published on a couple of newspapers in
respect to Religion and Politics. The writer in fact compares the article on
‘Renovação’ as a misuse of Freedom of speech , when in fact, what he states in
the letter as facts, have absolutely no truth, a clear falsification of history
that smacks of ignorance or ulterior motives.
Germany during the Nazi Regime was no more Catholic as it is at present, which
is around 30%, which definitely is not Catholic Dominated as Poland. History
also says that the Church did fight against Nazi regime in its own way, maybe
not by publishing articles, if that’s what the writer meant. It is very
glaring that the letter criticises the Church for publishing the article in the
Church magazine, and in the same stride criticises the Church of being silent
during the Nazi regime. The writer and others who criticise the Church on this
issue, specially Catholics, need to know that most Nazis were brought up
Catholics but in adulthood had turned hostile towards her. Catholics were
persecuted during Nazi regime, and infact many Catholics rescued Jews. History
cannot be changed, but can be manipulated to the ignorants.
And lastly, There's a deep ravine that divides Politics and Social Injustice,
and cannot be confused for one another.

2017-07-20 Thread Dr . Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão

It is sad to note that some people display such ignorance on public media with
their letters to editors. One writer recently wrote that people are unnecessary
doubting Goa police for arresting allegedly a mentally unsound person in the
recent desecrations. He cites demonstration videoed by police to show he is
capable, and that no further desecration took place. Is that sufficient
evidence in the Court of Law. On the contrary there is plenty of evidence that
glaring show contradictions, and investigations carried out in total disregard
to rules of criminal investigation. A witness is there who has seen a white
Tata Indica. Police say they found Herald clipping with handwriting at
cemetery, a top police official is on record on logical conclusion that the
desecration is not the work of a mentally deranged person, The impression on
tombs and niches show glaringly that it is not a small hammer, The main cross
over entrance of cemetery was broken to release which soul? Can a small hammer
break the concrete cross? Plenty more, for which the IO will be shred to pieces
in the witness box. The Church should Petition the Judiciary to have the
investigation under judicial supervision. After all, it is property under their
care that was vandalised. Further desecration have stopped, in no way means the
culprit is apprehended.

There is a very clear judgement of the Supreme Courts on such lands, and a very

[Goanet] Goa government to eliminate rabies ?

2017-03-22 Thread Dr . Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão

This is in reference to a news item that appeared in a section of the Press
stating the Goa government working towards elimination of canine rabies from
India. That the goal will be attained by only vaccinating dogs, both domestic
and strays; and a hotline established for public to report any dog seen with
signs of rabies. The news smacks of Ignorance about rabies and that it can be
eliminated. Permit me to enlighten our ignorant government about facts of
rabies.
Rabies is a viral disease transmitted to humans by animals mostly through bites
and scratches. The infected animal is not restricted only to the dog, domestic
or stray, but also to cats, bats, skunks, and a varied other animals. The virus
cannot be eliminated, but incidence of rabies can be controlled.
The yearly incidence of deaths due to rabies in Goa is in single digit, whereas
the incidence of dog bites is in hundreds. This exercise undertaken by
government is just an eyewash to fool the public. It will not reduce the menace
of dog bites in the country nor rabies. If the government is really concerned
about the public welfare in reducing rabies, they need to reduce the numbers of
stray dogs roaming freely all over and attacking humans. They need to reduce
the heaps of garbage seen all over, specially leftover food disposed off
indiscriminately. They need to apprehend people feeding strays with poultry and
other animal waste on city roads. No one objects to dog lovers taking the
strays home and feeding them.

Buttocks Tattoo Terror Lands Rotherham Pair In Hospital
2017-2-08

A furious row has broken out between a local tattoo artist and his client after
what started out as a routine inking session, left both of them requiring
emergency hospital treatment.

Furious film fan and part time plus size model Tracey Munter (23), had visited
the Ink It Good Tattoo Emporium on Wellgate last week to have the finishing
touches applied to a double buttock representation of the chariot race scene
from the iconic 1959 film, Ben Hur. Tattooist Jason Burns takes up the story.

“It was a big job in more ways than one.”; he told us “I’d just lit a roll up
and was finishing off a centurions helmet. It’s delicate, close up work. Next
thing is, I sense a slight ripple in the buttock cleavage area just around
Charlton Heston’s whip, and a hissing sound – more of a whoosh than a rasp –
and before I know what’s happening, there’s a flame shooting from her arse to
my fag (cigarette) and my beards gone up like an Aussie bush fire.”;

Jason says he rushed to the studio sink to quell the flames, only to turn round
and see Tracey frantically fanning her buttock area with a damp towel. The
flames had travelled down the gas cloud and set fire to her thong which was
smoking like a cheap firework.
“To be honest”, said Jason, “I didn’t even realise she was wearing one. You’d
need a sodding mining licence and a torch to find out for sure. She could have
had a complete wardrobe  in there and I’d have been none the wiser.”;

Jason and Tracey were taken to Rotherham District Hospital accident and
emergency department where they were treated for minor burns and shock. Both
are adamant that the other is to blame.

“I’m furious”; said Jason, “I’ve got a face like a mange-ridden dog and my left
eyebrows not there any more. I don’t know about Ben Hur – Gone With The Wind’s
more like it. You don’t just let rip in someone’s face like that. It’s
dangerous.”;

But  Tracey remains both angry and unrepentant;
“I’m still in agony,”; she said, “;and Charlton Heston looks more like Sidney
bloody Poitier now. Jason shouldn’t have had a fag on the go and there’s no
way I’d guff on purpose. He’d had me on all fours for nearly an hour. I can
only put up with that for so long before nature takes its course. My Kev knows
that. I give him my five second warning and I’d have done the same for Jason,
but I didn’t get chance – it just crept out.”;

Ted Walters from the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service wasn’t surprised
when we told him what had happened “People just don’t appreciate the dangers.
“; he told us, “We get called out to more flatulence ignition incidents than
kitchen fires these days, now people have moved over to oven chips. We have a
slogan ‘Flame ‘n fart – keep ’em apart’. Anyone engaging in an arse inking
scenario would do well to bear that in mind in future.”;

Mapusa, Panjim, Margao have bypass highways built to avoid vehicles entering

It is very obvious from the letter how many people get swayed and incited when
issues are represented with religious overtones and patriotism. They lose
rationality as to the feasibility, adverse scientific side effects on
environment and monetary thriftiness that goes along with such monstrous
structures.
India has a lot of personalities in its history. Each of them having large
amount of followers in India. That should not be the reason for building
monstrous statues of each of them, like of Emperor Akbar at Delhi, or Tipu
Sultan in Bengaluru, or even Alfonso de Albuquerque offshore Goa.
In fact, were it not for Alfonso de Albuquerque who carved out Goa from the
Indian subcontinent five centuries back, Goa might have been just another
Indian village in Maharashtra or Karnataka. And India would not have the
opportunity to host International events like BRICS summit, CHOGM, or DefExpo,

same reason make Indians want a second home in Goa. Would these same people

The recent case of rioting and arson that took place at Rumdamol-Gogol brings
to the fore the BJP government's communal agenda. In February this year and
even at this year Diwali celebrations certain groups spent lakhs of rupees in
celebrating Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, put up posters all over Margão, took
processions , made huge lanterns and installed at traffic island without
permission from authorities. And the concerned authorities did nothing. WHY?
Since nothing was done, now Mysoreans feel they too can celebrate Tipu sultan's
Anniversary in a similar way, and have put up posters to celebrate.
This has now led to this clash with rioting and arson.
Goa would do well to BAN all celebrations of Maharajas, Sultans & Shahs ,
rather than make Goa their battle field which was successfully put a stop to by
Timayya by inviting the Portuguese for the last four and half centuries. The
BJP now seems to be hell bent in starting that war again.

of cell phones and density of cell phone towers have gone up
exponentially>>>

COMMENT
If incidence of most cancers have declined or unchanged world over, does it
prove that RF radiation does NOT produce cancer? Is that a medical stand? Or a
Layman's stand?
Is it not true that The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has
classified RF fields as "possibly carcinogenic to humans," based on limited
evidence of a possible increase in risk for brain tumours among cell phone
users, and inadequate evidence for other types of cancer. ?
Check this site:
http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/othercarcinogens/athome/cellular-phone-towers
Cellular Phone Towers - American Cancer
Society<http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/othercarcinogens/athome/cellular-phone-towers>
www.cancer.org
Cellular Phone Towers . Cellular (cell) phones first became widely available in
the United States in the 1990s, but since then their use has increased ...

Can any medical person or scientist claim with certainty that RF field from
mobile phones and towers does NOT cause cancer? Which authority says so?
The issue here is exactly this, the government and service providers say with
authority that IT DOES NOT!

[Goanet] CELLPHONE TOWER RADIATIONS

2016-09-14 Thread Dr . Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão

The following are excerpts from American Cancer Society released on May 31,
2016 on Public exposure to radio waves from cell phone tower antennas. It can
be verified at this site :
http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/othercarcinogens/athome/cellular-phone-towers
QUOTE:
"The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified RF
fields as "possibly carcinogenic to humans," based on limited evidence of a
possible increase in risk for brain tumors among cell phone users, and
inadequate evidence for other types of cancer."

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states: "At very high levels, RF
energy is dangerous. It can heat the body's tissues rapidly. However, such high
levels are found only near certain equipment, such as powerful long-distance
transmitters. Cellphones and wireless networks produce RF, but not at levels
that cause significant heating.
A large study by the US National Toxicology Program (NTP) exposed groups of lab
rats and mice to RF energy over their entire bodies for about 9 hours a day,
starting before birth and continuing for up to 2 years. The NTP recently
released partial findings from this study, which found increased (although
still low) risks of brain and heart tumors in male rats exposed to RF
radiation, although there was no increased risk among female rats. Some aspects
this study, such as the high doses of RF radiation and the long amount of time
the rats were exposed to it, make it hard to know just how well these results
might be applied to people. Still, the results add evidence to the idea that
the signals used in cell phone communication might potentially impact human
health.
Some people have expressed concern that living, working, or going to school
near a cell phone tower might increase the risk of cancer or other health
problems. At this time, there is very little evidence to support this idea. In
theory, there are some important points that would argue against cellular phone
towers being able to cause cancer.
When a cellular antenna is mounted on a roof, it is possible that a person on
the roof could be exposed to RF levels greater than those typically encountered
on the ground.

UNQUOTE

With these latest facts from accepted scientific research bodies, I ask the
following questions. Can a qualified Doctor in the medical field assure with
confidence that cancer cannot be caused when authorities have not proved it
yet? Is there a constant check by any Authority on the levels of RF energy
emissions from the towers? Is there anyway of checking the radiation level of
the mobile phone? Regulatory information gives out Specific Absorption Rate
(SAR) of the head and body. For the head, SAR of more than 1.6 is dangerous.
Anything below 1 is safe. For the body, SAR above 5 is dangerous and regulatory
norms prescribe that SAR has to be less than 2 for the body.

COMMENT:
Aires, please don't shoot in the dark!
Very easy to say : "Vishnu Wagh might have missed out on vital and
critical treatment while at the Goa Medical College."
Don't bring here cross examination tactics.
NO DOCTOR CAN EVER state that there was any deficiency in treatment given,
unless there is concrete evidence; even when best and expert treatment was
given.
So Aires, Please don't try to plant doubts in people's mind with your lawyer's
brains.
Try and understand Medical facts!
Even many layman by now know that brain cells die if deprived of blood
circulation/oxygenation for more than THREE MINUTE!
Vishnu Wagh had a Cardiac arrest following a heart attack some time back,
after which he was revived and the block re-canalised by angioplasty. Which
means he had definitely suffered death of some part of the heart muscle. He was
advised rest for six moths to recuperate, which he ignored.
This second attack he got now, resulted also in cardiac arrest, and it is very
much possible that it lasted for more than THREE MINUTES.
There is even a possibility that this time it was a real cardiac arrest and
that the first time was a ventricular fibrillation. It is normally so.
So, Please; Do not venture into the medical field when one is unaware of the
sequence following heart attacks.

editorial content in the Herald is subject to screening of the sales

In response, I said on more than one occasion, that I was not in a position
to reveal the name of the source who gave me the memo, citing journalistic
ethics, according to which revealing the identity of the source, who has
helped to unearth a malpractice, is sacrilege.
I also explained that if in the future, reporters were asked to name their
sources and were subject to complaints filed by public institutions and
private companies for 'stealing' or 'hacking' data, every time a story was
filed on basis of leaked documents, it would be impossible for bonfide
media to report on issues in public interest.
I also said that the case against me filed by Herald amounted to harassment

[Goanet] YOGA in schools from July.

2016-06-20 Thread Dr . Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão
I am not in the least surprised that our Chief Minister announced that, come
July, YOGA training will be started across the State in 180 schools by
employing 180 yoga teachers on Contract. After all, contract labour is
government's hallmark to kick them out later.

But my main question to Hon'ble Chief Minister, Mr. Parsekar, who I presume was
a Head Master, is that what and how will it benefit a child in their upbringing
school years.

Can Mr. Parsekar clarify or cite any scientific basis That YOGA helps in the
upbringing of a child?

Can he cite any genuine scientific research that shows benefits of Yoga?

Is Yoga Internationally accepted as a requisite for a child's benefit and
upbringing, and advised by UNESCO or any other International Educational
Organisation?

Or is the government pushing down the throats of people whatever they believe,
diktats that have NO scientific basis?

Yoga is nothing but a combination of breathing and stretch exercises and
meditation. There in no scientific research on Yoga. One cannot generalise that
Yoga is beneficial to all.

I feel our Bardez doctors should feel ashamed that even Indian Physiotherapists

The saddest part of it all is that some people in the name of the dead body of

--They also had the SAME Indian LAW to abide by and most probably they had

--Yet they INTERPRETED the situation in absolutely CONTRASTING manner and
gave verdicts which are poles apart.

--Just imagine what would have happened if a YOUNG doctor sitting in a
GOVERNMENT hospital doctor catering to hundreds of patients in a day had
diagnosed a celebrity patient presenting with gastric discomfort as
GASTRITIS and another hospital had LATER on diagnosed that patient to be
having a MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION. I am sure that doctor would have been
screwed and jailed.

--A JUDGE gets YEARS to decide on a case
unlike a DOCTOR who is expected to diagnose and treat everything in the
BLINK of an eye.

--If a doctor making a wrong diagnosis can be prosecuted shouldn't a judge
giving wrong verdicts meet the same fate?

--If hospitals can be sued for not admitting poor patients shouldn't the
courts be prosecuted for having lacs of impending cases?

--Is it not appalling that a judge taking 12 years to give a wrong verdict
gets away unhurt and a doctor making one mistake is screwed by our legal
system?

--Doctors practice medicine which is more of an art than an exact science
whereas law is absolutely 100% man made, yet doctors are expected to be right
on all occasions.

--If doctors and hospitals have a duty towards the society then does the
judiciary not have a responsibility towards the society.

--If there is so much of hue and cry in media about doctors and hospitals
charging huge sums from patients then why do we not ever hear a word on the
fee that lawyers like Manu Singhvi and Jethmalani charge for their court
appearances.

--Government often talks about putting a capping on the fees doctors charge
for various procedures but their is no talk of putting a capping on the fee
that these lawyers charge to get justice for their clients.

I would like to know, and likewise many Goans too,
1- What has Shivaji , who was a Maratha warrior got to do with GOA? He is
revered in Maharashtra!
2- Who has financed this lakhs of expenditure for the celebrations in Goa?
3- What is the hidden agenda of this celebration at such expense? Making Goa
part of Maharashtra?
4- Can the protagonists of this Maratha Shivaji show us Goans from history; in
what way Goa and Goans need to be grateful and commemorate this Marathi
warrior? In fact, as per history, Shivaji repeatedly attacked Goa to conquer
it; and was driven off several times by Sultanate of Bijapur and the Portuguese.
I smell a sinister plan here, that there are people still having hopes that Goa
merge with Maharashtra!

Are there any Crime investigation experts in Goa?

What have these so called Anonymous Investigators unravelled?

A blood stained vest? Some 5 children witnesses?

That too after I challenged them if their Private investigations have any

And they don't miss in stating that they are running short of funds and

[Goanet] Politicians and Roads, is it "development"?

2016-01-30 Thread Dr . Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão

Successive government have been just constructing Roads and Roads and widening
existing Roads. All they are doing is covering more and more area of the fixed
area of Goa with Tarmac. And the building lobby is covering it with concrete.
Where is our Goa headed to?
Village roads are being widened by destroying people's houses and compound
walls. Footpaths are built on usurped private property that owners have kept as
setback. Acquisition is done in some cases by illegal means, when objection
raised are deliberately ignored instead of referring them to District Courts.
Compensations are not paid to public for last 25 years and more, but siphoned
out illegally. What happened to Lakhs of Compensation money that went missing
from South District Collectorate? People have been frequenting the Collectorate
for last 25 years!
Our Illiterate and Ignorant Politicians, as well as many Goans think that more
roads and wider roads is "Development". That wider roads will decrease road
congestion. Dubai has 6 to 8 lanes roads, but still mornings and evenings there
are traffic jams. WHY? Everyone has a car there, besides all Companies/Business
establishments have plenty of cars. Good governance in such cases is to limit
number of vehicles and have good public transport system; rather than widening
roads and destroying our old village heritage; destroying Goan houses, where
roads will end up next to their windows. Take the example of Singapore. It is
smaller than Goa. Why can Goa not restrict number of vehicles per family? Let
extra vehicles be heavily taxed. Also let us see discipline maintained on the
roads rather than just helmets fines.

[Goanet] Was it accidental drowning or not?

2016-01-07 Thread Dr . Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão

It is very intriguing how most media report that Diatom test rules out murder
of Fr. Bismarque. Diatom test only rules out murder taken place elsewhere or in
other waters and then body dumped in the waters where the body is found.
Suprintendent of police K. Kashyap had stated exactly this when he gave a press
statement, but press only printed the first half of the statement giving it an
entirely different meaning.
With the GMC giving a final verdict on the cause of death as drowning too, does
not rule out murder. It is still not confirmed whether he got drowned or was
forced to drown.
There are many holes into police investigation which is evidently shoddy. The
autopsy and viscera analysis rules out that Fr. Bismarque consumed beer, or
that he was on anti-depressant medication. It is also on record the statement
by the two boys that they consumed 2 cartons of beer, most of which they said
Fr. Bismarque consumed. It is also on record that the police attached the empty
beer bottles. Now the answer to the murder lies in WHO consumed the two cartons
of beer.

As telhas partiram? Não há problemas, cobre-se o telhado com ……..Plástico Azul;

As vidraças partiram…..plástico azul

MCI team irked with rude faculty members of GMC

http://epaper.navhindtimes.in/NewsDetail.aspx?storyid=10661=2015-10-13=1

PANAJI: Atleast a dozen faculty
members, including two heads of
departments of the Goa Medical College failed to satisfy the inspectors
deputed by the Medical Council of India (MCI) for inspection of the
facilities, staff and other requirements at the only medical college in
the state so as to continue its recognition for admission of 150
students in the future.

Authoritative sources said that the MCI inspectors have taken a
serious view of the faculty members not producing their original
certificates, failing to sign the muster rolls sent to the operation
theatres and out-patient departments where they were posted besides
failing to meet various other requirements as per the MCI guidelines.

The sources said that the rude and uncooperative behaviour of the
faculty members irked the inspection team members, who had to summon
them to seek explanation, to which the faculty members took as an
affront. The sources also denied that any operation was cancelled or
postponed besides empathetically maintaining the OPDs functioned
normally.

The sources said that to minimise action against them and to put the
MCI inspectors on the back foot, the “aggrieved” faculty members
“leaked” to media that operations were either cancelled or rescheduled
and that the OPDs were closed.

“If the OPDs were closed and operations were postponed or cancelled
then why were the muster rolls sent to the OPDs and operation theatres
before 9 am with specific directions that they were to be returned to
the inspector by noon,” the sources said adding that it was only when
the unsigned muster rolls were returned around noon that faculty was
called by inspectors to seek explanation. According to the sources,
while the government ensured that most of the requirements as laid down
by the MCI were met, the “uncooperative” behaviour of a few faculty
members has put a question mark on whether the GMC would have to undergo
another inspection for failing to meet the requirements.

The sources said that the government ensured that there was enough
number of residents by invoking the bond condition on the students
passing out of the GMC. As regards to the other requirement of seminar
cum examination hall, the GSIDC assured the inspectors that it would be
ready soon.

The sources further said that for the first time in the history of
GMC in recent years, the physical verification of the staff was
completed before 8 pm unlike post midnight in previous years. The
inspection was carried in new lecture halls at the request of dean Dr
Pradip Naik.

The MCI as well as the GMC authorities have issued standing
instructions to the faculty members that they should keep their original
certificates within the GMC campus so as to produce them before
authorities at short notice. But quite a few faculty members have failed
 to adhere to the instructions.

Road users? Do they realize that helmets don’t prevent accidents but protect
head injury to a certain extent after meeting with an accident? That Helmets
are not for Road safety but it is an item of PPE (Personal Protective

It is a
good move that the government has decided to teach Traffic Regulations and
Safety in Schools and Colleges. But will just that suffice? We need to groom
children from young in other virtues that will aid them in understanding the
necessity of respecting Traffic Regulations and Safety. We need to teach
children
first personal, home and environment HYGIENE. Then Manners, etiquettes, respect
and humility. That will groom children to respect Laws, Rules, and rights of
other citizens. Only then they will realise that Laws are there to live as
civilized
citizens; unlike the arrogance and rage we see everywhere nowadays. It has
rightly been said: "If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are
planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate
people."

This all looks good on paper. But do we have teachers that
will also teach through example?

2015-06-04 Thread Dr . Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão

It is a
Shame to Goa’s Administration that international media broadcasts gangrape of 2
women tourists in Goa. Has the Administration even reflected why such crimes
have started happening in Goa?

All the
five accused are non-Goans and believed working in one Resort in the North Goa.
Possibly the same resort where they stayed overnight with the abducted
tourists. Otherwise it is not possible to enter a Resort and stay overnight with
abducted women. Unless ofcourse, the management is involved.

In the Uber
cab driver rape case, the Delhi government had then suspended the services of
Uber cabs. Will the Goa government close this Resort to investigate this case.
Is
it not a lapse for the staff to misuse the rooms for crimes? Is it not the
responsibility
of the employer to check antecedents of people employed? Specially is the
Hospitality industry?

[Goanet] Goa's Taxi driver risks

2015-04-24 Thread Dr . Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão

Has Goa’s Tourism promoted murders of our Taxi drivers? How
many taxi drivers have not been killed by criminals posing as domestic tourists
and their taxis driven off to different States? Why is it that no one takes up
this issue in educating the taxi drivers to take adequate precautions on
personal
Safety? Can the Goa Police not make certain Regulations mandatory?

For the Safety of taxi drivers, I feel every hired taxi
driver should click a photograph of the passenger tourist as mandatory Police
Regulation
and send the picture to the nearest Police station by MMS. A Criminal will then
think twice as he cannot escape his identity if he commits a crime. Someone
needs to keep a track of which taxi has been hired by which tourist; either the
police, or their taxi Union.

http://www.india.com/sports/wtf-jet-airways-barred-indian-shooters-anjali-bhagwat-heena-sidhu-for-carrying-firearms-353914/

WTF! Jet Airways barred Indian Shooters Anjali Bhagwat Heena Sidhu for
carrying firearms
Hearing about misbehaviour and
manhandling on the part of some Indian airlines has become so common,
it’s passé, but the latest incident by one of the airlines will leave
you dumbstruck. Jet Airways, which often finds itself among
controversies, did something unimaginable! They stopped the entry of
India’s leading shooters Anjali Bhagwat and Heena Sidhu from boarding
their flight from Bangkok to Mumbai, according to The Times of India.
The reason being that the shooters were carrying firearms in their
luggage. It seems Jet ignore the proper clearance papers they had! The
ordeal did not end for the ladies, as they had to spend sleepless nights
in Bangkok. (Also Read: Airport official arrested for sexually harassing
passenger.)

The nightmarish trip for Anjali Bhagwat
and Heena Sidhu started when the Jet Airways denied them entry on the
connecting flight from Bangkok to Mumbai. The two female shooters were
returning from Busan (South Korea) and as per norms, they were issued
with a Jet Airways boarding pass in Busan itself. They were
still hassled in Bangkok! (Also Read: Air India pilots indulge in verbal duel
before flight take off)
As per the TOI report, the two Arjuna Awardees faced difficulties with the
uncalled for behaviour of Jet. Heena Sidhu said while talking to TOI,
“Despite having all the documents and paying all the fees, Shailesh
Gala, the security manager of Jet Airways in Bangkok, didn’t allow us to
board the flight. We showed him the DGCA permit and the customs
clearance letter but he was adamant and said, ‘I won’t allow you to
board the flight’. She further added after arriving Mumbai eight hours
late, ”I asked him to give this in writing but he refused. We almost
missed the Air India flight too because of his attitude.”
Heena was deeply affected with the rude
behavior by the Jet Airways official who refused to tell the
sportspersons the reasons behind barring them entry into the flight.
Anjali and Heena were informed by Korean airline staff that they were
not accepted because of the presence of firearms in the luggage. As a
result, the girls faced plenty of trouble on the night with no food or
sleep at the Bangkok airport.
“It was late in the night and because
Jet Airways refused to allow us travel, we had to go out of the airport
and take a visa on arrival. We also went without food as the restaurants
were all closed. First, we paid the extra baggage charges to Jet and
then to Air India and in total we spent about 1700 euros. Add to this
the harassment we faced at the hands of that official,” said Heena,
further expressing her anger.
The problem for the two sportspersons finally came to an end when the
National Rifle Association of India stepped in, after being informed by
the former Commonwealth Games medallist Ashok Pandit. (Edited by Shweta

Subject: Margao garbage collection
Date: Sun, 3 Aug 2014 07:15:43 +0530

The Margão Municipality
has a couple of days back started the door to door garbage collection. Two
municipal migrant workers go to houses and
flats in the city to collect the garbage. They enter buildings in the city and
have a free right to access by the blessings of the Municipality. They have no
uniforms that they can be identified, and knock residential doors in the
mornings.

This exercise is
an intrusion into the privacy of the residents and also a compromise of their
safety and security. In time, these migrants will know the movements of
residents of each and
every flat/house. Besides, residents go for work, children to school, and mostly
some maid or elderly member of family is at home during working hours, and
opening doors during these hours is a risk to life and property. Any criminal
too can take advantage of the situation and claim to be collecting garbage. And
it is also to be noted that most of these migrant Municipal workers are
paan/tobacco
chewing individuals and spit anywhere along staircase walls, etc. defacing
private property.

I request the
Municipality to stop this door to door stupid and birdbrained idea as they are
not only trespassing into private area, but also compromising the safety and
security of the
residents. And that is illegal!

placed it in a container of water inside the tabernacle of the chapel of the
Blessed Sacrament. The following Monday, August 26, upon opening the
tabernacle, the priest was astonished to find that the Host had become a bloody
substance and he notified his Bishop Jorge Bergoglio (now Pope Francis I), who
gave instructions that the bloodied flesh be photographed. When the photographs
were taken on September 6, the bloodied flesh had grown significantly in size.
After it had been kept in the tabernacle for a few years the Bishop decided to
have it scientifically analyzed since it had not suffered any visible
decomposition. . .

The news
reports on most dailies make amusing read. It not only depicts the mentality and
intelligence of the people but also of their representatives. Parrikar states
petrol will become cheaper if Modi becomes PM. But will that reduces bus, taxi
or rickshaw fares which benefits common man? Has that ever happened?

An Ad by supposedly
a private entity ‘Goencho mog’ in favour of the BJP depicts Congress scams. It
goes without saying that Indian Political Parties of whatever, hue are surely
not
saints; all are corrupt. That is partly and inborn culture, a mixture of
upbringing as well as of the misinterpretation of the Hindu mythology. Another
Ad from this same sponsor depicts last election promises kept by the BJP of
petrol
price reduction and other schemes, which benefited many. Does this many cover
the common man irrespective of his affiliation? Does the common man live on
Petrol? Why not reduce price of fish which is Goan staple food? Why bus fares
keep rising every year? Why Goans cannot afford to travel by non metered public
transport?

A writer
says the Church is communal and goes on to argue about wages not paid for beach
cleaning. A couple or so more from Calangute argue that calling others communal

Machado Maçedo are two different surnames. Both are Portuguese
surnames. Machado is derived from ‘hammer’ and Maçedo from ‘apple orchards’.
The rest all corrupted versions depend on each
one’s imaginations, like Ferns, Rod, etc.

 Dear Rena,

You are obviously semi-right but NOT for the reasons stated by you.

1: the Heraldo did NOT state that 'she' was raped. The Heraldo's article
points to the opposite direction ie Natural Causes. So...the Heraldo was not
naming a rape victim. Was it?

2: Where is the Heraldo's LEGAL offence?

3: It is, however, unethical in many jurisdictions to indicate the

for that disclosure. These countries have Data Protection Acts which apply to
individuals including doctors

suppose it is about Goa. Sochalta hai.

Hey All,

This
is not just irresponsible, its a legal offence. Even if Herald
got it wrong ( and deceased was indeed raped) Naming a rape
victim is prohibited.

Disclosure
is punishable under the Section 228A IPC - not
only name ,
but publishing information that identifies
her family, address or personal / professional
information

In addition, Norms of Journalistic
Conduct issued by the Press Council of India. (2010) “while
reporting crime involving rape, abduction or kidnap of women/females or sexual
assault on children, or raising doubts and questions touching the chastity,
personal character and privacy of women, the names, photographs of the victims
or other particulars leading to their identity shall not be published.”

Journalists/Publications not abiding by the above
are punishable both by PCI and IPC. The SC also discourages use of the victims
name and suggests that the term rape victim rape
survivor or deceased be used (as applicable) in their
judgements or by journalists in any form of communication or discussion.

any person with mediocre intelligence would have understood that I have not
asked that the website cited be read. It was put there for those who need to
confirm my statement that Sunlight is ultra violet radiation and cell phone
radiation is radio frequency radiation, The former being ionizing and the
latter non-ionizing radiation. So, there is no need to confuse tomatoes with
potatoes, just because one has toes!

COMMENT:

In the Medical College, ie. Goa Medical College where Santosh claims to have
passed from;
We as students were specifically taught to converse with layman in layman's
terms.
And not to use bombastic or rhetorical language.
If Sanosh cannot be genuine enough to let laymen understand what he's talking
about,
I feel he should not send such posts that layman will not understand to a
public media,
Unless; ofcourse, he feels he is denied of his right to defend his stand!
And by the way, cell phone radiation is radio frequency radiation, as in
microwave and known as non-ionizing radiation;
Whereas Sunlight(Ultra violet radiation) and X-rays are known as ionising
radiation which mostly that causes harm.
Guess this explanation is more in layman terms!

Besides, my previous post on the subject cites a very recent
findings, i.e. Dated 7the March, 2014.

Any responsible person/authority, like say a Judge/Court
cannot pronounce that an accused is ‘innocent’ due to ‘lack of evidence’. A
Judge/Court can only acquit or exonerate based on ‘lack of evidence.

In this case the “accused” is the cell  Tower RF waves radiation;
no responsible person can assure/pronounce that they are innocent!

What do we do about this mon ami?
One cannot (specially a qualified medical doctor) in no terms assure there
cannot be harmful effects when there is no proof.
Just as for us doctors it is ethics not to guarantee that there will not be
side effects to any medication.

An article released in the Daily Telegraph today, 7th March

that immediate action is required to protect children after ruling that
new technologies do ‘potentially’ have harmful effects on humans.

We've had enough name degradation of Goa since 1961. Please do not add to it.
Concentrate on keeping our cities and villages clean with proper
communication facilities. Visit Singapore and check out the names of places.
Governance is serious, which has made them a top notch country in the world.
