[h-cost] Question about mid-19th century hand embroidery

Hello to the list. I am doing a project and want explore mid-19th century embroidery as displayed on dresses. Was embroidery using wool threads common? And where would be the best place to start looking for info about it, and images? Does anyone on here have a special intereset in this?

I worked through the whole Christmas season--5 shifts in row at Christmas, as well as NY Day. My son gave me a fabulous book on 19th C. Photography, and I got other beady and fabric presents that are delightful. From daughter and grandson (now 2 1/2 years) a customized calendar with photos.
